I think I got better pricing from another place.
The first day went well as far as the carpet installation goes. But this was the first time the communication problems cropped up. We were told by the salesperson that they would attempt to fix the squeaks in our stairs. They did say attempt and did not make any guarantees. However, the contractor indicated that there wasn't much he could do but put in a few nails and that probably wouldn't fix it. Then we found out that a couple of the stairs were broken. Since the stairs were to be carpeted on the second day, this meant my husband had to rush home and put in some new stair treads during a very long evening to be ready for the next day. He would have done this much sooner if he'd known that it wasn't part of the deal.
The next day, the installation went well again until we found out they ran out of carpet and couldn't do our stairs. They went ahead and put in the carpet tacks and padding on the stairs and called the store. The store said it could be a week to get more carpet in but it would be the same dye lot. No explanations on why they ran out of carpet. In the meantime, we found out that our built in desk in one of the bedrooms was leaning to one side. They had carpeted under one side but not the other.
I called and left a message about the issue with the desk but didn't hear back. About three days later I received a call that the carpet was in and they could install it the next work day Monday. This was great and faster than we thought. I told the person that called that 1 - I was upset they ran out of carpet in the first place, 2 - the problem with the desk, 3 - the carpet pad on the stairs would need replaced because it was getting damaged from traffic up and down the stairs. He said that was fine.
When the installers came back, they started to install the carpet. I told them that the person at the store said they would replace the pad on the stairs. They did then replace the pad. I told them about the desk. This was the first they'd heard about that. My husband had fixed the height issue with the desk but a small hole needed patched so they did that.
Overall, we like the carpet and the installers did a nice job. I just felt like the whole experience was very stressful and many of the issues I had would have been less stressful if the store had communicated better with me and the installers. After the job was completed, I expected to get a call asking how everything went. The only call I received was for payment. I explained my frustrations at that time. I also filled out a comment card briefly explaining the above. I've never heard back from the owners or salesperson, but based on other reviews on here I expect I will see a reply now........

Initial contact with salesperson went well. However we were told that the installers were employees of Mainstyle Flooring when in fact they were not, they are subcontractors. We were also told the install project would take 5 days, when in fact it took 12 days. On the first day the installers damaged our ceramic entry way tile and we lost about 1/3 of the entry way tile due to their error. Installers parked trucks in driveway and one of their trucks leaked and left a large oil stain in our driveway. After pointing this oil spot out to them they did clean it up. When the 4 installers arrived they indicated that they did not know what they were supposed to do, I then explained where the floor was to be installed. The installers did not communicate well with us. they did not tell us when they were leaving at the end of the day. After the first day, I contacted the salesperson and the owner explaining what took place. I was told by both of them that they would follow up with the installers. I was also told by them that they would be in contact with me to make sure everything was going well. I never heard back from anyone until I went to the office in person on April 9th, which was day 9th day of a project that was supposed to take 5 days. I asked when they thought they would be finished. No one seemed to know and they said they would get back with me. At that point things started moving much faster. However, after a supervisor came to the house and found several things that were not done properly. These mistakes were corrected. However, the next day when the finish installer came out more mistakes were found, such as a large gouge in the dining room floor as well as large amount of glue that was not cleaned up at the time of installation. This put them even further behind. Eventually these mistakes were corrected. We gave the owners every opportunity to come out to our house to see what was taking place, and they chose not to. The end result, the owner finally came out and we showed her the worst of the glue that was never removed. She was able to remove most spots. She offered to come out again, but we explained we would remove the rest of the glue spots ourselves. In closing the floors look nice, but the entire experience working with Mainstyle Flooring was very stressful.
"Dear Member Mainstyle Flooring reached out to you regarding your flooring issue per a request from our representative for Armstrong, the manufacturer of your flooring. At the time of our initial contact with you we explained that Mainstyle Flooring purchased the assets of Indiana Carpet Service in 2006. We did not assume any liability of Indiana Carpet Service. Since your vinyl was installed in 2003 this would fall under the liabilities of Indiana Carpet Service and would not be a responsibility of Mainstyle Flooring to assume. As a courtesy to you we contacted the manufacturer on January 28, 2015 and filed a claim on your behalf, including the photos you had provided. The manufacturer responded that this claim was not covered under the manufacturer’s warranty as discoloration of the flooring was not considered a manufacturing issue. They also stated that the flooring was exhibiting general wear that is consistent with the age of the flooring. Mainstyle Flooring reported these findings in a letter to you dated February 3, 2015. We then considered the matter closed. Mainstyle Flooring feels that we have gone above and beyond the scope of our duties to assist you with your flooring issues from another company. We have provided information to both you and the manufacturer of your flooring when requested. We have answered your phone calls and have done our best to assist you with issues from flooring installed over 12 years ago. We are certainly understanding of your situation, but we cannot be responsible for this claim. Mainstyle Flooring hopes that you find resolution to your claim.
