Dr. Patel and her team found abnormalities on an MRI that was taken almost two years prior, which was missed by the original office that read it. After recognizing the current medication he was on was not effectively managing the seizures she switched it and we've seen vast improvements in both a reduction of seizures and in his development. She's polite, friendly, and takes the time to answer our questions and explain what's needed; we're definitely glad we switched.
Description of Work: Dr. Patel started seeing my son for his epilepsy when he was about 2 1/2. In addition to normal follow up visits she set up additional testing including a 24 hour video EEG, appt. with a Developmental Pediatrician , etc.

They are pretty thorough with you. They always give you updates. If something comes up and if they can’t get you in for an appointment, they will call and leave a message to reschedule. They do communicate well which is one of the key factors that I like. They are always very busy. They are very professional. Effectiveness of treatment is fairly good and not very good.

It's a typical hospital. Some of the nurses and aides were very good, some were mediocre and some were bad. All rooms are private and housekeeping was adequate. Patients have a menu to use for meal selection. The food is mediocre and bland. After 30 days the same items became very boring for him. He was discharged to a rehab facility and the nursing staff neglected to remove a picc line from his arm. IMO this was a very big oversight. A picc line is a long catheter inserted into a main vein leading directly into the heart. It's used for blood draws and to administer meds. IMO this was a very big oversight.
Description of Work: My husband was at Clarion West (now IU West) for 30 days due to severe ulcerative colitis.

He is wonderful. He just moved his office this past June and he is now on East 91st Street. Our visits to him go very well and he is very good with our child, he is an adolescent now. He is very calming and informative and that is why we followed him, we like him.

There were 3 other families in the waiting room with sick children. Nothing appeared life threatening. After waiting for 1.5 hours my daughter made it to an examination room. 1 hour later, in the examination room, they had yet to see a doctor. My wife sent me a text message saying our daughter was crying hysterically because of the pain. I then asked the desk attendant (maybe a nurse, not sure) about the delay and she replied, "what do you mean?" I clarified. I was irritated, but not belligerent. I did not raise my voice, nor do anything to cause alarm. I asked why it took so long to look at a few sick kids. She responded with, "We're really busy and we only have one doctor," in a very patronizing, dismissive tone. I continued to question why it took so long to process kids with colds. To which she said, "I would like you to sit down." Perturbed and a bit shocked by her complete disregard for my concern, I turned to sit and told her that she was rude, to which she said, "you can leave." I then sat down and didn't say another word. I calmed down and attended to my son who I was watching in the waiting area. 5 minutes later a security guard shows up asking if I had concerns about the wait. All things considered the ER was very calm and quiet. The only activity I saw was literally 3 kids with colds. No one else had given the desk attendant a hard time and she was clearly not stressed by the activity in the waiting area. I asked a logical question as a concerned parent and her first response is to tell me to sit down, followed by a call to security. I can't believe that a question regarding the wait time warrants a call to security, does it? If the desk attendant is any indication of the people employed at IU health, it's a very sad statement indeed.
Description of Work: We took our daughter to the Clarian (Now IU Health North) ER for a potential ear infection.

I think he is a very good doctor. One of the good things about him is that he teaches parents along the way about how to look for symptoms for their children. That way you have a clearer sense of when to come in and when to wait and watch. He is proactive but when you bring in a child for their first cold he talks about what symptoms are cold and which could lead to pneumonia. He is not just treating the child, he is explaining to the parents as well. Educating as well as treating.

Dr. Wolf's office is a well-oiled machine. She's always on time for appointments, and if I'm not, it's usually best to reschedule, as she definitely sticks with hers! She takes as much time with me as I need, answers questions clearly and completely, and always encourages me. She's exactly what I would hope every pulmonary patient can find.
Description of Work: I started seeing Dr. Wolf on an on-going basis about two years ago as a COPD patient. She is fabulous. She has seen me for pneumonia, and has referred me to the excellent pulmonary rehab program at Methodist.

After the receptionist was rude, I did not return. It was later found that the doctor did not check the inside of my uterus where a pollup was found by another doctor. It could have been life theatening, but thankfully it was not. What a waste of time and a risk to my health.

In March 2008 I tore my ACL and meniscus playing volleyball. I was referred to Dr. Butcher b/c he was supposedly the knee guy. He scoped my knee in May of '08, performing a partial menisectomy. After surgery he told me my ACL was only "partially" torn and that my knee was stable. Released me to play ball again in October '08. In November of '08 I jumped and my meniscus tore again--the result of an unstable knee. I ended up having to have surgery yet again. Fast forward to now. I have a new Dr. and an MRI confirmed that my ACL is torn and my knee unstable. I'm getting ready to have Dr. Butcher's work repaired with yet another surgery. And the worst part? My current doctor has seen and is currently seeing MULTIPLE victims of Dr. Butcher's negligence.

I will not have another baby at this hospital. The nurses took FOREVER to respond to my needs and they were very stingy with the supplies. I have 2 other children and this was the worst of the 3 hospitals where I had my children. The facility is beautiful but the presentation hides the deficiencies in staffing. It was overall a BAD experience and I coudn't wait to get out of there.

He is not taking new patients. He is very good. He spends time with me. My husband is a physician and I am pretty picky. I have been through two other doctors. I like someone professional and the other two doctors just weren’t. He has been great and he is pretty available for me. The office is in a brand new building and is very nice. He is punctual. When he communicates, he is very good. When he leaves it up to the staff, the communication is average. He even gave me his email so I can email him any questions I have. He dropped a report off in my mailbox last week. I don’t know if he was the one that dropped it off, but I think he did because I complained so much about his staff. We don’t hear from his referral people for weeks. If I go to his office I need to make the referrals myself. Referrals have been a problem there. He has been spot on with the treatment. I hate to say anything bad about him. I would not go to him because of some of the incompetence over there. We just have to know what questions to ask and take some things under our own control. I would continue to see him in the future.
