+ -1 moreI had a verbal contract with Mr Garnes that he would start work at 9 and work until 6. Instead he would often come at 11 leave in the afternoon to run errands and come back later to work until. Accountability was lacking and that's a problem because he charges by the hour. Secondly, he insists on using primer on all white walls and he keeps a very messy work area. It just didn't work for me. He wanted payment of $1200, I offered $1000 and we settled on $1100 and I offered to give him the remaining primer.
Description of Work: Painted living room and dining room - walls only. Did spot painting in downstairs bath following replacement of vanity, mirror & light fixture.

+ -1 moreHarold returned our call quickly and scheduled a time to give an estimate. When he arrived, we discussed the job, gave us sample color books and gave us an estimate. We accepted and asked him to start as soon as possible. He covered the everything with plastic drop cloths and cleaned up as he went. After removing the wallpaper he filled all imperfections in the 60 year old plaster. In the living room he even was able to match the texture on the wall where he had to patch holes I created running the speaker wires. My wife and I couldn't be more pleased with Harold and his work.
Description of Work: Harold removed wallpaper and painted our central hallway, stair well, Bannister, and upstairs hall. He repaired and painted the half bath where damage from a water leak upstairs had come through and cracked the plaster. The stair well into the basement and even helped me reinstall crown molding I removed to install surround speakers. He filled all the holes in the crown molding and painted the living room.

+ -1 moreHAROLD IS A GREAT PAINTING CONTRACTOR, ALWAYS READY TO WORK AND VERY FRIENDLY. I DIDN'T HESITATE TO HAND OVER THE KEYS TO MY HOME TO HIM. HE'S A LITTLE SLOW, BUT HIS EXPERTISE IN HIS WORK IS WORTH EVERY BIT OF THE WAIT AND EXPENSE. HE IS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THE AVERAGE CONTRACTOR, BUT I KNEW THAT GOING IN AND DIDN'T MIND BECAUSE I KNEW THE JOB WOULD GET DONE RIGHT.
Description of Work: HAROLD WAS HIRED TO PAINT THE ALUMINUM SIDING ON MY HOUSE AND TO REMOVE ALL THE OLD PAINT FROM THE WOODEN WINDOW FRAMES AND SILLS AND REPAINT THEM. BEFORE PAINTING THE EXTERIOR, HE COMPLETELY CLEANED THE SIDING, WHICH WAS FILTHY. HE THEN PRIMED THE SIDING (TWICE ON THE EAST AND WEST SIDES) AND THEN APPLIED THE FINAL COAT OF PAINT. HE PAINTED THE TRIM AND APPLIED AN ACCENT COLOR ON THE STORM WINDOW FRAMES.
