Kelly’s division, Johnson Heating, came prepared with a thermocouple and that was exactly what the problem was. It was a quick fix. I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again.
Description of Work: Had an old floor furnace that wouldn’t heat. Suspected it was the thermocouple since I had this issue a long time ago.

We saw a wet area around the two floor drains in our basement...a first in the 21 years we have lived in this 1929 house in Meridian Kessler. This was April 2016. Next, when the washer discharged rinse water beside one of the drains, I began to see light brown water with bits of toilet paper in it come up into the basement from the drain and run in both directions along the back wall for about five feet. It did drain out quickly but it was obvious something must be done. I called Kellie...the company we had used two years before and were happy with. Casey, the plumber they sent at that time, worked over all the faucets in our house...suffering the effects of galvanized plumbing in the upstairs walls and floors, ran a new copper line and faucet to the hose reel outside and was quite knowledgeable...20 years of experience. Casey came with an auger and ran it for three hours through the floor drain and each time it stopped at the same point....about 65 feet. He felt it was running up against some sort of blockage, and measured and determined that the blockage was in the middle of the front yard. Three runs of the auger gave the same answer. The next visit was from the camera crew. These two young men ran a camera and we watched on the monitor as it made its way and again...at 65 feet it stopped. The hand-held sonar device that one of the young men took to the front yard confirmed the measurement. It was obvious we must do something. I'm the nervous type that wants to do things the slow and careful way and unfortunately that usually is more expensive. But...my hope is that it will last forever! Therefore, we made the appointment for Kellie to come and do what we thought would be a "small" repair in the front yard. Our house is on a rather high lot and we have a basement, so that meant that the clay tile was most likely 9 or 10 feet underground. Kellie determined that they did not have a backhoe large enough to dig that deeply so they subbed out the job to an excavation company that they had used in the past. And from this point on, every cent of what we paid went to them. The Kellie plumber that was assigned to our job was constantly on hand to go down in the trench to run the hand-held equipment, etc. There is no avoiding a lot of waiting around in this sort of work. And little did we know that this would turn out to be one of the most severe clogs they had had in a long time! The backhoe would crush a section of clay tile and then the two assistants would drag it apart with shovels and inspect the remains. It was constantly full of what looked like tiny tree root hairs and just "dirt." Then the backhoe would back up a few feet toward the street and repeat this process. This went on for a few days. I was warned that if they crossed the city sidewalk, it would be another category. We did. Then I was warned that if it continued in this fashion and went into the street, still clogged, it would be yet another category....and it was. Even the mailman weighed in on the situation....I introduced him to my husband when he stopped by on his lunch hour and my husband said later that the mailman had said to him in a low voice....."If you have to go into the street, the price doubles." And....it did. We had to have about four sections of the city sidewalk torn out. Then a long expanse of the perfect sandstone curb was lifted up and out and discarded. Next, a special cutter came and scored the asphalt and that was ground out and removed. Four huge dump trucks of our yard's dirt was hauled off. The street was blocked off at each end with signs during the day at this point and at night metal plates were put over the hole. The city gas line and water line, left suspended over the trench for days. Roped off by yellow tape. But finally, when the backhoe had backed up so far that it had broken the curb across the street, and the driver was so beside himself that he got off the machine and put on gloves and got down in the trench and with his hands, pulled back debris with his hands....we reached the main. Yes, our clog reached all the way to the main. Our plumber on the job, Dave, said that he bet the clog was already in place when we bought the house 21 years ago. And a very few feet on the other side of the main, in the city grass strip on the other side of the street, lined up perfectly is a massive old silver maple that the homeowner over there has tried in vain to get the city to remove because it drops huge dead limbs from time to time on the street and city sidewalk, to no avail. We imagine that is the source of the root hairs. I sit here typing this and our new asphalt patch in the street lines up perfectly with that tree. Everything that was done underground seems to have been done correctly. It fell apart when the excavation company did a rush job on putting our yard back together and pouring a partial sidewalk and curb. But this is where Kellie is wonderful....they said they wanted to make me "happy" and worked with my husband to somewhat reduce the price to make up for the fact that we had Mattingly Concrete jackhammer out the concrete repair and the curb repair and replace it, and we will pay out of our pocket in the spring for the yard to be re-done. Kellie said a few mistakes were made along the way and they are going to absorb them. As my husband said..."This is the price of doing business." And I will not hesitate to use Kellie again. They are great. I gave a B for the price just because I was stunned at the price itself....the mid-$20,000's....and a lot of it was labor. We had men here for days....a couple of weeks at least. Multiple permits, several inspections, at least two kinds of crushed stone to go in the trench when it was time to fill it in, at least two cement mixers here to pour. The only day I missed was the day after the 4th of July when they did the asphalt patch. There were a lot of categories to this job. A lot of men and a lot of trucks. It all adds up.

