We called Chad for an estimate and he immediately returned our call-something he did every time we had a question or concern! He waited until the weather was exactly right to pour the concrete. We appreciated his professionalism and pride of workmanship. He was on the job the entire time supervising and doing the work himself. He took time explaining each step of the process. We would highly recommend Chad and his company/C&C Concrete Construction. We had an excellent experience!
Description of Work: Our entire driveway was replaced. We also had a decorative stamp applied/Roman Slate. When the driveway was completed, they put a sealant over the surface to protect it. Chad explained exactly what we needed to do to take care of our beautiful new driveway!

We were very impressed with Chad and the people that work for him. They arrived on time and worked very professionally. They were neat in appearance and in their work environment. They all performed their duties and did not spend any time standing around. We plan on having Chad come back in September and seal the driveway (per his recommendation). We will also file a report in one year to let you know how the driveway is doing. We would highly recommend this company!

I liked them because they did quality work, the crew was good to work with and they used good fill dirt around a sidewalk that they poured as well. They also planted with grass seed. I asked them afterward to repair minor cement damage to the garage entrance as well. He quoted a fair rate and did good job.
Description of Work: I hired them to tear out an old cement garage floor that was cracked. They jacked it out, hauled it away and poured a new floor.

It was fantastic. They did a great job. I think the guy that came out was Chris. They showed up when they were supposed to show up. They didn't cross us. They were very prompt in giving the bid to us at no extra cost. They honored the bid. They did everything on time as they promised. They cleaned up and left. I have actually called them for an estimate on a patio.

gave me a written and verbal breakdown of what they would do. They exceeded in quality compared to what others offered. They showed up early and stayed late. Started ahead of schedule and finished before they were scheduled to start. Every man showed pride in what they were doing. They were not satisfied with thats good enough. It looks good. I feel assured it will last. They cleaned up when they were done ( not on a dailey basis but when work was completed. They did several extras I had asked forwhile they were there without gouging me $$ 1 THEY SAID THEY WERE GOOD AND THEY WERE !! THANKS

These guys are such pros! They did an outstanding job and I couldn't be happier. Very punctual, kept me updated the entire project, and were just nice to work with. Pricey but worth it! I live in an older area and and have a 90 year old home that I was concerned about water getting into the basement due to the cracking concrete. C&C did a great job of pouring the concrete with the perfect drop so the patio and driveway move all water away from the house. If you want a job done right call them!

Less than one year later we noticed that there were cracks in one section. We called Chad Prater several times over the next year- he always returned our calls. He repeatedly said he would either be out or send someone out to look at the problem. Finally in the spring of 2010 he sent someone out to seal the section. It is shiny and does not match the remainder of the driveway(which he told us upfront - but it still looks bad). We now have additional cracks in more sections. A lot of money for something that has lasted less than two years. Our previous drive lasted nineteen years. Had they provided the same prompt professional attention to these problems our rating would be much higher. It would appear we will have to have these sections replaced.
Description of Work: Tore out/replaced driveway. We upgraded all materials to include Granite mix and ultra fibers. Work was completed in a prompt and professional manner. We were pleased with the look and recommended him to others at that time.

Chad Prater is the owner and personally gave us the price quote. He was on-site every day. His crew was respectful, professional, and punctual. C & C Concrete may cost a little more than some concrete contractors, but it uses granite rather and limestone. The garage floor floor was poured an inch thicker than competitors, and the rebar was spaced closer together. The company doesn't leave gaps along side the driveway but rather pours topsoil so it can be seeded. I highly recommend C&C Concrete.

Called 3 contractors for estimates to perform this work. C&C was the only contractor to call me back and do so promptly. The estimate was clear and described the work I wanted. C&C was very flexible with me on scheduling the work - between my travel for work and lots of rain that was making it tough to predict when the work could be preformed - C&C always called me before I had called them to find out what the status was on the work. They also were more than willing to work with my sprinkler company since a line and heads needed to be moved as part of the work. C&C also promised they would try to have minimal impact/damage to the surrounding area - WOW you could hardly tell they were there - they cleaned everything up and there was no damage done to my yard - I have at most 6 inches of dirt along the side of the pad that I will need to seed - incredible precision and attention to detail. Finally, the crew was polite and friendly as well as everyone elese I dealt with at C&C. AND the new pad looks great!

