I suggested dates in my email thru Angies list. DHG had been out and measured the house and they called to ask which area, I needed.They came one morning and did the job very quick and left. I prefer to have a walk thru after any job. It seems to be working well in the rain. The Angie's list bid deal price was much better than what another contractor had asked for the same job.

The most important thing to know is that David Hazen group did very good work on my gutters and I thought the quoted price of $575 was fair for the work being done. However, it is also important to know that dealing with the David Hazen group is difficult. Their communication with customers is terrible. Their estimator, Duane, scheduled my job for a few weeks out. I asked to be notified so I could be home when the workers came. I tried to call Duane to confirm, but his cell phone messages were full. So I called the office and was told, "oh, nobody can get hold of Duane". I called the office again in a week. Turns out the workers were there that very day and no one had notified me. So I rushed home from work and they were gone. They had only done half the work on the work order. So I called the office because, after all, "nobody can get hold of Duane." The office called Duane, explained the situation, and he got the workers back over there the same day. They did a good job. But it would not have happened if I had not called the office on my own, come home early from work, and monitored the situation. About 2 weeks later I got the bill for $50 more than the original estimate. It said an additional 8 foot of gutter was needed. This is probably true--I do not think they were lying--but no one told me an additional 8 feet was needed and I certainly never agreed to it. Now, I'm sure I would have agreed to it, and in fact I'll pay it. But the point is, no one from Hazen is going to tell you anything. So I called the office again to ask about the $50. Someone called Duane and he said it was because I needed 8 additional feet of gutter. I knew that already. The question is, "why didn't someone tell me at the time?" I will probably never know the answer to that question because, as you now know, nobody can get hold of Duane. I could have drug this out, but the fact is, it was only $50, and the people in the office are totally disconnected from what is going on out in the field. I know this might sound odd, but I will probably use David Hazen Group again. The work was done professionally, including the first work they did and the work they had to return to finish. I needed some additional gutter screen and they provided it. The cost was fair. Their work is good. But communication is terrible, so know this before you call them.

My only complaint was their responsiveness. When I initially contracted with the through Angie's list, it said I would be contacted within 2 business days by the provider. On the 4th or 5th day when I still had heard nothing, I called Angie's List and talked with a gentlemen who said he would look into the matter and call me back or have the provider call me. Several days later I did receive a call from the David Hazen Group. I told them I would like to look at the product further, and he did bring it out for me to see. I decided that I wanted the better and more expense product, and they said they would get in touch with me to schedule installation. After another week when I didn't hear anything, I called their office to see if I could get a installation date. I was told she would check and get back to me. Two days later she called & said they would try to get the work completed that week. One or two days later they called & asked if it would be alright to install that day, and I agreed that would be fine. The work was completed in a short time, and the workers cleaned up any leaves or debris that were in the gutters.

