Bowden Ceramic Tile

Wayne did most of the work himself and did a fantastic job. He was kind enough to "work us into" his busy schedule and we were pleasantly surprised when he kept his word and finished the job in less than a week! Wayne's work was meticulous and the happy results speak for themselves - no more leak! The wall tiles match perfectly, and the new floor tiles look great. Wayne's excellent work was only enhanced by his good communication, promptness, cleaning up after work every day, and overall pleasant demeanor. We would definitely hire Wayne again for all future bathroom remodeling work.

Absolutely love the end product. I was looking for someone who would do excellent work, but also someone dependable who would come when he said he would, work on my job until it was done (not a half day here and there and skip off to another job while I had a half done shower)and be trusted to be in my home when I was not. And also someone who would only do what I needed done and let me do the rest to keep the total project cost down. Wayne is all of those things. Start to finish the process took about 2 weeks of using the kids bathroom which included the glass being ordered and installed. Wayne was able to suggest an electrician to do some of my other work and even coordinated with him to make the electrician's job easier. He communicated frequently so I always knew what was going on. Absolutely would use him again.

The shower looks GREAT! After the plumbing issue was fixed, Wayne and Dan had to remove all boards and tile; which exposed black mold under the tile floor. They removed all the tile from the 9 ft. walls and 8ft. floor,replaced the subfloor, built a new curb around the bottom, installed a new waterproof membrane, and installed a second layer of concrete before they even laid the first tile. They laid the tile and created a unique trim. There work was of the highest quality. Every day they arrived on time and covered our wood floors and stairs with tarps. The remodel took a week, and every day they cleaned up after themselves; leaving nothing in our way. They swept up every last piece of broken tile and grout every day. I would highly recommend them. I used them because of their excellent reviews on Angie's List, therefore, I felt I should continue their praises after a job well done. I would definitely use them again. In fact, they are quoting me on a new floor and cabinets now.

Wayne Bowden was exceptional to work with. I was extremely impressed by his thoroughness and attention to detail, and he exceeded my expectations with his work. This was the most enjoyable dealings with a professional contractor I have ever had. From the very beginning at the time of the estimate, Wayne listened carefully to what we did not like about our current master bathroom and what we were thinking of doing, and then concisely laid out options that were practical while beautifying, and guided us away from ideas that were potentially awkward or high-maintenance/upkeep in the long-run. The major modification for the master bathroom was the shower. The prefab fiberglass shower the house came with was too small and leaking, causing drywall damage. Wayne, and his assistant, Dan, tore out the old shower stall and expanded the footprint of the shower floor to approx. 48" x 54", creating a comfortable-sized shower for daily use. Drywall was replaced with cement board. The drain was moved to re-center it, the shower head and temp dials were shifted over on the wall to enable the user to reach in to turn the shower on to pre-heat, without needing to step into the shower. Insulation against outer walls was verified to be appropriate before the walls were sealed back up. In our case, the hot and cold pipes were reversed by the previous owner, and Wayne corrected that for us. We chose the wall and floor tile from his preferred vendor, but chose our glass block detailing from Menard's, which he was more than happy to accommodate. Wayne explained the reason behind the use of different tile sizes on different parts of the bathroom, and the pros and cons of different textures/surfaces when choosing tile and the detailing with it. A waterproof membrane was added between the two layers of flooring concrete beneath the tile of the shower floor, with the taper towards the drain designed very uniformly. Custom 3/4" glass was used for the door and half-wall built between the shower and tub (fabricated and installed by Tremain Corp.). It came together beautifully. A boxed ledge was added between the shower and tub to give the bathing space continuity, and Wayne carried design elements around from the tub to the half wall creating a very beautiful space. The initial plan was to remove the tile on the tub's base, but the Luan plywood was thinner than expected, and a rebuild would be necessary if tile removal damaged the Luan (which was likely). Wayne came up with Plan B, which was to overlay the new tile on top of the old, which would reduce labor costs, as well. I was a bit tentative about this option, but it turned out beautifully and looked better than I had expected. It added further rigidity to the tub's base, and gives the tub a very nice finish. Wayne estimated a little more than a week to complete the job. When tear-out was complete and tiling was to begin, it was discovered that the manufacturer had only shipped the wall and shower floor tile, but not the 12" x 12" tile for the bathroom floor. Wayne immediately communicated the delay to me, and requested the tile be expedited directly to his location, which the manufacturer complied. Due to the delay, Wayne offered to work on Saturday to make up one of the lost days, which also allowed the grout to harden to ensure the glass could be installed on Monday. Wayne never left each day until all of my questions were answered about what as saw as progress was being made. I was never made to feel in their way when I came to check on the progress of the work. In fact, I was invited to come and check and take photos. They never left early unless the only thing left for the day was dry time. Cleanup was great - debris was never left in the bathroom, and the garage and driveway was always swept at the end of each day. Tarps covered the entire path from front door to upstairs bathroom, protecting our carpet and hardwood floors. Both Wayne and Dan were very likable personalities and were a joy to have in and out of the house all day for a week. Wayne even explained what he was doing at child-level when my preschooler and elementary-aged children would peek in.

