David Hazen Group LLC

On June 19, 2015, I received an unsolicited estimate in an email from the David Hazen Group saying that Duane and Boyd had been in my area and saw that I needed some work done on my chimney. The estimate was for $1120. Since my chimney is not visible from the street this time of year, I had to conclude that either these two gentlemen trespassed on my property or looked at an aerial photograph. Regardless, I was not pleased, and I declined their offer. Perhaps they should change their company name to the David Brazen Group! (Follow-up): This morning (June 20, 2015), I researched the item identified in the estimate as needing to be cleaned and replaced. I didn't think we had such an item, so I went outside to check and, sure enough, we don't. (June 26, 2015 update) To his credit, I received a polite emailed apology from Duane, acknowledging that he was out of line in sending me the above email solicitation. I was impressed that, in this day and age, there still are a few honorable people who admit their mistakes and apologize for them. Because of this, I changed my initial F ratings to C ones.

During a cold snap, I'd planned to have a fire in our wood-burning fireplace. I pulled the lever to open the flu and something dropped down, pinged and then disappeared and I couldn't get the thing to work again. My husband tried for a while, but the house is 65 years old and the fireplace/chimney is the original. Finally got around to calling SnapFix for help. Jay from Hazen Group came by and I showed him the issue. (I'd cleaned out the fireplace prior, but it's still sooty up there.) He quickly saw that he could fix the thing, grabbed some pliers and did it on the spot. I was totally embarrassed at the simple fix, which he didn't charge me for. He was so super nice. We'll be calling on Jay to come back to fix the windowboxes out front that have cracks and separation issues and will be using Hazen for all our home repair stuff. The windowboxes are going to be a big job but I'm pretty sure I can count on Jay.

Tony was the painter and he was polite, professional and did an excellent job. I appreciated that he called before he came and worked steadily to finish the job in one day. The entry way looks beautiful and I would definitely use him and the David Hazen Group again. When I called the David Hazen Group they were also professional and polite.

Jason (the project manager) did a great job of staying in regular communication with me and following up on any items that needed modification as the job progressed. The job was completed on schedule and all of the items they worked on look great and I think our house is in great shape to sell now! I will definitely use this group in the future for other jobs that are needed on my new house I'm moving to.

Ultimately it went fine. There was a mishap when the guys were at my house, but they immediately called it to my attention. The owner called and we worked it out to my satisfaction. Their work is good.

Responded promptly to my order, came on time, crew did a thorough job. Gutters have drained fine all winter and spring.

This was an Angie'list big deal for $!65.00 gutter cleaning for homes between 3.000 to 3,500 sq. ft.

They were very good. I was impressed with how careful they were with the scaffolding as it was right next to my shrubbery. They didn't damage any of it and the finished product looked great!

The painter showed up when he said and completed the work in a timely manner. He did an excellent job and I would and probably will use them again.

I have had David Hazen do a few jobs for me over the years and the work was always high quality. You don't get a uniformed guy coming to your door to do an estimate who doesn't know much about what he's talking about. You basically get the person who will be in charge of the crew to do the work. Some people are put off by that, but I like being confident they know what they are getting into before taking on a job. I would hire this company again.

It was good. It was easy to schedule and I didn't have negative or any issues with the process itself.

The workers arrived at the scheduled date and time. They removed about one third of our original roof where we had problems. Then they put down new "tar paper" and installed the new shingles. All scrap materials were picked up and taken away. The project took about one and a half days. Work proceeded at a reasonable pace, never rushed. This was a big difference from the original home builder roofers. Often the Centex roofers would be firing the nail gun about as fast as humanly possible. The Hazen Group employees pointed out that the reason our roof was leaking was because our home builder failed to install the shingles properly. Overall, we were very happy with the Hazen Group work and would definitely use them again for another project.

We've used the David Hazen Group a number of times over the years... mostly gutter and/or roof work. It's always been a smooth process... prompt estimate, quality work performance, good clean up, etc.

We purchased a Big Deal for 8 hours of exterior painting. Tony was the painter assigned to our job. We asked him to paint the majority of our wood trim on the front of our 2-story house including a large bump-out bay window. I had already purchased paint for the job. Since the spring weather wasn't very cooperative, Tony kept in touch with me when the weather forecast would look promising. We finally got some good weather and Tony made our house a priority to get us taken care of. He did a fantastic job and worked fast. I would definitely hire Tony again!

David Hazen Group has done work for me previously (roof inspection and repair as well as gutter cleaning and repair), and I had been happy with the level of service and professionalism in addition to the quality of the work done. Their most recent work for me, repairing the flashing at the top of my chimney and replacing a sliding patio door, has further entrenched them as my "go-to" contractor for home maintenance and repair. As with the previous work done, the two latest jobs were completed to my satisfaction. Working with their employees is better than most other contractors -- they are polite and very willing to listen and answer questions. I would recommend them to anyone.

The service from the team was excellent. They were flexible and punctual. I will definitely make them my first call for any future needs.
