Last year, last summer and late spring, they did some work for me. They completely overhauled my air conditioning unit and apparently, it was a beast of a job. It was like the hardest job that that mechanic had ever done. It took him twelve hours. It was $1,300. It was $200 through then the Dealership for them to do it. They had done good work for my husband before. So, we had them do it, but something he did in this job screwed up my heater and so, I brought it back, and basically in order to do this job, you have to take out the entire dashboard. It is like eleven to twelve hours job. He came in, took out the dashboard, and saw that it was in fact his fault. So this $1,300 job he did the first time, he fixed it for free, but he had to spend another eleven hours on it. So, we love him. He made a mistake the first time, but he fixed it. Basically, whatever he did to fix my air conditioner screwed up the heater. It shut the heater door something like that so when it starting getting colder, my heater would not come on. He redid it entirely. Then, they put in new brakes and they gave it to me for free as an apology. They are like a mom & pop shop and they actually got a good reputation on Angie’s List. He messed up, but he fixed it.

I took our Dodge Ram and Mitsubishi Eclipse to Hammonds Auto service for diagnosis, I live 42 miles from Hammonds. Both vehicles had a sputtering and difficulty driving over 40 miles per hour. The owner said I would have to pay extra for a diagnostic test over and beyond the cost of the repairs. (Which we had never paid anywhere else.) In the end, I wound up with a NEW radiator which had nothing to do with the real problem! I drove the truck home and it still sputtered and had the same problems. In doing our own research we suggested a tune up to start, considering the truck had a new motor and shouldn't need anything else. Of course a simple tune up fixed the problem. I ended up with a new radiator and a waste of our time going back a second time. The same with our Eclipse, a simple tune up is all it needed. however they suggested that I get a new timing belt considering it was a 2003. So I had taken it in to replace the timing belt. The mechanic (they call him the head mechanic, John) who worked on the car also replaced the water pump. When I went to pick up the car, it squealed so loud down the road that I went back to confront "John". I insisted he ride with me to hear this. Unbelievably he drove us around the block going extreamly fast and slamming my breaks on! When we returned to the shop he told me that he was a "more aggressive driver" and that he was not like a lot of other mechanics that he likes to tighten belts a little more because "the belts will soon loosen on their own". He said that I should drive about 1500 miles and the squealing should fade! This car is garage kept and only goes a few miles to work and back. It will be forever before I it reaches 1500 miles! He laughed about driving my car like an idiot. I knew I would never go back. In the end, I realized between the truck and the car I had given then about $2000 in one month, so I insisted that John stop the squealing since I paid them so much already and before I have to go somewhere else to help me. John called me to pick the car up the following day but the car was still squealing. When I returned to Hammonds to pick the car up, I really let them have it, until it caused the woman at the desk to start crying. The entire waiting room got an ear full. There was a day I asked Connie, the owner, if I would be safe driving the Eclipse back to them with it sounding so bad. She was not at all concerned and told me if I break down on the highway to "call them". I should have never drove away till they fixed it right. We will NEVER take our vehicles back to Hammonds. I am happy to say we have since found an awesome mechanic. Hammonds will take your money and leave you to go somewhere else. We've had to pay another mechanic to take away the squealing in the engine where the belts had been tightened to tight, and had them do an overall inspection just so I could feel safe.

I've used Hammon's in the past for rental trucks. Since I was a previous customer they provided a FREE evaluation on the used car I was considering to purchase. They were busy and skipped me at one point but eventually they realized their mistake and immediately got my car checked out.

Our vehicle started making scratching noises indicating a need for brake repair. Hammonds found that the front calipers had seized and needed replacement. Our family ( parents, 5 brothers and sisters and their extended families) has been using Hammond's for more than 30 years. A family owned shop that treats you like family. They are absolutely dependable and HONEST. If you are in need of an auto repair shop that you can trust. This is the place.

Hammonds is the best in the area! They are always prompt, courteous, and treat their customers as family. We always take our vehicles there and we always will!

Another time, I called around to find someone to replace my AC Compressor and the owner took the time to answer my questions, and explain the additional parts and services required to do the job correctly. He did not pressure me, and told me all the questions I should be asking if calling around to different shops. I did enough additional research to find that he was correct about the additional parts needed to do the job correctly, and when I quizzed some others shops, some of them knew what they were talking about, and some did not. My brother ended up doing the work in his friends garage, so I did not need Hammond's services...but I feel I have found a garage I can trust, and will be bring all three cars to Hammond's for needed repairs we have saved for, because I know they will give me a lot for my budget, and they treated me so kindly, that I truly feel I owe it to them. Of the three times I've deal with them, I've only actually had them work on my vehicle once...but overall I feel like I have found the place in town I can TRUST with my wife's and kid's cars, and thus their safety. I'm getting ready to have service done on all three of my family vehicles, and I will take all three to Hammonds, and not even bother to call around for quotes.

Hammonds did regular maintenance on my Highlander. I have been taking my vehicles to them for over 10 years. They are very professional, charge a reasonable rate, and do excellent work. I highly recommend them.

Brought the car in on July 5 to check the oil (oil pressure light was sporadically coming up). Also, something was flapping/tapping in my dashboard anytime the car was in use. Upon drop off, Hammonds told us that they would not be able to take a look at the car until Monday. On Sunday they called us and let us know what was wrong with the car and the approx cost. On Monday afternoon the car was ready. This is not our first visit to Hammonds, as we found Hammonds earlier this year. This visit in particular is the third car of ours that we have sent to Hammonds for repair. We have also brought in a Honda and a Buick. Hammonds is excellent! I tell anyone looking for a mechanic to go there. Earlier this year our Honda needed repair. The dealership estimate made me choke, and they wouldn't have been able to get to my car right away. I was fortunate that Hammonds was across the street. Their estimate was half the dealership estimate, and Hammond turned the repair around in a couple hours. They've also been kind enough to little things with our cars. For instance, we couldn't figure out how to change the headlights of my car. We called the dealership for help and they wanted to charge us almost $100! Hammond did it for us for about $20 and let us use the bulb we had purchased at autozone. I dont even shop around of 'oil change deals' anymore. I bring my cars to Hammond because we've come to trust them with our vehicles.

I brought my van in at 4pm, got a call around noon the next day about the problem and the price to fix it, picked my van up at 4 pm that day with new brakes installed.

Ours is 1999 Chevy Cavalier and they have taken care of it forever. They didn’t charge us anything for the last visit because we have known them for years. We have been going there because they knew the car. Now it is my daughter’s car and I take it down there for her. Their price is really reasonable.