Denis Jimenez arrived and I explained that the clog was somewhere between the washing machine, Bathroom sink, and Kitchen sink. He asked to see the layout of these rooms and asked why I thought this did not involve the main sewer drain. Satisfied with my answer, he asked to see the pipes in the basement. Then he asked me to go up and try the different drains. He concluded that the problem was in the Kitchen line and went to work. He not only got the drain unclogged, he discovered that my Kitchen drain had an Automatic vent on it that had clogged and was no good. He demonstrated how my sink should be draining and gave me an estimate for replacing this vent. All the time he was he, he was explaining things to me and giving me tips for avoiding this problem happening again. He also had a great sense of humor. I've been looking for a plumbing company. I think I've found it!

First, to my credibility: I am a police officer sworn to be honest and trustworthy. I have also owned a business for 22 years. Kellie Plumbing has been a customer and I know the former owner as well as the new owner, Ron G. who also owns Johnson Heating & Cooling in Greenwood. Ron and I have always had a good relationship and he knows me to be an honest and trustworthy person. On to the event... I own a couple dozen rental properties. One of my tenants called to tell me that the water heater in the house was not working. I called Kellie Plumbing who said that they could send a technician out to the house. The technician called me after looking at the water heater. He told me that the heating element had gone bad. He gave me an option to replace the element or to replace the entire water heater. I asked him how the rest of the water heater looked and he replied that it looked fine. IMPORTANT: I asked the technician how long it would take to repair the water heater. He replied by telling me that "we" don't carry parts for water heaters that we don't sell and that he would have to see if he could even get the parts (today) and would have to contact his office to see when he could get back out to the house. I told him to check into those things and to CALL ME BACK. After speaking with the technician, I returned a call from one of my handyman about another property. During the call, he told me that his job for the day cancelled. I asked him if he had time to look at the water heater. He said "yes" and went straight over to the rental. My handyman agreed with the diagnosis of the problem offered by the technician from Kellie Plumbing. He went to a hardware store right around the corner, returned and then fixed the water heater. A few hours later, the Kellie Plumbing technician called me requesting payment for fixing the water heater. I asked what he was talking about and he told me that he had received permission to go buy the parts and return to fix the water heater. I told him that I had already had it fixed by someone else! He replied and told me that was "too bad" and that he had done the work and expected to be paid. I told the Kellie technician that the last thing I told him was to call me back after speaking with his office and that I never authorized him to do the work. The technician told me that he "figured" I would want the work done so he took it upon himself to get the water heater fixed. I asked him if he happened to notice all of the new parts in the water heater. The technician replied that he didn't notice them but wasn't paying attention since he had looked at the parts that morning. I told the technician that he hadn't been told to do the work and that he was to have checked on prices, parts and when he could be re-scheduled to come back out to the house and to call me with that information. None of this seemed to register with the technician and he kept saying that he did the work and needed to be paid. I told the technician that I wanted Ron to call me and that I would work it out with him. Ron never called me. No one from Kellie Plumbing ever called me to discuss this matter. Just last week, this same water heater began leaking all over the floor and into the kitchen of the house. I called Kellie Plumbing only because they were the last people to work on the water heater. The scheduling lady refused to send anyone out because we refused to pay the bill for the heating element repair. I told her what happened and that her technician had removed and thrown away brand new parts. She told me that she had my side of the story and her technician's side of the story and that she was believing him and would not be sending anyone out to the house. I informed her that I wanted to speak with Ron about the matter and she said that she would pass along the message. Ron still hasn't called me nor has anyone from Kellie Plumbing. I don't know if the leak in the water heater was caused by the Kellie Plumbing technician or if it was just a strange coincidence. What I do know is that the technician told me that the water heater looked fine (other than the heating element). I am thoroughly disappointed in Ron, Kellie Plumbing and the staff of Kellie / Johnson Heating & Cooling. PRICE NOTE: The handyman fixed the water heater's heating element for less than HALF of what Kellie's technician had quoted.
Description of Work: Changed out the heating element in a water heater, without permission, without my knowledge and likely caused the water heater to leak causing damage to the floor.