I contacted the company to solve the issue of water running down the back of my house, instead of into the gutters. Andy Harshberger gave me an estimate of $125 to clean the gutters, and $350 to "re-secure/re-slope gutters." On 3/18, I gave him the go ahead to do the work. On 3/21, Duane Ward contacted me and said they could do the work that day. I had wanted to be home for the work, but the water was causing issues at my home, so I gave him the go-ahead to do the work. I received no correspondence from him about the work, or whether or not it had been completed. On 3/26 I received the bill for the service. On 3/27, it rained and I could see that my problem had not been solved at all ? I still had water pouring down the side of my house. On 3/28, I called Andy, who had provided me the estimate, and told him that the problem was still there. He told me the work HAD NOT BEEN DONE, and I told him that Duane had contacted me and told me they were doing it on 3/21, and I had already received a bill. He said he would talk to Duane and see what was going on. At that point I made the comment that the communication, between them and me, and between themselves, was very bad and to please keep me in the loop about what was going on. The next communication I got was on 3/28 ? Duane said he was AT MY HOUSE (I was at work). I told him what the problem was, and he said he would check it out, and mentioned something about flashing. I asked him to call me back and let me know what was going on. There was NO FURTHER COMMUNICATION on that day, so I had no idea what had happened, but assumed that the problem had been fixed. On 3/29, it rained again and I could see that nothing had changed ? water was still running down the side of my house. I called Duane and asked if they had done anything; he said ?no?, that the roof needed to be repaired, and he would send me an estimate for that work. (Why didn?t he call me to tell me this?) On 3/31, Andy called me and said he was coming to look at the problem; he did not know anything about Duane having been there on Friday ? again, there was no communication between them. When Andy arrived, I told him of my frustrations with the company, and the poor communication, which I found to be mostly attributed to Duane. At that point he told me that Duane OWNS the company. Andy seemed to understand my frustrations, and he told me he would come and fix it himself the next day, since we were expecting more rain the days after. Later in the day, I called Andy (as he had requested) and he told me he himself would fix the problem the next day, and would charge me $125. He said he would call me before he arrived, and that he would take pictures when he was done so I could see that the problem had been fixed. The next day, 4/1, I did not receive any communication from Andy, or anyone from the company. On 4/2, at 2:00 am, because I wasn?t able to sleep due to the rain pouring down the side of my house, I sent an email to the company notifying them I did not want any more contact with them, and they were not allowed on my property. Besides the poor, poor customer service and the unreliability and lying that this company has done, I have a problem with the fact that they did not diagnose the real root cause of my problem, which was the roof and not the gutters. The company advertises roofing along with their other areas of service, so the fact that they didn?t notice/tell me that the roof was the problem, either on the initial estimate or one of the two times they were messing around with the gutters, is extremely unprofessional. My second issue with them is, if they really did re-secure and re-slope the gutters, which I have no proof of, this was unnecessary work, and I don?t think I should be held liable for it.

Everything went great! Would use them in a heartbeat all over again!

They did a good job. The guys are terrific. They are great people to work with. We really like to work with the David Hazen Group. I have recommended them to friends all the time.

I had planned to paint the basement but there were several areas that needed patching which were not part of the big deal. They didn't seem interested in painting other areas in the basement. The entire basement would have cost $1,200 and I was hoping to get an area done with a painter for the day. I decided then to have the fence painted, however, they showed up unexpectedly while I was at work, so I did not have paint available for them.

The chimney cap replacement was an Angie's List fixed price online coupon/deal; the additional work was recommended. Initial response from Hazen Group came almost immediately after placing order through Angie's List. A time was schedule to come out to inspect and measure chimney. We anticipated that they would recommend sealing the prefab wood frame chimney and painting/refurbishing the flue cover made sense as well. The chimney cap was custom fabricated based on the dimensions of the chimney so it took a week or so for them to come back for installation and to complete the additional work. Once I responded to their proposal email by giving them the approval for the additional work I didn't hear from them for a few days. They did responded almost immediately when I sent an email to make sure they had received my approval email and to request a status update. It might have been a little better if they had sent an update email when the job was approved at their end and sent to their scheduler/dispatcher. But this was not a big deal. Given the location of the work it's impossible to do an up close inspection. From the ground the chimney cap and flue cover look great. They came and did the work while we were out of the house so I can't comment on what went on while the work was being performed. But they came and went and left no sign that they were even there. The real test will come with another rain storm or two. It did rain last night (5/11) and early this morning (5/12) and no sign of water seepage so far. The cost seemed reasonable, but I did not spend much time researching other vendors or getting other proposals.

Service performed was good but getting an appointment to get the service was lacking. I had to call them several times to get an appointment after ai signed up & prepaid for the special.

I got a call the night before asking for details around the gutter replacement so that the crew would have the correct equipment and materials with them. They had already told me that I didn't need to be home. I got a call the next morning that they were on the way. Bottom line, they did a very nice job and cleaned up pretty well (there were a few pieces of roofing material from the gutter that was on the deck). The new downspout looks great and you can't tell that it was replaced. I would definitely call them again.

