I wasn't prepared for that, so had to schedule another day off from work. Overall, though, they did a very good job and we were pleased with the work.

 + -1 moreI selected Fine Painting based upon Angies LIst reports and was not disappointed - excellent experience from start to finish. Greg arrived on time and gave me a detailed quote broken down by room. He made a number of helpful suggestions and provided me with background information regarding the company and its employees. The quote was the lower of the two quotes that I received. Steve and Keith arrived on time and began prep work. They took down heavy curtain valances, moved and covered furniture, and thouroughly covered floors with drop cloths. Quality of work was uniformly excellent - dry wall and ceiling repairs look great, two coats of paint were applied to all walls, color match on the ceiling repairs was spot-on. They cleaned up every day and reinstalled valances and repositioned furniture after completing the job.
Description of Work: Scope of work: Interior painting - foyer / upper hall way, bedroom, walk-in closet, lower hallway, entry closet, laundry room, family room, living room, dining room. Patched over numerous picture hanger holes (~100), made dry wall repairs in closet, repaired cracked ceiling, sanded walls and applied two coats of paint. Completed in 2 1/2 days.

 + 0 moreIt was a good experience. We had our office painted over a 3 day period. They were very careful with covering and moving items. They stripped wallpaper from almost half of our walls and did a wonderful job repairing walls where they needed it. After our carpet was installed, they came back to repair damage done by the installers. The repairs were fairly priced and they did a great job getting the walls back to look freshly painted again. I talked to several people at Fine Painting and had a good experience with each one. I would highly recommend them as they do professional work.
Description of Work: We had our office painted inside and some trim and a door outside painted. They also stripped wallpaper from several walls.

 + 1 moreJack and Mike are the two best painters/workers I believe I have ever had in my home. Very prompt, courteous, SO professional, and very sensitive to my recent health issues (they ensured they used a special paint that had very little smell so I would not become even sicker...and it WORKED WONDERFULLY! ONLY SMELLED CLEAN! not fumey, etc.). I hardly even knew they were in my home, so quiet. Came and went daily (got all work done in two days) with ease and never made one smudge or left anything out of place or in less condition than when they arrived. Neighbors and friends are marveling at the PERFECT PAINT JOB they did. I am planning on having these two guys do our family room, hallways upstairs and downstairs, and baths up and down, too. Plus some drywall repair. It was worth the $$$ we spent for they were very very good in every sense of the word. MOST PROFESSIONAL. Could not ask for a better job!! THANKS, JACK AND MIKE!! And GREG, too, for he was my initial contact with FINE PAINTING.

 + -1 moreAlthough at thestart I had some miscommunication with the painters, the experience went very well. They started on a Monday and finished by Thursday afternoon. The invoice matched what I quoted including the addtional work I requested. I also had them come back and finish my kitchen after I had new counter tops installed a month later. At the same time I had them paint the hallway to make it worth the additional trip, and that was done promptly and correctly. The last invoice was wrong, but Mr. Fine corrected it immediately. I would use Fine Painting again in the future.

 + -1 moreThe painters called on the first morning to let us know they had gotten lost and would be arriving late. They did not have the paint when they arrived, yet they had the paint choice information already writtem out. They were going to go to Sherwin Williams, but we had selected Porter. They were supposed to have arrived and started work by 8:00 that morning, but did not start until almost 10:30. The painters were very friendly, understanding & kind about children being in the house while they were working. They did not put down drop cloths to completely cover the carpet, resulting in two large and one small paint stains on the carpet. Drywall patching was not done in several places I was very sloppy in others such that you could see rough spots & could tell it had not been primed since it was a different color that the rest of the wall. They did not cover the fireplace mantel, window sills, counter tops, or door frames completely. They painted over an outlet that they had not covered with tape & stuck an electrical plug through tape with wet paint on it that got into the openings of two outlets. The overall paint job was sloppy, with wall paint on the trim, spatters on our wood floor, and the original wall color showing through in multiple places. It was very evident that they had not gone back with a second coat. We contacted the company to express our dissatisfaction with the job. Bob Fine was very apologetic and wanted to do whatever he needed to do to make the situation right. A second crew was sent the following week to finish the painting job and claean up the sloppy work. The second crew fiexd the poor drywall repairs and paint work on the walls, cleaned the paint out of the carpet, and repainted trim where needed.
Description of Work: Interior prep and painting of foyer, stairwell, two hallways, kitchen, family room, living room, and dining room with two coats of paint. The job was scheduled for two days.

