In a word... like a nightmare. The brothers didn't show up, only Shane. He also showed up weeks late from when he had initially said, this greatly inconvenienced me and my family, wife was pregnant, kids were out of school. I missed many days of work waiting on him to show up. He had a different excuse every time. Should of fired him then in hindsight. He had some criminal guy Mario who was always late, and another kid who was working with him for the summer. The kid worked hard, and actually did most of the work. He should have his own business instead of Shane. Day one, they removed all the old carpets, and laminate in the kitchen and entry. Day two, found all the flooring cracked, resolved that with the place I had purchased it from, and that's all that got done that day. Day three, shane showed up late, but did have to pick up the new flooring from the warehouse, and things moved along fairly well. Day four, he had his trailer broken into, which I told him not to leave in my drive way since my neighbors had been broken into prior that month. He had the cheapest master locks installed, and I even put one of my own better locks on the back ramp since he only had one there, but they broke into the side door that night. His criminal looking helper didn't show up, got arrested...go figure, and all day was spent with him swearing about what happened, and telling me how screwed he is since he only had $15k insurance on the trailer. He didn't do anything that day, only the kid worked, and nearly nothing got done. He made me feel as if it was my fault, even though I had warned him. I stayed patient the whole time through all of this, I'm very easy going that way. He told me the job would be delayed until he got more tools, and I can understand that, but the whole project was weeks late. He finished the upstairs except for the trim fixes he was going to do, and the stairs. I paid him for work accomplished, but he still owes me for the trim fixes, about $250.00 I figure. I would owe him $300.00 to finish the stairs, if he would ever answer my calls. That's the last I've seen of him. Got several calls days later saying he would be back to finish the stairs, and trim issues, then texts, then nothing. I guess it's not worth his while to complete the job, but I'm glad in a way he didn't. His plan for the stair was terrible anyway, and just plain lazy. I had to find another contractor to complete the stairs, and buy even more supplies since Shane's plan was "stupid" per the new contractor, and I agree. I blame myself almost as much as him for all the drama, I should have verified his information, and asked for references. He wasn't the cheapest, and talked a good game. I generally trust people unless they give me reason not to, and Shane Warner doesn't have my trust to do anything, let alone finish it. I lost some money, and a lot of time, but I did gain stress, and learned a good lesson about contractors. I'm still pursuing the bond he took out on my job, and trying to find out his insurance he said he had, I should have verified it all. I also have a complaint in with the city to look into pulling his contractor license, he doesn't deserve it. His way of making things right is to make an excuse, and apologize profusely, but that doesn't get the job done. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS CONTRACTOR, OR HIS BROTHER IF HE HAS A BUSINESS STILL. HIS BROTHER BAILED ON THE JOB RIGHT OFF THE START!!!
Description of Work: Got three estimates for removal of old carpet and install of laminate flooring on my entire first floor, including down stairs steps and bottom landing, with exception of the upstairs bathroom. The Warner brothers were the only ones who actually came over to give a real estimate, they gave me the estimate, and time they could start, and I went off to purchase flooring with their recommendations in mind, and from a place they usually do business, and get a discount with as well. They installed some floors I chose first, but most of the flooring was cracked and of poor quality right out of the box, I was glad he made me aware of the issues, and was he was very apologetic since he recommended the place I bought them from. Spent hours arguing with the Manager to make things right, had to take several boxes back and open new unwrapped ones to prove to him it was all bad, at least half, and this wasn't cheap flooring, mid-range priced. Finally chose new, better floors, at the same price. I will admit, the manager made things right, but I will not shop there again, but that's another story. Day two, they installed the new flooring, things went faster, they were careless with my trim, and alot of it has gaps, and looks terrible now, and is cut too short in many places. Day three, they finished up to the stairs, and that's it. They never finished the job! I paid him for work done except the stairs, however, he was supposed to come back and fix the trim, and touch up several issues. See below for the drama, and just how unprofessional these guys are...