Chad's group did a nice job. He explained the benefit of the granite mix concrete which causes the price to be a little higher than some companies who do not use granite mix concrete, but the product is more durable. They did the work in less than a day and cleaned up the area when finished. I referred him to my neighbor who had the complete driveway / sidewalk done and she was very happy with the work. She then referred another friend to C&C.

Chad, the owner, is one of the most responsible, conscientious and organized individuals that we have had the pleasure of working with. He has made this a much more pleasureable experience with his professionalism and expertise. Due to his experience and professionalism the job was completed and cleaned up efficiently. We know we can count on Chad and his crew for any future projects. We are extremely pleased with the new driveway, sidewalk, and front steps. Lenn and Charla Kelley 2008 S. Apache Ln. Olathe.

Overall, I was disappointed in the lack of follow-through, and it makes me believe some other posts about what is a big enough job for them. Mine apparently was not.
Description of Work: I got a bid from them for a tear out and replace of my driveway and front walk, when I initially called to ask them questions regarding their cost versus the cost of other companies (what they do differently etc.) they were very responsive, but after I got a few more bids (to get a feel for the range of services and costs) I called them back to have some changes made to the bid and get some answers. I spoke to someone who said I would get a new bid and a call back, neither happened.

Project?? What project?? Important to me, not important to them.
Description of Work: I call this company because it was listed as the best in Kansas City for concrete work. Apperently, this listing has gone to their head. They told me my job was too small for them to do. I am sorry I bothered they by offering them cash money for my job that I want done right. They did promise that they would let me know about a contractor in my area that could do the job. They never bothered to call me back or send me an e-mail. Is this the best in Kansas City? I would be better off doing the work myself.

Response from C & C Concrete Construction LLC
I did return the member's call and spoke to his wife. They were wanting a bid to replacing their sidewalk. I explained to her they live outside of our service area. They live a 1 hour drive, one way, from our shop. I did call the concrete plant I use and they did not know of a contractor that serviced their area of Lees Summit, Mo.

They certainly exceeded our expectations. They started on one neighbor's driveway on a Thursday about noon and had all three driveways completely finished, with every spec of debris picked up, by Friday of the following week. They were amazing. I'd recommend them to anyone. Chad, the owner, definitely knows his business, quoted us a very fair price, stayed with the job 99% of the time, and was extremely conscientious about how the end result looked. The quality he and his company brought to the table is a vanishing art!

After bidding the project I selected C&C because of their attention to detail and desire for quality. They visited with me and my wife to understand our needs and wants, They began the job on time and finished on time. They listened to all my concerns and exceeded my expectations. I am extremely pleased with product and the new look of my home. If you have the desire to see for yourself before you contact C&C you may drive by my house at 9516 Pine St. Lenexa, Kansas and see for yourself. I will be pleased to refer C&C to anyone. I am grateful to Angie's List for helping me find C&C.

The boss and workers showed up on time to remove and replace our driveway. The Bobcat rolled out and the boss began digging up the old driveway with great speed and precision while the workers began measuring and laying out the forms where the new driveway would be poured. The old concrete was removed by noon and the majority of the driveway was poured by 5:00. The boss suspected rain the next day so he hussled to get the concrete truck out there and get most of the driveway poured, otherwise it would be a mess and delayed a day or two to dry out before more work could be done. It did rain the next day so no work was done, but the day after that the driveway was finished by noon. It was all done very quickly and profesionally.

I was very pleased with the way the work was done and in the finished product. The crew was very efficient and professional. They were careful of the surroundings, such as painted house, and adjoining flower beds. The workers were obviously well trained and proud of their work. They paid attention to detail being sure that lines were straight, etc. They used the best materials and had the needed equipment to do the job right. I would hire them again.