Mr. Bowden identified the problem with our shower tile and made our shower usable again. We are very pleased with his work.

Original estimate was right on and I got more than my money's worth. I scheduled the job 1-2 weeks in advance. The job estimate was 1 week/5 days. Both jobs done in the allowed time. 2nd job done 1 day earlier. 1st bathroom-tear out tub, put in new shower, tiled from floor to ceiling, built new shower. Tiled floor into linen closet. New vanity/marble top. Towel bars. installed medicine cabinet. 2nd bathroom-gutted out whole bathroom, replaced everything. New tub, toilet, vanity, medicine cabinet. Tiled floor and wall in tub area to ceiling.

From start to finish, I am extremely pleased with my experience working with Wayne Bowden/Bowden Ceramic Tile. First, due to luck, he was able to fit us in slightly over a week after my initial phone call (this is after calling several other companies that could not fit us in, did not do the type of work that Wayne does, or did not return a phone call). He was able to come out within approximately 24 hours to give us a quote (a Thursday evening), which we then received in the mail on Saturday - a 24 hour turnaround time. During the weekend prior to our appointment, we received a phone call and a few text messages to confirm his arrival date/time. Wayne arrived promptly at 8 am. Before his helper arrived, he took the time to lay down floor protectors across all walking/working areas to protect our hardwood and carpet. Not wanting to interrupt their work, I stayed out of the way, but Wayne stopped at various intervals to make sure I saw the progress. He was extremely professional and took the time to explain what he was doing. Wayne exceeded all expectations. We will definitely call Bowden Ceramic Tile again in the future. If there were a rating higher than an A to give on Angie's List, this guy would get it!

Wayne Bowden originally did a tile backsplash for us in 2003 during a partial kitchen remodel. We liked his work so much that we contacted him again to do a new backsplash for a total kitchen remodel this year. The new backsplash was more complicated because of the picture frame design required over the cooktop and the diagonal pattern carried out in the rest of the backsplash. Wayne was originally recommended to us by a very satisfied friend in 2003. We liked the work he did for us then and are very happy with the workmanship on the new backsplash. It is a work of art!

It went pretty well except for a few days when provider left early.

This review of Bowden Ceramic Tile is long overdue. I guess I was waiting because I wanted to make sure I wrote the best review possible, being as descriptive as I could and using all the superlatives that he deserves. Then I realized that it wasn?t about the words I used or the way in which I wrote the review. In fact, it isn?t about me at all, but about Wayne Bowden and the art of tile-setting which he practices. He is a true artisan. I ditto all previous comments by other contributors regarding his precision, punctuality and neatness. Wayne?s work ethic is outstanding and he is quick to think outside the box. His character is beyond reproach. My bathroom project came with challenges which were faced matter-of-factly and calmly. I do not need to detail those challenges here, but want to emphasize that Wayne Bowden went far above and beyond ordinary efforts in order to give me a stunning bath. I hope to be able to hire him again for a couple of future projects. I can?t imagine hiring anyone else.

