It went well!

I really liked the housekeeper's personality, but the dishes weren't washed and the interior of microwave was not cleaned. I also noticed that she didn't move a laundry basket as well as a makeup case and there was dirt behind both of these items. I have a very small home and she didn't clean the bedrooms (per my request) so I didn't think it should have taken four hours to basically mop the floors. My home is approximately 900 square feet. I had already swept the floors prior to her arrival because I have 2 puppies that are not housebroken and I wanted to spare her on that count. I don't have much in the way of furniture. I would have preferred she use my hardwood cleaning product on the hardwood floor. Instead she used my Pinesol but the wood throughout the house looks "crackled" now. I'm not sure why, but It didn't look like that before. My house was a tough one because the male puppies have been spraying - so there's a smell (which to be fair is why she said she used the Pinesol). She tried in many ways so I definitely have to give her credit for that and as I said she was very, very nice. I just wish she'd have asked me about using something different on the floors. She took some personal calls that went on for a while. I think she's a bit too expensive for what she did and not doing the dishes (which was something we agreed on before she started) was a problem for me. I've had others clean in half the time, including doing the dishes, for 3/4 the cost. She initially wanted 150.00 but we agreed that 100.00 would suffice and that included her washing the dishes. So my house was probably too much of a challenge, but she'd probably do fine some place else and as I keep stating she is an extremely nice person.

She was amazing and diligent. She was polite and soft spoken. She returned my call in a timely matter. I told her what was needed as she went along. She also was willing to work with me rather than for me. She worked physically hard. I didn't have to leave and she wasn't afraid to redo something if I wanted it done differently. My kitchen literally looks bright and brand new. She scrubbed the floor which I had plans to replace. Today, I can put that idea on the back burner. She took down things and washed them and put them back on a clean surface. This is the type of cleaning person I have been looking for a long while. Stacey was respectful of my property. She's willing to work around my schedule with the understanding of all my many doctor appointments and my struggle with Lupus. We have a next cleaning scheduled. I am truly excited that I have found some one at last willing to work with me and my agenda while I am getting my home clean and put back together. I feel fortunate and it was my luck to find Stacey.

Horrible service. Cleaning was terrible. Stacy Sutton owns the business of Uncle Syl’s Cleaning Services and was hired by me to clean my house. I did see on Angie's list that some of the cleaning services also do other miscellaneous items. I asked Stacy if her company did any other services. She said yes and I told her items that I might be interested in having completed. I didn't want to have a lot of different people hired to complete all I needed done. Stacy told me "yes" her company could do item discussed. Checks for services were made out to Uncle Sly's cleaning. Please see though my review the results of the cleaning that was performed by Uncle Syl’s Cleaning Services. The relationship started out good. I thought I had found my “forever” housekeeper and a friend. She did some cleaning for about an hour while her husband removed some furniture from the house that I was getting rid of. Stacy’s company did remove items from the house and took to the dump as requested. I paid her company for cleaning and removing items from the house plus expenses. Unfortunately, that was the only good experience I had with her company. Since Stacy verified she had an employee who was good at painting. I asked if her employee would be able to paint a bathroom for me while she cleaned. Unfortunately, her employee could not paint. Stacy told me later that the employee was 90% blind in one eye and that’s why said employee had such a hard time seeing to paint. Stacy’s employee ruined over $50.00 of my painting supplies...my brushes, rollers, containers, etc. Neither Stacy’s nor her employee had brought their own painting supplies to paint the bathroom. I had told Stacy I had the paint I wanted to use for the bathroom. Unfortunately, the job ended with paint all over the ceiling and bathtub, and floor. Plus, drips of paint several places on the walls. I have now had to purchase new painting supplies and white ceiling paint. If getting paint all over the bathroom wasn’t bad enough, somehow the employee got paint all over my kitchen island that I cannot remove. To try to clean the roller and brushes, the employee rolled the roller and brushes on my garage floor. I can’t get that up either. The stir stick was thrown in my front yard. I never did find the roller handle, so it might have been thrown away. Most of Stacy’s cleaning time was trying to clean up paint in the bathroom. Even after her spending over an hour, still had drips, and paint everywhere. Check went to Uncle Sly’s Cleaning Service. I did think they would come back to fix everything. So the cleaning check to Stacy mostly included her cleaning up after her employee. With the cost of supplies I have to replace, buying ceiling paint, hiring someone to clean, and hiring some to fix the paint job, I’m at least going to be out of pocket $50.00 more that I paid Stacy’s employee to paint the bathroom. And, I had overpaid for the service to begin with. Counting the original cost charged by Stacy’s company, the end cost will be $300 to $350 for a very small bathroom once the bathroom is cleaned, repainted, kitchen cabinet stripped and garage floor cleaned. I should have discontinued there services, but I thought Stacy would fix the problems in the first bathroom. After verifying with Stacy’s that she had an employee who could demo a room. I hired her company to demo another bathroom that I had. First 3.5 hours went good, but most of Stacy’s cleaning was again cleaning up after her employee instead of my house. Second 3.5 hours of demo was the same thing. For the 3rd time employee came to my house, he got tired after a couple of hours and just throw everything in the bathtub. Stacy was aware that I had hired another company to re-glaze the bathtub the next day. Said employee of Stacy’s told me they “other company” could just use a shop vac to clean everything else. However, I had paid Stacy for demo and clean up. I spent most of that evening cleaning up after one of her employees. With my health it took several hours. My agreement with other company was that bathtub would be ready to be re-glazed. Again – check went to Uncle Sly’s Cleaning Service. The next time Stacy and one of her employee came to the house they arrived over 2 hours late. Stacy was going to clean while her employee did some yard work pulling weeds. Almost all of stacy’s 2 ½ hours of cleaning was working on the bathroom with all the paint in the bathtub, floor, etc. The only place I’m not seeing paint now is on the floor. I specifically asked Stacy’s employee to cut down my rose bushes. Those were the last thing my husband planted for me before he died. Stacy’s employee cut them down and said it was a problem to separate them from the weeds. Left all the weeds he cut down in the drive way....for 2.5 hours of house keeping and pulling weeks, Stacy charged me $350.00. and, I could hear her employee insisting to her that I pay that much. So I paid for cleaning of items that shouldn’t have needed to be cleaned and yard work for more money than some surgeons make an hour. Unfortunately, now I’m going to have to file a claim against her company in small claims court that will take me more time. Also, as a cleaning service, I would think she would know how to clean up paint and spills, but unfortunately that never happened.

I contacted the service provider for cleaning services through the Angie's List message center. They got back with me right away! They do not service my area but I appreciated the quick reply.

She is very thorough. She usually stays for about 4 or 5 hours. She leaves everything bright and spotless, and everything shines after she leaves. It really is a mood lifting experience. She sometimes works alone, but often has help from her husband or sister-in-law. She's very punctual and focused. I've had other house cleaners in the past that I've had to "prod" to get some things clean, but I've never had to do that with her. She really goes above and beyond. She's very responsible, and she's a pleasant gal to work with.
