The ramp was put in in a timely manner. The stairs and railing were done fine. In July they started on the bathrooms. I had everything picked out in a timely manner. We used Ferguson plumbing supplies, Affordable cabinets for tile and vanities. The problems we had were from all these companies. I will attempt to list some of the problems. 1. When they started work in early July the sub contractors would come about 10:00 and leave by 3:00 and several days they would not come at all. Consequently it was December 21 st before it was completed. Some of the delays were due to Ferguson plumbing and Affordable not sending materials on time or sending broken or reordering items that were ordered wrong. 2. Affordable cabinets did not measure correctly and sent a shorter vanity so that had to be reordered in a larger size. Then they sent the wrong vanity top for the guest bath. They actually sent the wrong top the second time, but it was my second choice. So we didn't reorder that. 3. We never did see any good floor plans for example it would have been nice to have computer generated pictures or detailed floor plans. All we ever saw were sketches. 4 Ferguson plumbing was a major cause for delay. They could not get the right hardware for the stoppers and water controls. I had brushed nickel in the master bath and polished chrome in the guest bath. They miss ordered the stopper in the guest bath at least 3 times. The sink in the guest bath was broken and had to be reordered. 5. Home safe homes ordered oak doors for the bathrooms and bedroom. We had poplar doors throughout the rest of the house. We asked those to be changed to poplar. They never did ask our preference. Then they did a very poor job of staining the doors. They were rough. Also they stained over a sticker and didn't stain all edges. 6. The paint job in both bathrooms was not good. They only gave it one coat and didn't give parts any paint. 7. The biggest thing was not paying attention to detail. The main reason we did the remodel was to make it accessible for a wheelchair. Doors and the master bath had to be made larger. There was a door into the bedroom that was too small to be used with a wheelchair. It involved making the door wider and hence they had to change a closet. They tried to get by without going into the closet. My husband's wheelchair would not go through. All the remodel would have been in vain. They made the door bigger and redid the closet when we insisted that it be done. Again floor plans would have been helpful. 8. I was constantly making lists of little things that had to be done. It seemed it took forever to get the little things taken care of. 9. When we thought all was done the shower seat had water leaking into it from the outside in. They made everything right in the end.
Description of Work: Get a new ramp and railings and steps. We also discussed remodeling the two bathrooms to be wheelchair acceptable. Between April and May we got things going on the bathrooms being remodeled.

Provided estimate of work. I could not afford +/- $900 to provide/install 2 porch railings, so I did not have that work done. I had to call them to schedule the install after they gave the work estimate. They did not follow up. Doug was the installer-very polite and professional.

I needed a safety bar installed in my shower. They provided the bar and the installation and left no mess behind. I appreciated the seniors discount. I would use them again. I was surprised how costly this bar was to install, but after checking other companies, found it to be in line.

Installer discussed with us the various options and started in the master bath as I requested. He worked quickly and cleaned up the area when he was done. He also asked for my approval before payment. I inquired about about an estimate for some additional work and I am waiting to hear back.
Description of Work: We needed to have safety grab bars installed near a bathtub and shower and two commodes. The installer was late, however, the owner, Kent McCord called to explain as well as the installer. Work was completed quickly and efficiently.

Home Safe Home installed a handrail on our front walk leading to the street. The job was more difficult than anticipated because we seem to have particularly hard concrete and the installer burned through several drill bits. But he persevered and the our entry way is now safer.

During the week of Aug 4 through the 8th, the sub contractors for Home Safe Homes conducted a complete removal of the current tub, and replaced it with the new walk in tub. The sub contractors were excellent, and at the end of each day cleaned up and removed all trash from the home. In those area where there was some wall damage in the replacement project, they repaired the drywall and repainted.
Description of Work: To obtain an estimate on the purchase and installation of Ella Bubbles walk in bath tub. Kent McCool reviewed the current bath tub, and provided an estimate on a complete tear out of the current tub, and installing the new walk in tub to include replacing the current tiles around the tub.

Kent the owner is very professional. You don't feel pressured to buy. He explained their services and showed me prices up front. Their installer Terry is great. We had to install 5 baby gates and some other locks. Our stairs are odd shaped so we decided to hire an outside company. I highly recommend.

Home Safe Homes came out and performed an evaluation and worked with my Wife's P.T. and Nurse to come up with a design for the a remodel of the bathroom. The work itself took about a week. The Contractor was friendly and kept us informed of the progress and the plans for the next day. The Contractor cleaned up every night before they went home. The work was excellent and met all my expectations. We now have a walk-in shower instead of a bathtub. This has made much easier and safer for my wife to take a shower.

It was a very good experience because I had been trying to contact other companies and no one would respond. I sent them an e-mail, and they responded the next day. They came out immediately that following day, did measurements, and told me how long it would be and what it would take. Everything worked out just as they said. They came, installed it, and got it all done in one day. So, it worked well.

