Estimator (the owner) showed up promptly and very friendly and helpful. Both the painter and carpenter showed up on time and completed work efficiently and with good attention to quality.. One minor annoyance. The painter chose not to use old paint I provided that matched our trim. Instead of calling me to ask if I wanted him to custom mix a new gallon he used another gallon of paint from a prior job, presuming it was the same color. Though close, it was not the same color, and thus the one section of crown molding he painted with that gallon required re-work. I informed Fine Painting and they would have been pleased to come and and repaint. To save the nuisance of another appointment I chose to repaint on my own and take a reduction in the price of the job to defray my time.
Description of Work: Repaired cracks in one ceiling, drywall work in another because of installation of new recessed lighting, and caulking for a vaulted slat board ceiling. All ceilings were painted as well as touch up on some added trim. Also provide a carpenter to repair outside trim around a patio sliding door.

The guys showed up on time, and did all the work (spackling, prep work, trim, ceilings, and walls) in just 1.5. days. This is the 4th time we've used them, and will continue to use them in the future. No problems or issues of any kind.

I contacted Fine Paining in April 2011 to obtain a quote after obtaining their information on Angie's List. Greg came to my home and gave a detailed description of the work to be done including the repairs he recommended and the paint application procedure. Fine painting delivered a detailed quote within a couple of days. The price was about 30% higher than the other two quotes I received, but the paint application procedure (priming all surfaces, brushing the primer on in some areas) was more detailed and I felt it would provide greater quality in the long run. In early June, I contacted Fine Painting to begin the work. I asked the Office Manager, Bob, if my Angie's List discount could be applied to the quote and he said yes. He sent an invoice for half the cost of the painting work (excluding the carpentry until after the job was completed). He said that their schedule looked like the work could begin at my home in late July. I told him that I was planning to be out of town the week of July 25th and did not want any painting done during that time as I wanted to be able to check on the progress of the work. He said we would address that when he called me back to schedule the work. Bob called on 7/15 and said they were able to begin the work the following Monday. I asked what time I could expect the crew so that I could be home and ensure that the work I wanted done would be done. I met with the carpenter as planned on 7/18. We walked through the work that needed to be done. I expressed concern about the heat that was expected that week (hottest forecast in over 20 years with highs near 100 and heat indexes at 110+). He said that most of their paint crews would not apply paint when it was so hot because of the cure properties of the paint. The paint crew came one morning around 8:30 am, right before I was leaving for work, to begin preparing the house for painting. They were setting up to spray wash the house when I found them working outside. I approached the crew leader and asked questions about the painting process including how the paint color was going to be selected. He told me that he was going to take some trim and siding pieces that had been removed from the house to the paint store to have them color matched and that for the front door he was going to use a color swatch to match the paint color. He expressed concern about matching the color of the front door but was not concerned about the main body and trim. I told him I was okay with a 90% match on the door. No comment was made on the other paint color matches. I asked him about painting in the heat and he said that they wouldn't apply paint if the temperatures were too high and that they would follow the shade around the house to ensure the surfaces weren't too hot. The following day carpentry was completed and paint prep work (caulking, etc) was done. The next day, 7/21, was forecasted to be the hottest day in over 20 years. I called the Fine Painting office at 7:20 in the morning and no one answered, so I left a message asking that no painting be done on my house that day due to the heat and asked that I be called back as soon as possible to confirm that no painting would be done. I had to leave for work before the paint crew arrived. I did not hear anything from Fine Painting by 11 am, so I called the office again and again no one answered, so I left another message stating my wishes that no painting be done and to call me back as soon as possible. Bob returned my call at around 12:15 and said that he had talked to the crew and told them to finish painting by 1 pm. When I arrived home that evening, a portion of my gutter, soffits, and siding had been primed. According to my neighbors the crew arrived at around 9 am and worked until around 12:30 pm. The following day I called Bob because I was heading out of town on 7/22 and wanted to know what the schedule was for completing the paint job. He stated that I should call him back when I got back in town on 7/28 to schedule the painting because I needed to be home to open the doors. After the experience of calling and asking them not to paint on 7/21 and them painting anyway, I was worried about work being done while I was out of town. I noticed that the color of the primer was off slightly but thought it was just because it was primer. I took a picture of the primer next to the original paint prior to leaving. I received a call from Bob on 7/27 asking me if I had any concerns or comments after seeing the completed paint job on my house! I was still out of town at this point and didn't know the work had been completed. I told Bob I was still out of town and that I would call him when I got home. I returned home around 4:50 pm on 7/27 and immediately knew that the color of the main part of my house was off. I also noticed that all of my windows were painted shut so I called Fine Painting and no one answered so I left a couple of messages. I asked to be called back as soon as possible. Bob called back around 7:50 am on 7/28 and asked what the concerns were. I told him my main two concerns were with the color of the body of the house and with my windows being painted shut. He asked what a good time was to come out and address the issues. I told him I could meet him at noon that day or on 7/29 at 8 am. He said he would see me at 7/29 at 8 am. On 7/29 my doorbell rang at 7:35 am. It was the paint crew leader. He said that Bob had told him that my windows were painted shut. He asked which ones and I said all of them. I asked him if Bob had said anything to him about the paint color and he said no. I told him I wasn't happy with the color and that I thought Bob was going to be here that morning to resolve the issue. The paint crew leader proceeded to open my windows and completed the work around 8:20. I still hadn't heard from Bob so I called him. He said that I had misunderstood and that he hadn't planned on coming to my house that morning. I asked what the next steps were to address the paint color issue. He said I would have to talk to the owner, Dave Fine, but Dave was out of town until 8/2. We set up a meeting for myself and Dave on 8/3 at 8 am. I called Bob on 8/2 to confirm that Dave would be at my house at 8 on 8/3. Bob confirmed the appointment. On 8/3 at 7:55, Greg, the person who did the estimate arrived at my house. He looked at the color and said that he felt it was close enough and that no error was made. I argued the fact that the color did not match the original color of the house and I did not have the opportunity to stop the work because I had been out of town. I asked if Dave was coming to my house that morning. He said that he was not. There were two appointments and Dave was in Noblesville while Greg was at my house. I told him that I didn't appreciate Bob lying to me. He said that Bob did not lie to me. I told him that I had confirmed with Bob the day before the Dave would be at my house at 8 am. Greg did not consider that a lie. I understand him defending his group but at this point I was beyond frustrated! I asked if I could meet with Dave. Greg said that he would have Bob call me to schedule it. I asked if Dave could just call me directly. I sent the above review along with an offer to work with Dave Fine to resolve the issue to Fine Painting on 8/3. That afternoon, Bob Fine called me to set up a meeting with Dave Fine on the following Monday 8/8. Dave Fine arrived as scheduled on 8/8 and reviewed my the color issues with me. He offered to paint my mini barn to match the house since it is no longer the same color. I told him I would consider that offer. After further thought, I am unwilling to accept that offer since unfortunately it does not resolve my original issue, which is that the color of my house is not the same color it was before. Another meeting with Dave Fine was scheduled on 8/18. Again, Fine Painting disagreed with my claims. on 8/18, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau to try to negotiate to resolve the issue. Fine Painting responded with a letter demanding that I pay the balance of the invoice by 8/24 or they will place a Mechanic's Lien on my home and move to foreclose on my home if the balance is not paid within 30 days. Due to that threat I have paid the balance in full but am not satisfied with their work or their customer service. This company is set in their ways of doing the work and asking them to do anything outside of their "normal" process will be ignored. I have pictures along with original paint chips from my house that clearly show the difference in color. NO bush was removed OR trimmed after their work was completed. The paint crew missed painting a portion of my home. They claim they missed it because a bush was in the way. The painting crew removed another bush on my home so they could properly paint behind it. This bush could have also been removed but they chose not to raise the issue. In the picture below you can see the difference in color between where the house was painted and where it was not. This difference in color is not due to the difference between fresh and old paint as the company would lead you to believe. It is a true difference in color. My request to have my house repainted to match the original color (and the color of my mini barn which no longer matches my house) is not unnecessary and ridiculous as the company claims. The work that I paid the company to do as written in their quote was to paint my house to match the existing color. They failed to do so. I also dispute that the company says that I gave them permission to start the job on a certain date (one week before I was going to be out of town) and never told them not to paint on specific dates.
Description of Work: Fine painting was hired to complete some exterior trim (cedar) and siding (old hardi-plank) repairs/replacement and to paint the entire exterior of my home including siding, trim, gutters, and doors.