I am extremely happy with the service and product Wayne provided us! From the initial contact to completion, Wayne and his team were fantastic! He started the job on the date he said he would, he was here the entire day, every day, doing the work. He was very professional and courteous to our schedule and our home, making sure everything was kept clean and tidy. He finished the job quickly since he took advantage of the weekend to work while we were away, allowing him to complete the job ahead of schedule. He offered several great suggestions and it was easy to see the pride he takes in his work and that he really knows what he is doing! I would definitely recommend him to others. Thanks Wayne, we LOVE our new bathroom!!!!

Great. Came when he said he would and took very little time in fixing it and did not charge us for it.

Excellent. Mr. Bowden was very professional, punctual, neat, and polite. He was able to squeeze us into his very busy schedule and the whole process took about 2 weeks from giving him the ok to the final product. The only glitch was a hold up on some of the tile that I ordered. It took a bit longer to arrive than anticipated. However, the finished product is beautiful and functional. I plan to use this company in the future for my upstairs bathroom when the time comes.

Bowden Ceramic Tile done excellent work. They were prompt and friendly. The price was little high but the tile work looks gorgeous.

Wayne Bowden is very professional and takes pride in his work. He discusses what he is doing and makes sure that his customer is happy with the work being done. He starts on time every morning and cleans up the work area at the end of each day including using his industrial sweeper. He also lays tarp down every morning in the work area. Overall: EXCELLENT WORKMANSHIP, BEAUTIFUL AND PRECISE TILE WORK. REALLY GREAT JOB.

It went very well. Wayne was very punctual everyday and laid drop clothes through the house in the areas he had to walk through. He was very good about cleaning up and his work was excellent. He let me know exactly what was going to happen and what he was doing. His estimates were very detailed.

They are awesome. He is always on time and does a great job.

It turned out excellent. We have used them twice because we liked them so well. He is very neat, precise, and punctual. He wrote an estimate and that was what the final cost was. He was on time and there were no surprises with the work. We would definitely use him again.

Wayne came to the house, surveyed the shower, and talked with us about the work we wanted done. The estimate was free and we received the written estimate within two days of his visit. The work was begun in a timely manner. Wayne was VERY punctual. He said that he would start at 8:00 am and he was at the house ready to start at 8:00! He took all the steps that he could to minimize the mess in the rest of the house by putting cloths on the floor from the work area through the house to the garage door. He cleaned up (really cleaned up) after himself every evening before leaving. His helper cut the concrete board in the garage and they cleaned the garage every night so that I could pull my car into the garage. Wayne and his helper, Dan, WORKED the entire time they were in the house. Wayne explained the process to me and the stages in which the work would progress. There were no surprises with either the work that needed to be done or the price. Both men were pleasant and very professional about their work. They brought their lunches, ate, and went right back to work. This project was completed in three days and the shower looks incredible. We were so pleased with the work that we requested estimates from Wayne for additional tile work in both bathrooms. I have already recommended Wayne to two friends who are interested in bathroom work and would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone else.

Wayne came out and listened to both my husband and I as to what we wanted. He gave us an estimate and since we had used his services one before, we knew he was really good and we said to go ahead and do the work. He ordered the new luxury height sink cabinet and marble top and the 3 new toilets. When he came out to do the work he had to remove the old sink and countertop and cut out the lowest row of tiles so that the new sink cabinet would fit in its place. He did an absolutely perfect job of fitting it into the space we had. He then replaced all 3 toilets. He took the sink countertop which he had removed from our master bath and cut it to fit into the downstairs half bath. He removed the 4 rows of 4" tiles which were surrounding the sink and he put in the countertop from upstairs. Then he tiled around it and did a beautiful job. He noticed (as had I) that the caulking around the lower part of the cabinet was pulling away, so he removed it and placed bullnose tile all the way down to the floor trim. We couldn't be happier with everything he did and he is such a pleasure to work with. We'd recommend him any day and if ever we have tiling needs again, we will call on Wayne.
