Terminix - Alexandria -Termite & Pest Control

When I spoke to the representative on the phone, he could not answer my specific questions but gave canned answers. He finally said that I should just have a technician come to give me an estimate. We scheduled the appointment for the next day between 8-10. No one showed. No one called. I will not try them again as there are too many local exterminators with great Angie's List ratings that I can use instead.

I think they did an alright job. I think there was an issue with poor communication and not following through.

went fine once I decided to go with them. I did not shop around and maybe I should have but since I had always heard of them, figured they would be arond in case something DID occur and I needed to use the warranty.

If I don?t like it or I get another visit from an uninvited critter they will come back at no cost. They have a competitive price. I can reach them 24 hours a day.

They have been coming out for exterminating for about eight months now. I didn't call them to make the appointments because I was sick once but they came and did their service which is really nice. Their price was a bit higher than the other companies.

I think the Terminix rep saw us as easy targets and, as such, tried to charge us three times more ($1100)than the other two companies ($375). The fact that he called his "boss" to get a good deal for us, since we were a "nice couple" was really the icing on the cake and an insult to our intelligence. We have done some investigating since our experience with Terminix and understand that this is a common tactic employed company-wide. I would suggest that they give potential clients the facts rather than trying to scare them into purchase something unnecessary.

They seem okay. Their service seems to be good. I think they are a little high from one year to the next. The barrier that they put in the ground seems to work pretty good. I had termite damage in the house when I bought it, and I haven't had any evidence of termite damage since. I can't complain about the results. I think their prices are a tad high.

The service was pathetic. It was very difficult scheduling a time that was convenient. Towards the end of our relationship they wouldn't even schedule something that was convenient so I didn't feel like I was getting the service that I was paying for at all. The price was no big deal but the quality of the service, the variety of the technicians that they sent out to do the work, it was more of an annoyance than it was a relief. I terminated Terminix as a service provider for pest control. I kept them for my termite control and that is okay. I only see them once a year and as long as I don't have termites I'm fine.

The overall experience with them has been good. I checked and they had good ratings in Angiesist. I would continue to use them in future.

We used him once and then we transferred our membership to Virginia. He did a fine job. I don?t see any ants today. He was neat and polite. He did extra. He offered to clear some bees. He was very nice but he had no idea he was supposed to come to my house until I called him and reminded him that he had promised to come. Northern Virginia and D C is a vast area and the main problem is getting people to come when they say they will come. The company was not good in communicating to their people that they were supposed to come to my place. We had paid for 4 visits and this was the 3rd visit.

I had a roach problem a long time ago and they were the first people who could come out. It might have been my parents or somebody - I don?t remember who because it was long ago - that had used Terminex and were very pleased with them, and so I decided to go with them. As far as I remember, whenever they have come out, they have come within the two-hour window that they have promised me.

I had to take care of a basement which had flooded. In the meantime there were some termites that were found in the wall. I immediately called 3 different companies to get rid of the termites. Among the 3 companies, 2 companies couldn?t come the very next day. They wanted to give me an appointment. When I called Terminex, they said that they could come the next day itself. They were very punctual. The next morning sharp, a man from Terminex was knocking on my door. I was really impressed, that even though I called them at the closing time, they made the appointment to come the very next day. It could have been cheaper at other places but I wanted the work to be done as soon as possible. The amount that I paid them was for the whole year.

They are very good and I am very satisfied with them. Whenever I need their service they come back. The guy is very accommodating. The price is a little high.

They came on time. They guarantee that if I have termites they will come back and take care of it. They did quality work and the price was reasonable.

Terminix responded quickly. The inspector arrived on time. He inspected areas around the house and the basement. He looked at the damage around the front and determined that I had carpenter ants. I asked him if he was going to look behind the wood to see the insects my contractor saw. He said he didn't need to, he could tell by looking at the damage it was carpenter ants. I insisted that he wait until I got a screw driver to remove the wood to see the insects. After the wood was removed he admitted he was wrong- it was termites. The treatment technicians worked around my schedule, which was much appreciated.