The work started the date we agreed upon. The crew arrived at 7:30, exactly when Chad said they would. The C&C crew consisted of Chad and four full time employees who (I verified) are well paid and fully insured (workmen?s compensation). It was obvious from the beginning they knew what they were doing. Chad drove the loader like a professional (thank heaven). The void under the floor was significant. It became more significant as the crew removed all of mud jacking material. In most areas the void was at least 18 inches in depth. Chad uses an electronic yardstick and the crew works with chalk lines to lay out a ?straight? floor, a ? inch slope to allow for drainage from the garage floor to the driveway, to determine the top level of the AB3 and the top of the concrete pour. It is an important and impressive process. Truck, after truck of AB3 compaction material arrived. It was laid out in six inch layers and each layer was compacted with a three foot square vibrating machine ? until the compacted AB3 was flush with the lower chalk line. Over 90 tons of AB3 was installed and compacted. Chad installed rebar at 12 inch centers attached to the foundation wall. That?s a ton of steel. The rebar is ?suspended? 2 ? inches above the compacted AB3. Wooden ?chairs? are used to maintain the height to ensure the rebar is ?centered? in the pour. Throughout the process, a high pressure sprayer is used to keep the construction site as clean as possible, but it is a construction site and during the process it isn?t pretty. Day one ended with the entire garage floor and subfloor removed and hauled away to an approved construction and demolition landfill, the AB3 installed and compacted, the rebar installed as outlined. It was an 11 hour day but they exactly what they said they would do. Day two started at 7:30 a.m. On day two the concrete arrived by the supplier Chad said it would. It was 4000 PSI and I verified the work order carried by the supplier. One gallon of water was added per square yard of concrete to make the concrete workable and maintain its inherent strength. The crew worked diligently moving the concrete from the cement truck to the garage, installing the supporting chairs to guarantee suspension of the rebar as they worked. The pour was exactly five inches. It was done quickly, the last five hours was spent finishing the top and cleaning the worksite. It also took over five hours using the high pressure sprayer to clean the driveway. Day two ended at 5:00 p.m. Day three started at 7:30 a.m. The crew used chalk lines to layout the predetermined ?crack-cuts?. The saw cutting was professional and quick. After the lines were saw cut Chad applied an expensive sealer product called ?tough seal? which aids in the curing of the concrete and gives the garage floor sheen. Todd delivered the requested lien waiver and I paid him in full as agreed. Day three ended at 2:30 p.m. If you have a concrete problem you need fixed and you are looking for someone you can trust to do a good job, you will not be disappointed if you hire Chad Prater at C&C Concrete. In the end he did what he promised. I consider Chad the best contractor I have ever hired for any job any time, bar none. It?s important readers to understand that prior to this job I had never met Chad Prater, that I have no vested interest in his company. If this sounds like I am a fan, it is because of my level of satisfaction. I could only attach four pictures (limitation of system). I decided not to show a "before and after" because the important thing to me is what is "underneath" and to insure the garage floor lives a longer life than me :-)
Description of Work: My seventeen year old garage floor is almost 1000 sq. ft. It is a three car garage with a tandem third stall that holds a 36 foot RV. Unfortunately, the concrete floor failed. The original builder filled the area underneath the garage floor with clay soil, covered it with gravel then poured concrete. Over time, the clay settled. The floor sag was so bad the vehicles parked in the garage appeared to have broken springs and shocks. In the winter, when the snow melted off the vehicles, the puddles on the garage floor were three inches deep. I had to constantly use a squeegee to keep the “lake” out. Two previous times I had mud jacking installed. The process did not “lift” the garage floor as advertised, but I believed it filled the void under the floor and, as a result, my cars wouldn’t fall through the floor. Then, seven years later the cracks got worse and the floor appeared to be sinking deeper, the cars leaning farther, than before. I didn’t know anything about garage floors or concrete, nor did I want to. Not only did I need my garage floor replaced, I needed to know the fix would be permanent and the problem would not recur because I never wanted to fix this again…ever. I had zero trust in concrete contractors because I felt they could easily take advantage of me and my lack of knowledge. I went on a quest to learn as much as possible. I visited with the Public Works Department at the City of Overland Park. They talked to me about the importance of preparation including: 1) Completely removing the existing floor and everything underneath the floor, even the mud jacking material. 2) The use and proper application of AB3, a compaction material that serves as a sub floor. 3) The proper spacing and installation of rebar – centered in the pour 4) 4000lb PSI concrete from a reputable supplier 5) The “slope” of the pour to guarantee drainage 6) The installation process 7) The finish, sealing and curing process 8) The value of selecting a reputable contractor Granted all of this stuff can be found online but I wanted information local to my geography with the knowledge of our clay based soils. I learned the city never uses mud jacking because “it doesn’t work”. I called three reputable contractors. All three called me back, visited the site, talked extensively with me and mailed / emailed estimates within a week. I was convinced that I could work with two of the three, but one of the two, Chad Prater who owns C&C Concrete stood out. Without knowing I had spent time doing research, Chad described in detail everything I had learned from objective public works employees. He explained his approach to the problem and detailed exactly what I could expect from C&C. I was skeptical; perhaps Chad is just a good salesman. The three bids ranged from $6200 to 10,900. I threw out the low bid because it was not “apples-to-apples”. The top end bid was open ended depending on what they found underneath the floor. I was disappointed with C&C’s bid because it didn’t detail the verbal commitments made to me personally. I wrote an email to Chad detailing what I considered to be our agreement. Chad called, we went through the email point-by-point and then he said: “ I promise, that when this process is finished, you will consider me the best contractor you have every hired for any job any time”. When I inquired about what would happen if he ran into “unexpected consequences” Chad guaranteed his price was firm regardless. C&C got the job.