Response from Fine Painting Inc
I am sorry the Member is upset with her painting project. We matched the paint color to a piece of siding removed from the house. The color match made by Glidden Paints was a very good match. This method has always been one of the best ways to match the existing paint color. The paint we applied looks fresh and new as compared to the weathered and faded paint that was on before. We believe this is the difference not that the colors are different. All of the member's calls were answered or returned as quickly as possible. We did not force our way on to painting her house. She was called with a start date, we started that date. Never did she say do not come to my house and paint. She was concerned about the heat during this time and we took our normal precautions. The painters started early and finished early, to avoid the hottest part of the day. This is done as precaution for the painters. The recommended temperatures from the paint manufacturer were never exceeded. We have talked to the customer several times over the phone and in person to try to resolve her complaints. We offered to paint her mini-barn at no additional charge in an effort to appease her. We are not going to repaint her home for free. It is unnecessary and ridiculous. The customer recently paid her balance due. After the home was painted a bush removed, revealing an unpainted area. The photo below show the difference between the old and new paint.

Most painters refuse to stain fiberglass door entry units because of difficulty blending the stain. Fine Painting gave us a very fair estimate and Bob, the scheduler, assured us that we would be pleased with the result. The very hot July weather delayed the staining because Bob called several times to reschedule since the stain and clear coat could not be applied properly with temperatures above 90 degrees. Mike did the actual blending of the stain on the fiberglass unit both inside and out and did a truly outstanding job matching our existing stain. Neighbors remarked how well the outside staining of the door and sidelights had been done. The clear coat, applied by Mike and Jack, is as smooth as glass. Everyone at Fine Painting was very cooperative, the painters started and finished their work as scheduled, and the cleanup was very well done. We were very pleased with all aspects of the work performed.