Service was prompt, project manager knowledgable, efficent, professional. A week when it rained, the new gutters installed with covers prevented adequate drainage and function. We called David Hazen Group, the project manager was there with a team the same day we called. Excellent response time and correction. Will be using company again.

They got here on time, inspected gutters and roof. One gutter had to be removed, cut, and refitted. They replaced a floodlight which is 2-stories up that I couldn't reach (thanks).

This service provider responded the same day to my request for service. The crew of two not only reattached my gutter but also noted two other potential problems on the outside of my house. I think that this company is very professional, reasonable, and honest.

I scheduled for them to come out and give an estimate of work. They did come out for estimate but after I signed the agreement on 4/12/14 to schedule work, I never heard back from them. On 4/22/14, I had to call to ask why nothing was scheduled. April then informed me she was the only one there and would have to get back to me. I then cancelled my work order because if they don't have time to contact me and schedule work, I need to find someone who does. Very disappointed.

The man called after he was scheduled to come out for the estimate. He wasn't going to make it. It was few days before he could come out again. He finally comes out and is very nice & knowledgeable. He even tells us not to use the handyman deal or the painting deal because both projects will be well under the price of the deals.We are getting read y to list our house and have a tight budget with multiple projects we need to finish. We are thrilled! He said the quote will be emailed to us. We had to call multiple times to get the quote. It only listed the first two projects. We are thrilled with the price and ask for the painting quote. We never hear back. We call his number again & again to schedule the first two projects & get the other quote. NO response. We finally do the first project ourselves. I call about 3 weeks later to get the quote for painting. I am told it will be emailed. I call the following day, ask again, again told it will be emailed. The third morning I call the office and they know who I am from caller id. My quote is being emailed today. I ask if I can have them out next week & if I can get the quote over the phone. The quote is much much more than the 8 hour deal I was going to purchase (two people for 8 hours for about $400)! I am beyond disappointed with this company. I was told the job would be LESS then the 8 hour deal! It ended up being over $2,000 for one eave of our house to be painted. I think its worth saying that we are laid back people and NEVER once raised our voices or were nothing but polite & understanding through this process. If the quote was as reasonable as we were led to believe it would be we would have used this company because the reviews on this site are so good. We wasted a month on this & now we have to start over and try to find another painter.

We have been extremely pleased with everything that we have had the David Hazen Group do. They get the work done in quickly, well done, and leave things clean. Cannot ask for more. We are getting ready to have them turn a covered patio into a "real room". Linda Williams

We needed our gutters to be fixed so they came, they gave us a quote, and we went with it. They said they were coming and then they didn't show up, and then I had to call, but they did their job well. We use them on a regular basis.

These folks were prompt, professional, and very good. Highly recommended.

Roof was fine but they quoted us around $250 to repair the plaster in one of our bedrooms ceilings. We wanted it repaired ASAP but they never called us back that day. When we called the office the next day asking why no one called us back, we were asked for our telephone number and name. it's been 5 days and still no return phone call.

I contacted Angie's list and my rule of thumb is always whenever I need help to contact Angie's List and ask for the top 5 companies and they gave me the listing. I shopped around the recommendations. My mother is an 80 year old women struggling with income and needed help. The winter storm knocked over a 5 foot long down spout and it fell off from the upstairs window. I talked with the company and stated that it was a minor job and they needed to reattach the piece and explained my mothers condition. I wanted reasonable price because they could fix it within ten minutes. I contacted David Hazen group. I explained what needed to be done and they said they would charge service calls and also a trip charge and asking for quite a bit of money. I did not go through with the deal because it wasn't worth all the extra charges and time just for a small project.

They sent a guy named Tony out to paint for a day for 199. He is the BEST painter I have ever had. I am making a "man cave" and his attention to detail was amazing. He really cared about his work. The paint job was fabulous, and he went out of his way to make it perfect!!!

Received on email requesting contact info to set up an appointment which i replied and then didn't hear back to schedule any appointment to the present date.
