Description of Work: I hired Leaders to help me move to a new house only about a mile from my previous place. They arrived on time, were courteous, and were extremely fast - I didn't have a huge amount of stuff, but I would say they had everything packed up and unpacked at my new house in about an hour, with nothing damaged. I'll definitely keep them in mind if I move in the future!

Description of Work: This was a disaster. Angie's list reviews failed us. The A-rating this company had didn't prepare us for the damage to our home and our items. It is early December and we are still trying to get our items repaired and reimbursed for damages to our home. They are unresponsive. Here is most of the letter sent to them after meticulously inspecting all our damaged items: | |"On July 24, 2015 we hired Leaders Moving and Storage Company to help us move the large items from our household into our own storage barn. We received quotes from several moving companies and were pleased with the reviews on Angie's List and the quote provided verbally, over the phone, from Leaders. While we hope our experience is not representative of typical Leaders quality it was simply unacceptable. | |Attached is a list of the 30 damaged items that we discovered on our own after a day of inspection. In addition, we've already submitted a claim to repair our home we were selling. It was scratched on walls, doorways, doors, and door hardware was even broken. With all the damage to our home we were certain additional damage would be present on our furniture, but we were still shocked at what we found. | |Most of the damage occurred from the following careless acts: |• Did not protect items - when moving them, from moving equipment, from each other, from the house, etc. |• Didn't use "buddy system" very much - each tried to move big items on their own which led to, |• Scooting of items rather than lifting and carrying them. Many items were scooted on concrete floors and were scooted on their table tops, finished surfaces, etc. |• If an item didn't fit through a doorframe they just kept pushing - causing damage to house & item. It was embarrassing how naïve they were at moving items through a doorway. It showed they had not received proper training. |• Poor awareness of items and the house. Even when asking them to be careful with items they still damaged them. They didn't protect any portion of the house. | |Unfortunately, many of the damaged items are family heirlooms. Some of these were refinished within the past 18 months and are now damaged. Others will require finishing expertise to ensure they get fixed properly as they are irreplaceable. Many other items were fairly new and have avoidable damage to them. | |To further reiterate the carelessness, two pieces were dropped when unloading, right in front of us. These pieces, along with any other obvious damage were hidden in our storage area. When finished, the lead mover only mentioned, "I'm sure some things are damaged so please text me a list tomorrow." It was just unacceptable. | |Finally, we should also add that the movers were ridiculously slow. So slow, in fact, that an operations manager came to check on them. Our move, for a single truck, with no packing, too little (if any) protection, and overall carelessness took over 10 hours! | |While we can't recuperate our time, we do expect that our damaged heirlooms are repaired, using our preferred furniture repair service, and that our replaceable damaged items are either repaired, if possible, or replaced. | |We have photos available upon request." | |As we stated, we are still dealing with this 5 months later!

Description of Work: They came to my house twice to move furniture into garage and then back into the house while I had my floors sanded and extended the wood floor. Very good workers. I recommend this provider.

Description of Work: Very organized and nice to work with, but turns out I have some friends who can help with the heavy stuff.

Description of Work: I purchased this deal to move from a house to an apartment. I called prior to buying the deal to make sure it was what I needed and that they could help over the 4th of July weekend. I was impressed that they were able to accommodate my move on such a busy weekend and without much notice. They were very friendly and informative over the phone. I purchased the deal and called again to schedule the service. I liked that they charge by item because I don't have very much to move. They quoted an extra $13 in addition to the $99 I paid for the deal and I thought that was a really reasonable price for the movers and the truck being included. I ended up being able to get into my apartment sooner and was able to move everything over myself over the course of a few days. I ended up calling to cancel the deal before the move date and requesting a refund from Angie's List. The company was very friendly over the phone even when I was cancelling the service. I will definitely use them on my next move!

Description of Work: I bought the Angie's list coupon $99 for $200 worth of moving services. I kept the moving under the $99, but just barely. For a loveseat, chair, queen mattress, stand up dresser, a side by side dresser and tv stand, they would have charged me $200. I feel this is a little steep to move only the above listed items 10 miles. Also the movers removed the large drawers to my antique dressers and stacked them on a dolly 6 deep, all the way to the top of the dolly, of course, all of the drawers fell off immediately. Thankfully there was no damage done, but both movers thought that this was a fine way to move large, antique drawers. The service was not horrible, but I will not use them again. They are too expensive to take such little care with so few items that I requested moved.

Description of Work: The mover's called when they were on their way. They were punctual and professional. They warned us of the larger pieces and how they would have to maneuver them in the space. They got our permission before doing anything that might scratch a wall. They went the extra mile to try to get everything in its place even if it meant extra work for them.

Description of Work: So I got a Big Deal from the site ($99 for cost of $200) and the provider was very prompt and courteous to set up a service. Also I had wrongly anticipated about 6 - 8 boxes where in fact there were twice as many. The service provider didn't charge anything more for that. | |However, I have to give them C due to several reasons. |A. Arrival time - they were a little behind schedule (30 minutes or so) |B. Insurance limit - the insurance limit was only about $1000 and when I requested for about $4000 I was charged $101 extra which I agreed to. I would however like the Big Deal to expressly state the insurance amount they carry since $1000 is too low for most people for a move. |C. There are some basics that you simply expect from a mover. That they will carry a screw driver! Well these folks were not! That's a grade D (does not meet expectation) right there. So they used my screwdriver which is really small and meant for computer repairs to disassemble the desk. Alright, that's fine. However when they reached my house, we couldn't find my screwdriver, so they left the table partially assembled (the corner desk needs screwdrivers etc). |D. The move took a very long time, several hours. Given what I had - a big office desk, a mattress and about 15 boxes and bags (really not much to disassemble and reassemble) I think it took a lot more time than I expected. For comparison, I helped a friend move in MO about a month back and they had full furniture - sofa, dining table, bed etc, that was both faster and without hiccups. The provider in that instance was Two Man and a Truck. | |This is what I felt in conclusion - I paid $199 for a move, which I think was rather high for what I had and given the distance was approx 15 miles away. Also keep in mind the real cost of service was $300 if one considers the big deal. In essence I think the Big Deal wasn't really a deal at all! If this happens I will directly work with SP in future instead of using Angie's List since I am sure I could have got the same thing done at a lesser price.

Description of Work: A 3 man crew moved us from one home to another. The movers were timely and friendly. I think a 4 person crew would have suited our move better. The crew started around 9am and didn't finish until after 8:30pm. One member of the crew seemed to have a lot of experience while the others appeared to be summer help (college kids). While they were great muscle, they didn't appear to have much focus or ability to work independently from the crew leader. The crew was very careful with all of our belongings and the hardwood floors in our new home. I would use this group again but ask for a more experienced crew.
