The carpentry work is good and looks nice overall. The job itself was a nightmare. Pat Koeberlein is the owner, and he was bad about returning phone calls or responding to our requests. We had to leave 3 or 4 messages over the period of a week before he'd return phone calls - unless he wanted another draw, and then we'd hear from him within the hour! We live out of state most of the year and were not present on a daily basis, however we did keep an eye on the progress and were present for 4-5 days each month. His crew did not clean up daily - the drywall dust accumulated on all our personal belongings. Our home theater system electronics were not covered up or protected, even though they were knocking down a wall and working with drywall in that room. His crew also used our personal cleaning tools (vacuum, brooms, dry mops, etc) to do some clean up after we complained. Our living room carpet was not protected or covered up in any way, and looks like it was used as a drop cloth. There are wood stains on it, as well as blobs of plaster. After the job was entirely finished his crew allegedly cleaned. It took me 3 days, with the help of a professional cleaning service, to get my house in livable shape. My cleaning lady expressed several times how incredibly filthy the house was, and she could not believe any contractor would leave a job in that shape. Many personal items of mine were damaged: our dryer was dented on top, resulting in the drum scraping against the top of the dryer when it ran. A lamp was broken, one of our toilets was chipped, and our wood floors were damaged. The painter we hired dripped paint & then removed some of the finish trying to clean off the paint. One spot on the floor was sanded down & restained - without our knowledge or consent! Later, Pat took it upon himself to replace boards in an attempt to fix what was damaged. Again, he did this without our knowledge or consent. He called me after to "suggest" I go ahead and refinish the floor since there were "spots where the finish is gone" and gave me an estimate for how much that would cost me. It took about 3 weeks to get him to admit he had replaced some boards himself (with wood that didn't match & was a completely different type.) He has flat out refused to turn a claim in to his liability carrier!! He did finally respond only after we sent a letter, but unfortunately his insurance agent also failed to turn a claim in and essentially said we'd have to do it if we wanted to. This is amazingly unprofessional. He was recommended to me by my neighbor, who is an interior designer and who I hired to help me with this project, but that doesn't seem to have any effect on him. He is not very good about finishing a punch list, and ended up telling us that he would not be able to "please you people." My husband used to be a general contractor and knows how to run a job and what items should be taken care of. He said he has NEVER seen someone with such a lack of regard for a homeowners personal items.
Description of Work: Replaced woodwork throughout entire house, added crown moulding, new front/back door, updated guest shower, enlarged interior doorways, rebuilt staircase
