In fall 2011 I drove by our house and noticed a bunch a branches laying in our yard. I didn't think anything about it since I knew TCL would be by some time to pick them up. Needless to say after a month had gone by, the yard looked exactly the same. No one had been there to work on my yard. I called TCL. No one answered. I left a message. I was concerned because I had been paying them monthly to maintain my yard and now I'm not sure when they quit. Eventually, the yard got picked up but then when it came to leaf removal I had the same problem. I called because my leaves were piling up. I never got ahold of anybody. I kept leaving message. I tried emailing too. I never received a response until January 2012 when a man called and apologized for everything. He said that TCL had several unhappy customers and that he was put in the position to resolve everyone's issues and that he would take care of everything. In February I found a crew trying to finish raking my leaves from last year. They said that they would not be able to finish because they have a flat tire. Now, it's the middle of March and the leaves are still there, the crew never returned, and I still can't get ahold of TCL.
Description of Work: I hired TCL back in spring of 2010 to go out to my house twice a month to do a little yard maintenance. (My house sits empty and I am trying to sell it.) I also had an agreement with them to mulch it in the spring, pickup the leaves in the fall, and shovel the snow when it reaches 2" or more. Up until fall of 2011 I never had a problem with them but then I noticed that the same branches and twigs were laying in my yard after several weeks had gone by.

I hired this company to take care of several issues in my lawn -- remove plants, reseed in that area, do regular lawn mowing, weed flower beds, and generally take care of my lawn during my 6-month work assignment in France (Jan 11 - Jul 11). Because of the lateness of the year (November), I paid for the reseeding, but they didn't do it, opting to wait for the spring when there would be rain. Despite several attempts to contact them by email and phone from France, they did not respond. The reseeding was not done, and my grass was never mowed. I had to hire another company to cut my grass. I finally received an email from them at the beginning of May saying they wanted to "make things right." I told them they needed to refund my money for the grass seeding. That has not happened as of today (Jul 22).
Description of Work: I hired this company to take care of several issues in my lawn -- remove plants, reseed in that area, do regular lawn mowing, and take care of my lawn during my 6-month work assignment in France (Jan 11 - Jul 11). They did the plant removal, but not the reseeding.

Called the company, they picked up my lawn equipment from my home, did repair work and returned equipment to my home. Sent me bill for work it was exactly what was quoted. The people were very knowledgable and professional.

I first contacted the company around Mid-May to get some services performed at my home. I chose to go with the company because they were very quick to respond to my phone call and assured me that they'd be able to get things done by Memorial Day weekend - weather permitting. My family was in town that weekend, and we were having a cook out at my house. I wanted to make sure my house looked nice for company. Mike came by and did the estimate without me being home, but we went through it over the phone and everything seemed fine. Though it did rain a few days that week, Memorial Day came and went with no call. My house looked horrible for my get-together. I was embarrassed, but I let it go figuring the schedule could have been a few days behind. When another week passed, and I contacted the company, Mike told me he thought the crew had already been out to my house and finished the work, and that is why I didn't have my yard finished by the time I had requested.That should have been my first indication; however, I gave the company the benefit of the doubt. Even though I was already a week and some days behind where I wanted to be, I was told I'd have to wait a few more days until Friday. I scheduled the time for 1:30. I took off work to be at home that day so I could walk the crew through what needed to be done. When 2pm rolled around, and no one was at my house, I called again to see where they were. I was told they were finishing up at their first job of the day, and they'd be at my house soon.3:30pm came, and I called again. At that point I was told there'd been an accident at the first job, and it set them back a half day. Because of that, they wouldn't make it out to my house. If that was the case, I'm not sure why that wasn't communicated when I called the first time and was assured they'd be at my house soon. I made sure that they could be at my house first thing on Saturday because I had an appointment at 2pm. I was told it wouldn't be a problem. The next morning I woke up early to be sure that I was available when they were scheduled to arrive between 8-8:30. At 9:15, they still weren't at my house. I called Mike and got voicemail. I tried the scheduling line, and it was answered by someone in California who said they couldn't help me. When the crew finally got there after 9:30, I walked one of the guys through what needed to be done. He came back to me a few times with things that weren't on the estimate, that I had communicated with Mike I wanted done. They didn't bring dirt to fill in the holes left by the grasses, even though it was on the estimate, and the man told me that he couldn't go back and get the dirt that day. It'd have to be Monday. In the meantime, I couldn't leave large holes in my backyard. There's a walking path right behind my house. If someone fell in the hole, I could get sued. The only solution he could come up with was to put the grasses back in the holes until Monday when they could make it back out. By this time, it's noon. I know they had time to go and get the dirt. It seems they just wanted to get off work a little early on a Saturday. They were only pulling the large weeds, and leaving the smaller ones. By the time I noticed this, they had already mulched over half of the flower beds. They told me they didn't need to pull all the weeds. The mulch would kill the smaller ones. If they didn't, they'd be back to pull them.They ran out of mulch and had to go get more. I asked how long it would take because I had to leave at 2 and it was getting close to that time. I was told a half an hour. An hour and a half later, I left for my appointment and they still weren't there. I left a note on my door of some things I'd noticed that I'd like fixed before they left and my cell phone number. When I got home, I saw that a lot of the larger weeds hadn't been pulled. They also hadn't mulched the corner of one flower bed. There's a row of hostas in that area, and the leaves do block out the bed below, but plants do die - and regardless - all of the beds should have been covered. There were even smaller weeds poking through the mulch because it was placed on thinly before they decided they'd need to get more mulch. They'd also left clumps of dirt in the yard. I called and complained. I was told someone would come back to look at the yard. By this point, I was so frustrated with the entire process, but we had the crews back out a few times to supposedly fix what needed to be fixed. The beds still look horrible. There are still weeds. The Iris's that I had asked be dug up were only pulled and they are starting to grow back. There are weeds all over the beds from them not being pulled properly, and the beds still aren't properly mulched. The last thing we heard is that an estimator would be back out to look at the house, and that more mulch could be placed on the beds, but we'd have to pay for it. We found out later that had apparently never been communicated to the estimator because he hadn't heard he was supposed to be back to the house. I also received a bill for higher than my estimate. It is apparent that the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing in this company. The only decent thing they did turned out to be waiving the charge for the services performed. I would not recommend this company if you want things done properly and in a timely manner.