The contract with them has been working satisfactorily and we have not had any problems with them. The quality of work is good and we do not have any termites in our house. We will continue to use their services in the future.

They are very effective. They use products that are not harmful to the pets or humans. They always keep us informed about what they are doing. They do a very thorough job.

They call us the day before they come so we know to be home. Most of the time we get the same technician. We are pleased with their service and have never had a problem with it.

There is never any complications when the employee is here - he is always super nice and friendly and I enjoy having him here. There have been a few times when he didn't show up at all when he was supposed to and then once when he came without warning, though. Also, the issue with my pests never seems to be resolved - they even come out for extra services at no charge, but my problem persists.

They are not bad. They people that come to our house don't come on time, but when they do come their service is good. We usually have the same technician coming in every time and we have not any problems with them.

I found termites in the flower bed next to my townhouse. I called and they came by a couple of days later and verified that I indeed had termites. They gave me an estimate. They scheduled a treatment for about a week later. The treatment was the pesticide they soak in around the dirt up next to the house using rods to get the liquid down in the dirt several feet--down to the foundation. They even helped me move a small shed I had up next to the house in the backyard. Since the treatment is supposed to last for 5-8 years, and since I can perform the termite inspections myself; I did not ask for the yearly termite inspection service-just the one-time treatment. They did not pressure me to buy a yearly contract, which I appreciated.

It went very well. Ed was very thorough and showed a lot of integrity. He saved me a lot of worry, and $$ too!

The first two or three years were fine. We had an initial treatment and repaired existing damage on our own. An inspector came out and did a thorough inspection and suggested steps we could take to prevent termites. Then things changed. Our initial contact left the company, and the new inspectors no longer checked the crawl space and seemed generally uninterested in finding termites. They didn't seem to care whether we were home to inspect inside and under the house or if there was 2 feet of snow on the ground and they couldn't inspect outside. Inspectors were more interested in selling us a contract for other pests than inspecting for termites. They never brought coveralls or gear you would expect someone to carry when they do real inspections. Then we found termites and new damage on three different occasions several years apart and the nightmares began. The scenario was exactly the same three times. Appointments were made with wide windows of time and no one would show. Repeated phone calls were not returned. Technicians would show up without an appointment not even knowing why they were there. The phone was unanswered in the office. When we did reach someone on the phone, they were surly and evasive. After months of this treatment and frustration, I wrote letters to the Better Business Bureau and finally got re-treatment and repairs. As I said, this scenario happened three times, and its beginning again because I just found new termites. I suspect they have not done anything all the times they said they were treating. When I finally got action, managers have told me not to poke holes in the damaged wall because it will make the termites go somewhere else. Then Terminix sent a contractor to do the repairs, but they only repair the surface and refuse to explore for deeper damage. Because of the contract to repair new damage, I'm reluctant to get out of this contract, but if we could go for any length of time without new infestation and damage, I would find another firm. Because I've had the contract so long and repaired damage every time I've found it, it's hard for Terminix to argue it's pre-existing damage. I've recently found new signs of damage and have so far been unable to get a representative on the phone to honor my contract.

They arrived on time, performed the service ordered and they were polite. It probably took them twice as long to do the work because they spent most of their time standing around talking. I couldn't understand why it took 3 of them to do the work either. Guess that's why it cost $800 The main problem I had was their lack of concern over my property. They drilled holes in the mortar joints of my front step and then filled the holes with a totally different color mortar. There were blobs of mortar on the bricks which I tried to remove with a steel brush and was able to get most of it off. They trampled all over the plants in the flower beds with no attempt to avoid stepping on them. They left dirt and mud all over the walkway and front entrance. It would have taken less than 2 minutes to sweep it all away.

This has been an ongoing situation with this company. They come out regularly to check the baiting stations. If they have been broken, they will replace them.