It went better than expected. When I told Kent that I wanted the safety grab bars placed before an upcoming surgery, he prioritized the job for us. When he learned that I also have underlying rheumatoid arthritis and already experience some mobility issues within our home, he suggested other items his company could help us with as my need for assistance progresses. He did so in a helpful and professional manner, but was not all pushy about wanted to perform those services ahead of our needs. Yet, he gave us enough information and variety of solutions to aid in our decision making processes for the future. I will highly recommend this company to anyone seeking to make their home safer for aging in place.
Description of Work: We requested installation of safety grab bars in the Master Bathroom at the separate shower and tub areas. Initially, a voice message was left, but that call was returned promptly and an appointment was set up for the next day. For this install, it was possible to get the estimate and the work done in the same day. The provider was prompt, attentive, on task and very observant. He was prepared to measure and install and that is what we had done. Four 24 inch grab bars were professionally installed within the hour at a very reasonable price.

We are thrilled with the results! We have 6 grandchildren under the age of 5 and this fencing material has been outstanding! The way we reused and added to what we already had has allowed us to fence off our inground pool and still use our firepit and large patio area for eating/playing. Kent returned my intial call promptly, came out, measured and installed the new sections in a very timely manner. This is our second time to use him and we would definetly use him again!
Description of Work: We expanded our patio and needed to rework the safety fencing that Kent had previously put around our pool.

We emailed this company late nite and received a call and email the next day. Scheduled a time a few days later to assess the house and provide us with options for childproofing two sets of stairs and a door to basement stairs. Agreed on a plan and he ordered the supplies and came back the next week for install. All went well. He was pleasant and fast. One gate had an issue a couple weeks later, he came and looked at it and switched it with a new one no problem. I will use this company in the future for our next house.
Description of Work: Provided child gates at top and bottom of two sets of stairs. Installed childproof lock on door leading to basement. Also installed flexi glass to prevent babies from going between railings on older staircase.

They were very nice. They were very competent and knowledgeable about what they were doing. It was really neat how they had integrated the use of technology to show a prospective buyer what things could be done and what things might look like. We didn't go ahead and do anything. It was just a little bit out of our budget at the time. That is not to say that they were pricey. It is hard to say they were pricey because I thought they were offering a fair market value but we couldn't afford to do what we wanted them to do. We would absolutely consider using them in the future.

Overall, I couldn't be happier with the safety fence and the team at Home Safe Homes. They arrived as scheduled and even installed my fence in the rain. The team was professional - in appearance and demeanor. We are very pleased with our purchase and the team at Home Safe Homes.
Description of Work: I was searching for a pool safety fence. My places that we tried to contact didn't even respond. Home Safe Homes responded to my inquiry and provided an estimate. We negotiated and settled on a price that was agreeable to my family. Each time I asked an additional question, they were quick to respond. We settled on an installation date and my fence was installed the following week as scheduled!

It went very well. The installer came out, showed us the grab bars and the hardware that they used to install them. We also discussed and agreed on how the bars would be installed (a vertical one near the entrance to the shower, and a horizontal one inside the shower). Since you're drilling through the tile, you can't tell what you're going to hit - a stud or a void space - on the other side. They have different fasteners to use depending on what they hit on the other side of the tile. The installation went quickly; and the workman thoroughly cleaned up after himself and left a clean shower area behind. The bars are securely attached, and are solid as a rock when you grab them. I'm very pleased with the install - now we'll see if my parents approve of them.
Description of Work: I called them and inquired about installing two grab bars in our guest bathroom's shower. This was for the benefit of my elderly parents, who confessed during their last visit that they felt unbalanced on the slippery tiles in the shower. I called and left a message, and got a prompt response from (?? - don't remember the name any longer). Since this was a standard and straightforward installation, he was able to give me a price over the telephone - a price that included both the hardware and the labor to install the bars.. I thought the price was quite fair, and asked that the installation be scheduled. At the time the representative said that they were scheduling two weeks out, and he would get back with me shortly with the exact time. Shortly thereafter we got an email from them with a date that was the following Monday (this was over the weekend), so they were able to fit us into their schedule much sooner than anticipated.

My father called them and they came out promptly to provide him pricing. Once my father decided to use them a date was scheduled and they showed up on time and performed the work. It unexpectedly went into a second day due to the fact their lower staircase was poured concrete and they did not have the right supplies to drive into the cement. They came back the next day as promised and finished the work.

Overall it was an excellent experience! Kent from Home Safe Homes did an on-site inspection in late December and explained the variety of options available in terms of baby gates, cabinet locks, dresser and TV anchors, etc. He provided a complete and detailed estimate. I made my selections based on the estimate and then the installation was completed. I really appreciate that he did a return visit (with no additional charge) one week later to adjust a baby gate that we wanted to have open the other direction. This is a great service for busy parents that don't have time to select and install necessary safety items. I would highly recommend Home Safe Homes and would use them again in the future.