 + 0 moreOverall, the painting was near perfection. It was the periferral elements that caused challenges. Bob was more than willing to let me pay what I thought was "fair". Steven, the lead painter was awesome.
Description of Work: Overall, an interior painting job well done. My daughter loves her room! However, some miscommunication between the field estimator, the office manager, and the painters nearly cost me double the $560 I was prepared to pay. I got two bids from two Angie's list painters. Both companies emailed me their bids after personally surveying the areas to be prepped and painted. I chose Fine because their field representative, Greg, was most professional and thorough, and because of their Angie's List A rating. The emailed bid from Fine estimated a cost of $600, while the other company's bid was broken down item by item at $662.65. I emailed Fine to confirm the approximate cost of $560 which included a $40 Angie's List Member discount and to make sure any extra paint was left for tough ups. I got a confirmation email. I thought it was to be a one day job but it ended up going into a second day. Fine Painting sent two professional painters who were prompt, pleasant, and neat. I was at home the entire time. The first day the painting duo got my accent wall in the stairwell painted, prepped the bedroom walls, and purchased the paint. They arrive promptly before 830 am and left quietly at 230 pm. The second day they got my bedroom finished with two coats by 130 pm. She loved it and so did I. The painters did not take payment with them on Friday. Bob Fine called me Monday to make sure I was happy with the outcome and to say he'd be emailing me the invoice for payment. I was shocked to receive a bill for $1,027.50. This was $467 more than I'd agreed to and $365 more than my other bid. I immediately called Bob Fine. The confusion came from two identifiable sources...the way the job estimator, had written up the bid; and the surface preparation time turned in by the two painters. The prep time for one man was less than or equal to 5 actual hours and they'd claimed 9.5 hours for two men. Do's and Don'ts Lessons learned....don't agree to email bids without talking to someone first to clarify the bid; Be home and available when the work is being done so you keep track of actual hours worked; leverage your Angie's List Membership to your advantage on discounts and pricing; always get two or more bids for reference.

On the scheduled day of work, however, there was a slight mix up in information between the office and the painter, which delayed the starting time of the project by a couple of hours. The workmanship was excellent. The expected drying time took far longer than thought, however, which posed a small inconvenience with the cool evening drawing in and the front door still not having dried completely enough to close. Aside from the minor quirks, the two finished projects are well done, and we're satisfied. I would recommend this company to anyone who needs fine quality painting done. I intend to use this company again. Make sure to ask for your Angie's List discount and check the invoice to make sure it's been applied!
Description of Work: 1. Our rather unique front door was renewed (sanding and staining). 2. The window surround above our sink area was renewed (sanding and staining). A marine stain was recommended for both projects.

 + -1 moreI contacted Fine Painting and they were punctual in coming out to assess my home. He had several documents with him and handed me a handout regarding lead paint. My home is over 120 years old but was extensively renovated in the 80s which I discussed with the painter. He said that regardless that he would not be able to do any sanding of any surfaces due to this. He reported that there was no exception to this. He looked around my home and took measurements. An area of the ceiling that would need significant sanding and repair he informed me could be done because it was small in size. He then left and the next day sent me an estimate of the costs. They were nearly double what I had gotten from several other companies. I have an older home and was not looking for perfection. Since this would essentially be applying spackle to some nail holes and a small ceiling repair. I could not justify spending nearly $800 on a painting job where I purchased the paint.
Description of Work: Painting of a stairwell, landing, and upstairs hallway walls and ceiling. Trim not to be painted as it was stained. Repair of some noticeable cracks and an old water stained area on the ceiling.
