They took the tv, said they could fix it.  Said it would just need about 3 bottles of glycol.    Brought the tv back a couple of weeks later, after several calls from me, asking the status of the tv.  I was given several excuses as to why it wasn't ready yet.  Finally, one day, I received a call saying the tv was fixed and we set up a time for them to bring the tv back.  The color wasn't great, but it was better than before, so I was okay with it.  That night it started making noise and kept shutting off.  The next day, tried it again, and the same thing happened.  I called and told them what was happening, they came back, said they needed to take the tv back in to figure out what was going on.  Once again, after several weeks of hearing nothing, and several calls with more excuses, they finally fessed up that they had broken the color tube and it had leaked all over inside the tv and there was no way of fixing it.  They refused to replace it, and better yet to give me a full refund.  After going round and round with theses clowns, they finally offered to give me a partial refund  and that was it.  I now have a tv that doesn't work at all. It took until July 30th for them to write the refund check.  I paid a total of $365.96, they refunded $312.18.  Now I am stuck with a tv that doesn't work at all due to their carelessness.  They sent me a letter saying the signal board is not repairable.  The signal board was fine when they took the tv.  They broke the color tube, which caused the glycol to leak all over it and make it  not repairable. Like I said, it worked perfectly fine before they took it, just needed a little color adjusting.  These were the most unprofessional service people I've  ever met or had to deal with.  I told them that their insurance should cover it, and I was told they had no insurance.  So after almost 4months with no tv and them refusing to replace the tv, I ended up with no tv because you can't replace a tv that you paid over a thousand dollars for,for $312.18. The lesson learned is,  check out these people you invite into your home to perform a service for you.  Make sure that they are bonded and insured.  I should have taken them to small claims court, my attorney said I would have no problem winning, but I had too many medical issues to deal with at the time.  I just let it go, and now I'm so glad that I've become a member or Angie's List so that I can inform others to use this website so you don't have the same thing happen to you.

"Sadly this repair did not turn out good, it was a nice TV and I really wish we could have fixed it. This type of repair has alot of risk to it and our insurance only covers physical damage or thieft. We always have signs on our clean 84 Astro Van with our name on it, and our Technicians are well dressed and clean cut. We gave the customer an exact estimate up front and told them of all the risk with changing the Glycol Collant in the set. We did not break the set, it simply leaked on the signal bd and made it unfixable. We gave a full refund."

It took at while but it was fine work. The staff was courteous and competent. The estimate and what I paid were right on. It took 2 to 3 weeks from when they came and picked it up.

This was a wonderful experience that saved us from buying a new television. We had been told by another service company (here on Angie's List) that the horrible picture on our Toshiba television was caused by bad capacitors in the "hyper module", and that we could pay several hundred dollars to fix it with just a 50/50 chance it would improve the picture. That was a year ago, and we've been living with a terrible picture all this time. Before we left to go buy a new TV, my husband decided to research this hyper module problem, and he became convinced it could be fixed, so he began hunting for a company that would be willing to do it. In Home Service was JUST the right company. They were out here on a Monday and determined they needed to order the board parts and do the repair in their shop. They were back here on a Friday and got it installed and working beautifully within a half hour. The total cost was amazingly reasonable and we are absolutely delighted. Van and his partner are extremely experienced and their knowledge is very impressive. Oh, and they are real nice guys, too. I'd give them two thumbs up, except one of my thumbs is busy using the remote -- we have a fabulous TV picture after a year and a half of blur!!
