Solid Surfaces LLC

As much as I despised my spouse and I being called liars by the company owner, I'm going to try to just present the facts of the situation. We did not hire this company directly, they were hired by the designer who was doing our kitchen remodel. The job itself did not go well. FACTS: 1. Owner increased price after we agreed upon one, even though nothing changed between the original estimate and the delivery. 2. They were 2 ½ hours late from the time we were given the day of the installation. 3. They did not cover the drawer rails under our cooktop and ruined all three sets, which were replaced, but not at their expense. 4. Green bloom appeared in our granite less than a week after installation. We had no idea what it was, but researched it on the internet. Owner agreed to treat the area until resolved. 5. Treatment did lighten after first application, but did not fully remove. During 2nd application, employee noticed a chip in one piece and treated that piece before the application and got glue on the new cabinet door, which ate off the paint. This had to be repaired by somebody else. 6. Owner agreed to order a different treatment that was recommended to us by other granite installers with more experience. When it arrived, owner called us to advise they were replacing the piece that had the most green in it and was chipped. He said he would put one more application on and was doing nothing else without being paid more. He also said he has no idea what we did to the granite after it was installed, insinuating we caused the green bloom. 7. Employee put on final application and said he needed to come back to remove and seal the rough spots where the green was. Two days later, I sent him a text as he instructed me to and owner called an hour later berating me for contacting his employee. When I told him we were advised to, he said I was lying. I only could have contacted him if I had been given his number in the first place. He called my spouse a liar as well. 8. On at least four different occasions, the owner advised us he underbid the job and had lost too much money. The final time he stated this, he advised us he would be doing nothing further without being paid more. We were ‘unreasonable’ customers. In the end, we still need to have two areas fixed, but the biggest problem area has been replaced. As opposed to being called names and treated with further hostility, we decided to find another company to resolve the last few issues, even though his employee stated he would come and take care of it. We would not recommend this company due to poor workmanship, lack of ownership, and poor customer treatment. It went Excellent.. their measure person, JD, is very important, and did a terrific job. There installation crew was first class and did a superior job, overcoming some major problems. Their communication throughout both projects was excellent, and their cleanup skills were also very good. The quality of the Granite and Quartz and the price were very good. I am an engineer and followed the installations very closely. We did get competitive quotes and Solid Surfaces LLC was the low bidder.

It turned out to be excellent. The price was definitely one of the deciding factors. We liked their willingness to work with us. They did a very good job. They answered all the questions we asked. They walked up within 2 minutes of when they said they would be here.

They did an excellent job. From beginning to end, they were very helpful. They were patient with us, even when we found that our contractor had made a mistake with the layout of the cabinets. They came the day before installation and remeasured to make sure everything was accurate. Our kitchen looks lovely! We used them in the past when we remodeled our bathroom and we will call them again if we have any other projects. Very reasonable prices as well!

It took forever to get the installation scheduled. When they installed the countertops the countertops were manufactured wrong which should have been caught at the manufacturer. We then had to have them take the countertops out, remanufacturer, brought back and reinstalled. The whole process took at least 2 months. When it was finally done correctly the countertops look beautiful. The installers were very nice.

On April 2, 2013 we purchased $4000.00 of quartz countertops from Lowes. Solid Surfaces LLC got the job to install. The template measurement was April 11, 2013. install was scheduled on May 14, 2013 between 1:00 & 5:00. The crew showed up over an hour PAST 5:00 & I had taken half a day off work to be home. At this time I was informed the sink would not be installed because the wrong sink was ordered. During the install one of the guys cut a piece of backsplash entirely too short. A second install was scheduled for May 16, 2013 between 1:00 & 5:00. Again, they were over an hour PAST 5:00. One of the guys had to sand the backsplash piece several times outside getting a gritty dust all over my rose bushes & sidewalk that he did not clean up. But the kicker was when they went to install the sink & again it was the wrong sink! At this point I got Lowes involved who got the manufacturer of the quartz involved. Over the next week it is a finger pointing match between Lowes, the manufaturer & Solid Surfaces over who was in the wrong. I found out that Solid Surfaces tried to back out of the job & the maufacturer told them to finish the job or they would not get paid. Solid Surfaces cam out and installed the wrong sink on May 17, 2013 so I could use my kitchen which was good thing since they did not come back out until June 21, 2013. During this install they made a big dusty gritty mess on my hardwood floors because one of the edges of the quartz was not finished at the shop. We also found a blemish in a piece of countertop that was not there earlier that day. They deny causing it but beware, they place their heavy metal tools wherever they please when working. We scheduled a final install on July 5, 2013 to have the edge fixed & the guy they sent out gets lost. I tried to get him back on track but he hardly speaks English & does not understand county road addresses. Finally he gets to my house & fixes the edge to my satisfaction. I STRONGLY advise NOT using this company. The ladies in the office are rude & will hang up the phone on you (they did it to the lady from Lowes). Their quality of work is lacking to say the least and they are NOT punctual or careful with your property. I have NO doubt it would be almost impossible to get them to stand behind their work. Do not use them...you could be sorry if you do!