At TCL we take pride in providing our customers with the highest level of service and satisfaction. With that being said, we would like to take the time to acknowledge and respond to the feedback provided by the member. Unfortunately, this situation began with an error on our part. We were contacted by the member in mid-May and had scheduled a time to complete her yard work prior to Memorial Day weekend. Regrettably, this did not happen due to a change in the management roles within the scheduling department of our company. Once we were made aware of the error, we immediately contacted the customer, apologized for inadvertently missing the appointment, and re-scheduled a time to provide the services requested. The services included in the estimate were: mulching and weeding flower beds, removing dead bushes, removing flowering plants in the front yard, removing five bushes in the back yard and filling the holes with dirt. The appointment was scheduled at 1:30pm that Friday. Unfortunately, as our lawn crew was finishing up at their previous job, one of our crew members was seriously injured and had to seek medical attention. Due to this unforeseen incident, we were unable to keep our appointment at the member's residence. Again, we apologized and rescheduled for the next morning. Our crew went out on Saturday morning and completed the work that was requested. We were then made aware by the member that the job was not done to her satisfaction. Because of all the difficulties with this job, two members of the management team went out to discuss the issues with the customers. The managers also stayed and completed the items themselves. While out, management pushed back all the mulch and weeded the beds to the customers' satisfaction. They also edged all of the beds although this service was not a part of the original estimate and was at no cost to the customer. After the work was done, the member appeared satisfied with the work. He thanked us for coming back out to finish the job. He stated that he had dealt with contractors in the past who hadn't finished the work they had agreed to do so they were pleased that TCL had. At the time, we also advised the customer to add one additional square yard of mulch to their planting beds. If they wanted this service done by TCL, they were asked to call and let us know. A few days later, we received a call from the member stating that we were supposed to have someone back out on their property to finish the job. As stated before, when management left the job, the customer appeared satisfied so we were not sure exactly what needed to be finished. Our salesman Mike called the member back immediately. When the member answered the phone Mike identified himself and his purpose for calling. The member replied that he had no clue what Mike was talking about. We made another immediate attempt to reach the member from the phone line that the member himself had just called and there was no answer. A message was left but the member had not returned the call. At this point, we felt that there was no way to satisfy this customer. We definitely acknowledge and sincerely apologize for the mistakes that were made. We take full responsibility for them. However, we provided $500 worth of work at no charge to the customers in an attempt to make the situation right. This is the first negative feedback we have received on Angie's List and we would like to reassure our customers and Angie's List that this is not the type of service they will receive from TCL Service Group.

I explained my needs to Mike and we worked out an agreement for fall and winter of last year. I am so happy with the company that we worked out a new agreement spring and summer of this year. Additionally, I needed a little landscaping done in the back of my yard. Not only did I find the price very reasonable, they did an excellent job that shouts quality. I highly recommend Mike. The man is very knowledgeable and very creative. I suggest giving him all your data and explaining all your issues. He will not disappoint you with his answer(s). He is Mr. Professional.
Description of Work: I hired TCL to maintain my yard bi-monthly until my house is sold.
