They did an excellent job. Relatively they were inexpensive. They knew what they were doing and they did it. It was very impressive that they did the job quickly.

It was okay except the electric work at the top needed to moved three inches and he said he couldn't do that so I had to call an electrician. He charged me a $120 to move a stretched out wire three inches. That was the only part I didn't like. Everything else went fine. Its working fine.
Description of Work: They installed an overheard door opener the push button kind.

Long story short, these guys wouldn't be my first choice. I will call someone else. I had to use them though because the home warranty company for my new house picked them. I specified the make/model when I submitted the claim with a description of the problem. The service tech did not seem to be well educated on this model and did not have the bracket I needed. He said he would replace the arm and bracket together, but then 30 mins later he told me it was fixed. He repositioned the old bracket and bent it back into shape. It's a and quot;good enoughand quot; repair, but not high quality workmanship. Also, after looking at it closer, I noticed there is still a missing piece (small spring that goes inside the bracket to cushion the push arm) that he did not replace. It's good enough and will probably last for the rest of the useful life of this door, but again, not high quality workmanship and I won't be calling these guys once the home warranty is over.

Our garage door completely broke down. Called and scheduled an estimate. Salesman came out, and it was just the Mrs. at home. He pulls out one sample, shows it to her, and then starts writing in the prices without ever showing her a different option, sample or waiting for her to approve the choice. Just writes in the 1400 dollar door. 10 minutes in, husband comes home. And all of a sudden there are much cheaper options....options that are half the price of the original. The salesman scribbled out his original finance figures and says to the man of the house, That's nothing, don't pay any attention to that.and quot; In the end we go with the 700 dollar model, that the salesman says, is the only one he would go with......contrary to his earlier figures. He says we can get it all installed on Monday (4 days from now). Calls back after we have signed the paperwork, and says, oh sorry, the door won't be in for at least two weeks. Additionally, he didn't leave any paperwork, so I don't even know if I have legal ability to get an estimate from someone else. I called to try and talk with a manager, and the lady who answered the phone took notes and said someone would contact us. Still waiting..... I would not recommend working with Sears at all. My father worked their for 20 years, my brother for many years, I have bought appliances etc from them...but I would never ever deal with Sears overhead door again if I did not have to.

In general things went well. The installation went without hitch and the replacing the rollers really helped to make the door function much more smoothly. The door opener works GREAT! Very quiet and smooth compared with the original Sears we had installed when we had the house built 15 years ago. Follow up has been confusing. We started getting an error that something was miswired, and we had trouble with the door not opening and closing on sunny/ windy days. This was about a month later. We were going to be out of town, so had someone call for service for us. The tech couldn't find anything wrong and tried to charge for the service call. The person who was here at the house let him we had a maintenance agreement. He said that was a different department, but he agreed to call us once we were back in town for a credit card. He called and said this was and quot;Sears Garage Doorsand quot; calling - he explained he was calling for a credit card and I explained we had purchased the maintenance agreement. He said he had asked about that and that that was a different department and that we should have called a different number. Also said they didn't find anything wrong, just that it needed adjustment and I explained that the maintenance agreement stated it covered and quot;nothing wrongand quot; and adjustments. There was no comment about the and quot;miswiredand quot; message we were getting. He was nice about it and in the end didn't charge me. But if you're going to present yourself as and quot;Sears Garage Doorsand quot; then you're part of Sears from the customer's point of view and if a customer happens to call the wrong phone number, I don't think they should be told they are responsible for charges. The unit was still under original warranty in addition to the maintenance agreement. Apparently this is a subcontractor, but if he thought there was an issue about a service call, he had access to the original paperwork and should be responsible for dealing with Sears, not the customer.
Description of Work: We bought a new garage door opener from Sears, including one year maintenance agreement. The service tech also suggested doing some repairs to the door, which we had done.

My garage door wouldn't open correctly the night before Thanksgiving. It would go up on one side but not the other - and would then go back to the closed position. When we tried to operate it manually (just to get the car out of the garage), it was very, very heavy to lift. I called the Sears Garage Door number Monday morning and spoke with Rick. After explaining the problem, he said 'Sounds like it could be a broken spring. Those typically cost about $200 (all parts and labor included). Would you like us to come out and take a look? What time would work best for you?' WOW! An estimate up front? And willing to work with my timetable? Two days later, Shane was the representative who showed up at my door (on time) to take a look. He pointed out exactly what was wrong, again gave me and estimate of the cost, and got to work. He was done within 45 minutes and showed me what he had done to the spring and door so I could see the difference. I never felt pressured to buy anything extra, was confident in Sears Garage Door's ability to address and resolve the problem - and would highly recommend them!
Description of Work: Garage door wouldn't open correctly. Appeared to be going up only on one side - would then stop and return to closed position. When released lever to operate manually, door was very heavy and difficult to use. Noticed cables hanging from either side of door (no longer attached).