This was the biggest joke of a company i have ever dealt with. If it wouldn't have meant that i would be without contertops for another 4-6 weeks i would have sent them packing. My only advice is get on their schedule early and when they come to measure, INSIST they use the computerized electronic measuring system NOT measuring by hand. The idiot owner was the one who actually measured ours by hand and when he tried to install realized it was all out of square. After hours of cutting and trying to make work he finally gave up. He then brought out the "expensive" computerized measurement device and re-measured. When they brought the next piece back out to install it fit right in. Then only problem is they chipped a corner of a seam, they then tried to hide it by patching it. This was all done through lowes. My advice, Stay away!

I purchased a Cambria Aberdeen quartz vanity countertop with a white porcelain sink to be installed on a new bathroom vanity. Two men arrived as scheduled with the countertop and proceeded to take measurements and drill 3 holes for the faucet hardware where I wanted them to be. They were very thorough and precise in the installation of the countertop and the two backsplashes. I was very happy with the result!

Alyssa was great with her communication skills & even squeezed in an early appt. for me whan another coustomer moved their appt. Very Professional & the technician was knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. Definately would recommend.

Very well. Alyssa and Lindsay were great to work with for the quoting and scheduling the installation. The installation guys did a great job with the installation. I would recommend them to others if you're considering solid surface countertops.

Fabulous. I had initially gotten a quote from another company but they were no-shows and I was in a bind -- we could not proceed w/ other work in the bathroom until a countertop was installed. I called Joe Papp, based on his prior reviews, and he was able to come out the same day for the measurement. I asked him if he had any "scraps" that he could use, to keep our price reasonable and the timeline short (this was for a house we were trying to get on the market), and he brought samples of three available colors that he thought would match my color palate. He said they could have the countertop created and installed within 3-4 days, and they met their deadline by having it installed before 72 hours had elapsed. It loooks gorgeous and I am SO grateful for their prompt and professional service. I will definitely use them again.

Everything went excellently. I was very pleased with the quality of the craftsmanship and professionalism that Joe displayed while completing the project. His work went above and beyond my expectations for a great price. I will definitely use him for all future projects, and I would recommend him to anyone interested in solid surface countertops.

I purchased the countertops from the local big box hardware store, and they were subcontracted by the hardware store to do the work. I was really concerned about using subs, but the sales person at the hardware store assured me that they were very good. Two guys came first to measure, were prompt and polite, took measurements and left. The office called me within a week to schedule installation (I was expecting it to take 2-3 weeks). The installers arrived on time, and did their work quickly. One counter top did not fit well, and they had to take it back to remake it. They did so, and returned a couple of days later to re-install it, with a much better fit. Overall the job went well, they only complaint I had was that the second install crew tracked caulk on my kitchen floor. They were apologetic, and cleaned it up - just glad it wasn't on the carpet. I have already referred them to friends, I thought they were really good, and the new counter tops look great.

We dealt primarily with Joe Papp. He was the one that brought out the samples and gave us our options and pricing information. The installers then came out. He was punctual always, answered our calls and stayed within the given time frame. The man who came out to measure was very meticulous. We are very happy with the work and their professional manner. They had a plumber come out to hook up the sink, faucet and garbage disposal.

They did a great job.
