Description of Work: It cost $27,500 for labor & lumber, siding, etc. the contractor Dave Roy was very rude to me most of the time it took 11 months to finish & he gave the builders the wrong estimates for the top deck which is pretty useless cause it's too small to put chairs or anything on it .plus there where quite a few real bad noticeable flaws which they were Sorta fixed. I would Never recommend him to anyone. Even his builders said we were their last job with him.

Description of Work: We had our main bathroom remodeled. The process was very easy. We went with the labor only quote and bought the materials from a local store With guidelines and suggestions from America's Construction. |The job turned out beautifully. During the process, they were great to work with. However, customer service fail off after the job was complete. We still have not heard back from them about a small issue we found after the job was done. Also important for future customers to know, the payment schedule was set up as 1st installment at contract signing, 2nd at start of work, and final at completion. However, we were hit with an additional $420 at completion. Partly because I requested wainscoting after we signed the contract. And, for some additional plumbing work. I found the additional charge hard mainly because I didn't know the amount until the last minute. I did ask for and received receipts for purchases made by the company. When the receipts did not add up, I was told the additional was for the extra labor. Overall, we were very pleased with the job and are considering hiring them again for our next project.

Very poorly planned and executed! Basically, over-promised and under delivered. Poor scheduling and follow-up. Needed constant communication on our part to get things done. Very unresponsive to our requests. Got most of the work done but we had to cancel a potion of it because they could not get the proper permitting (even though they said it would be no problem). Sales person is good and reliable but the owner is not.

Response from America's Construction Experts
America’s Construction Experts contracted with [member name removed] on 8/24/2013 to remodel a bathroom, help with existing work in another bathroom, remove a shed, do some kitchen work, build a garage shed type run-off, and remove an existing deck and build a sunscreen room. This review stated, “Very poorly planned and executed!” We do not disagree. The construction manager at that time was terminated leaving us backlogged with existing clients that we had to redo what was done and not completed. In this specific case we started the process with the building and planning commission of Crown Point. Only to find out that upon Crown Point permit issuance that Crown Point realized we needed to go through Schererville Building and Planning Department. We submitted the exact same paperwork approved through Crown Point in a week and it took Schererville Building Department approximately 5-weeks to approve. Not only that we rushed to get extra documentation that Crown Point did not require, like a survey that we rushed and got within 72-hours. “Needed constant communication.” We were in contact during the entire course of remodel. “Got most of the work done but we had to cancel a potion of it because they could not get the proper permitting.” We were in constant contact. On top of that we had additional communications with changes FORCED by Schererville Building Department that were ALREADY APPROVED. One change was Schererville wanted 8ft post instead of the 4ft they approved for the sunscreen room. We had to change the entire design, or get a soil test that would have cost the client more money. Again, this was AFTER the drawings were APPROVED. And we worked urgently to get this all handled as quickly as possible. The other change the client is referring too is the garage shed type run-off; Schererville would not approve structure because of a gas line. We had two options at this point. 1, client could get gas lined moved. 2, remove that portion from agreement. We wanted to build it. We offered to build a brand new shed that clients picked out. “Sales person is good and reliable but the owner is not.” This is a difficult statement to understand. If not for the owner assisting in all the major distractions this job would have not been completed. At one point 99.9% of contractors would have left job site because of everything happening. The owner made 25+ trips to job site to make sure that with all the distractions we were still moving forward and keeping peace during a stressful time for all parties. America’s Construction Experts final comment: Did we make a mistake on the hiring of our construction manager at that time that had been with us 24+ months, yes. Hindsight is always 20/20. Did we put procedures in place to prevent this from happening in the future? Yes. Did we face time issues outside of our control? Yes. Every time the clients called we were there. Did they love their final result? Yes. All of it turned out beautiful. They failed to mention that and the EXTRA work we provided that was not part of their original agreement. At the end of the day we gave our best effort for all the things that we could not control. This review is coming 5-months after the job was completed. Heck, they even pushed to get approximately $10,000 off original agreement which we accepted to keep moving forward, complete job, and maintain peace. This is a harsh review on a site we are registered but never use. We will never leave a client in the middle of job regardless of circumstances. Nor will we ever accept anything less than our best. This is our first negative rating and we have thousands of satisfied clients. 90% of our business is word-of-mouth. We do appreciate the client’s feedback as we use as a tool to keep getting better.