Fantastic job. Everything was very professional and helpful from the initial bid to the final cleanup. This was a relatively small job but we were treated like we were their most important customer. We couldn't be more pleased with this work. The bid was done promptly, explained fully and given to us in a clear written form. We had several bids but the price from C & C Concrete was competitive and we were very comfortable with the way everything was explained to us. I was pleased that Chad, the owner, was present and participated in doing the work. The crew was very professional, friendly, and did an excellent and careful job. The work was done when promised and in the manor that was promised. The work was fast, efficient, and the work site was left spotless. Chad explained to us that the concrete he uses is higher quality than most and that he uses black granite rock rather than softer limestone that is commonly used. A neighbor stopped by to ask about the work and Chad washed off a handful of the wet concrete and showed us that indeed all the rock in it was black granite. This company did not ask for any money up front. Over all we couldn't be happier with this work and we definitely intend to do business again with C & C Concrete.

We chose C&C because they gave a reasonable bid price (not the highest, not the lowest). We also chose them because they were going to use granite rock, they were going to pour the garage thicker than other companies and Chad fully explained how they would do the job. Tear-out was a big job and they did it quickly and without making a huge mess. The garage and driveway looked 100% better just with the tamped gravel in place. With the packed gravel and lots of rebar we expect this work to last a long time. Chad worked on-site with his crew just as he had said he would. He and the crew were friendly and polite and did a great job of cleaning up the work site every day before they left. The front steps were tricky to reinstall but they figured out a way to rebuild them making them level (even though our house is not!). The finished product is a work of art - the garage floor is smooth and gently slopes out of the door as it should/ the driveway has nice detail in the cuts and brushed finish and the steps are level and solid. Chad and company pay attention to the details of their work (including sinking piers under the steps to help hold them in place, putting some pvc through the steps so we could run a powercord, replacing some landscape edging they had to tear out, replacing the dirt on sides of the driveway where forms were built and putting a nice finish on the surface of the concrete). We are very pleased with all aspects of working with C&C Concrete and we have already recommended them to friends and co-workers.
Description of Work: Tore out driveway, jackhammered and removed garage floor and tore out front steps. Gravel was brought in to level all areas which had settled. The gravel was then tamped into place, frames were built and rebar was laid. They poured the garage floor first, then steps and finally the driveway and curb. Protective sealer was then applied to all surfaces.