Great! They called the same day I contacted them to setup an estimate. Salesman was professional, polite and got me an estimate the next day. His recommendation on type of paint was excellent. It is great stuff. They got me scheduled for the next week. The painter (Jeff) did excellent work! Very diligent with preparation (laying down tarps, etc.) as well as clean up. I came home at the end of the day and hardly knew he had been there. Also very efficient. Came in, got prepped and got right to work. Jeff was polite, professional and I felt completey comfortable having him in my home when I was away at work. My rooms look beautiful! Price was competitive - not the lowest bid, but certainly not the highest - and I definitely feel that I got my money's worth. Will call them again for any future painting work.

I scheduled the appointment, explained what was needed and my husband met them at the scheduled time. They were prompt, completely understood what was needed, provided an estimate and followed-up in writing. I called and advised we were pleased with the correspondence, explaining work needed and cost and wanted them to complete our exterior painting etc. They scheduled the date, called one day prior as promised, arrived timely, completed the task within the time frame set and we were so pleased. A follow-up phone call was received at our home wanting to know what we thought of the completed job and if any problems surfaced during the work. We were so pleased with the painting project, our home is so beautiful thanks to their skill and professionalism. The crew was talented, courteous and took pride in the job they were completing for us. Excellent Work!!

I started by getting several estimates. After comparing the estimates I decided to go with Fine Painting. I chose Fine because the estimator, Greg, really spent a lot of time during the estimate answering all my questions and even educating me a bit. He was also easy to reach afterwards when I had additional questions. They started the job ahead of schedule and finished in just 3 days which was surprising considering how hot it was. Steve and the painting crew were great. They kept me updated during the job and were available for questions. Steve even removed a few birds nests from the gutters. The house looks great!

Due to the scope of work to be performed, I met with and received estimates from three companies. Although Fine Painting was not the lowest estimate, I chose them for these reasons: Reviews on Angie's List, recommended by the company that installed our audio/intercom system and most importantly, their obvious professionalism and integrity. The painters and carpenter were professional in manner and work performance, took great care to protect furniture, carpet, flooring, etc. They were very personable and I never felt uncomfortable with giving them access to my home while I was away. They daily showed up on time, cleaned their areas of work and most impressively, they took the time to do a fantastic job. I received a follow-up call after the work was completed to be sure I was satisfied with the results. I am so impressed with the results, I've yet to put nail holes in the beautiful walls! i've schedule them to come back and paint the exterior of my home and I look forward to working with them again.

Dave was very professional, I called his office on Friday morning and even though he was booked for the day he made time to fit me in for an estimate the same day. He showed up on time and went into detail about the work he would perform. He sent me a very detailed estimate the same day, including a description of the different paints available. He also included a detailed list of references and awards to help show the quality of his work. We are still debating on moving forward, however based off the information he provided it seems he would be a great company to use.

The man who came to give the estimate was efficient and had an estimate to me by email less than one day later. When I called to accept the estimate and schedule the work, I was told that they could come the very next day. I quickly picked out paint colors, called them in and prepared the rooms. Painters (3) arrived on time and gave each room 2 coats of paint, moved furniture back in place and left by 1:30. The office called soon after to check my satisfaction.

I waited until the last minute to try and get my kitchen painted for a party my wife was holding. They presented me with an proposal on a Friday. I emailed/called on Sunday saying I would like them to do the work, but only if they could do it the following week. I knew they were already booked that week because I had initial conversations with the owner, Bob Fine. However, in order to secure the work, he agreed to have someone out that Wednesday at 8:00. And it gets better - we changed our minds on what we wanted painted. So instead of saying something like, "we'll have to come back and do that at another time", the estimator arrived with the painter at 8:00 and they went over our requests, created a new estimate, and completed the work right them. What customer service! Also, the painter added some small sections to ensure we'd be happy with the job. He suggested and added painting of the trim for a small amount as he was afraid we wouldn't be happy unless the entire room looked new. The price was slightly lower than other bids and I also felt that this local company was the answer for me. Without a doubt, they will be my go-to paint company. I had used Certa Pro before and contacted them for this job as they had done some good work at my house, but they weren't able to come out for over a month. Plus, I got a lot more personal attention that I didn't get from Certa.
Description of Work: I had Fine Painting paint our newly remodeled Kitchen. They did an outstanding job...prompt, professional, on time, and very friendly.

The crew was always on time, and very professional. They kept things neat as possible, and finished on time.
Description of Work: Our house hadn't been painted for nearly 15 years.. and two rooms had wallpaper. These guys did a great job. Everything looks better now than when the house was new. There was extensive work done on the papered walls because of the shoddy workmanship by the original builders. By the time Fine's crew was done, it looked outstanding. There was also extensive work on the drywall where the house had settled over the years. It looks perfect now.

I live out of town and had to not only organize with Fine Painting, but my tenant. Fine was very responsive to working with me on a date when I could be in town, even though all of this was fairly short notice. Tenant carefully oversaw the process once I left and he said the work was very good.
Description of Work: Painted railing and ceiling of exterior front patio.