{Member Name Removed} It has been brought to our attention the review {Member Name Removed} placed on Angie’s List on August 27, 2015 regarding our company Kellie Plumbing and your specific rental at 5622 Riva Ridge Drive, Indianapolis IN 46237. First and foremost, we apologize for any misunderstanding and confusion. Ron, of course, makes himself available for customers and business associates all the time. Let me make sure you have his cell number, it has not changed for years so hopefully this matches your records – Ron Griesemer 317-714-0936, also, his email is ron@johnsoncomfort.com. If you need immediate response and Ron is not available since he is often out of the office, in meetings etc. similarly as both of you are aware of the demands of a busy business. Please reach out to Paul Burgess, Vice President of Operations, 317-315-0575 or paul@johnsoncomfort.com, Darla Kinnaman, Office Manager and HVAC dispatcher, 317-353-5855 or darla@johnsoncomfort.com or Zona Lanham at 317-881-7738 or zona@johnsoncomfort.com. We will do our best to resolve any issue which may occur and to put Ron in contact with you as soon as possible. “On to the event” to steal a page from your review. There are a number of parts to your review which I would like to address. If you do not remind, I will enumerate them: 1) Again, I am sorry Ron did not get your request to have him call you. As you may know he is not always in the office. I hope, the provided information regarding other contact methods is helpful. I understand the need for multiple contacts when doing business, for example when Tim was leaving town, he would hand off any “current” issues with rentals to you for further contact and vice versa. 2) Our technicians do carry as many parts on our “warehouses on wheels” as possible and we do tend to carry more parts for products we most often install. This would be why our technician would have to see if he could get the parts required to repair your rentals water heater. 3) It is my understanding, as our technician was locating parts for your job, you spoke with one of your handymen from a different property and he went over to Riva Ridge Drive property. Your “handyman agreed with the diagnosis of the problem offered by the technician from Kellie Plumbing”. While our technician was locating the parts you had the handyman “do the repair”. I am confused, when our technician returns after locating the parts, he would have noticed any new parts on your water heater and not removed them. Our licensed plumber did the repair the same day as the diagnosis. He was in phone contact with you, you had spoken with him and he had left you messages. When he spoke to you, you said the repair “had to be done”. Our technicians always obtain permission for repairs. You and Tim Shields are very clear on that point, as well. We have dealt with Infinity Real Estate Investments rental properties and tenants who call our office requesting service. We always refer your tenants back to your company and work with both you and Tim on any given current need. Our technician requested payment and you refused. 4) Your next concern was regarding a leak in the same water heater around the week of August 20. You called for service and our plumbing dispatch indicated the outstanding invoice regarding this property and was unable to dispatch for you. Any business cannot typically continue to invest labor and materials into jobs without funding for those jobs. We have gone through a recent merger of companies and the Kellie Plumbing staff is new to some of the measures which we utilize to comply with customer service standards. Please do not hesitate to contact any of the other people in our company for resolutions. My concern is that your handyman may have gone in after our licensed plumber did the repairs and/or attempted to work on the water heater. There is no way we could know this information. Our plumbing technicians are back ground checked and screened carefully and respect our ethical standards, ones which Ron holds. Ron has zero tolerance for unethical practices for his business, so to indicate that our technician would damage your property is a serious statement. The work was done on July 15th, if damage was done to your water heater intentionally or unintentionally, it should have shown leaks well before your call during the week of August 20th. 5) Your final note was regarding the price. Yes the cost of having a licensed plumbing company do your repair is more than an unlicensed handyman doing repairs. There are no warranties on labor or parts with a handyman. Our invoice to you indicated both, 1 year warranty on parts and labor with regard to the specific work performed. Additionally, a handyman is unlikely to come out in the middle of the night to perform emergency work for your rentals, as we do for everyone. Now that we have gone through your review, point by point, we would like to ask you to remove your negative review from Angie’s List. We may, indeed, need to go through their process but we thought reaching out to you and your partner was the best first step. I hope that we have addressed your concerns and in a much calmer respect, we hope we can resolve this issue. I would like to know if you would like to schedule a face to face meeting to resolve this issue. I am giving copies of this letter to Ron, Paul and Darla and will be glad to facilitate a meeting with both partners of Infinity Real Estate Investment LLC and our staff to make sure this does not happen again.

Denis had been out before to work on some drain issues and had checked the sump pump before. He recommended replying it because of it's incorrect installation and it's age. He came back to do that. From what we can see (water comes out into the yard without gravel during a rain) it seems to be working well.

We found our sump pump dead last night around 10:30. We called Kellie Plumbing and Denis was out in less than 45 minutes. He worked with good cheer until after midnight installing a new pump explaining everything to my husband during the process. This morning, we discovered that the one way valve wasn't functioning and called back. Denis (after less than 6 hours of sleep - I'm sure) was back less than 30 minutes after our call as cheerful as ever, diagnosed and fixed the problem (not his fault; grit had wedged it open). We were very impressed with the responsiveness both times, but more so with Denis who at no point made us feel a burden or that he was put out over the lateness / earliness of the trip. Thank you, Denis! Well done Kellie Plumbing!

She never called me back to schedule or provide any further information.
Description of Work: I contacted this provider to schedule someone to use a camera down my drains to locate a leak. The woman who answered the phone was hesitant to believe that my issue was plumbing related although I advised her that my leak was on the 2nd story of my three story home, and that a contractor recommended that I have the service done after viewing the issue. She said she would get with her technician to see what they thought it may be, and that it would cost $85 for them to come assess the issue. Also, to use the camera, that she noted was actually their sister company's, it would be $325.

We have used Kellie Plumbing several times in the past and have always experienced good and professional service at a reasonable price with honesty. I say this because I noticed one of our toilets leaking around the base. When Casey Davis of Kelli Plumbing examined what I thought was a leak he found it to be something else and there was actually not a problem. The honesty part comes in at, I could have been charged more than a service call. Casey was very pleasant in explaining why I thought there was a leak and said If for some reason I find later a leak he would wave the service fee on the next visit if a repair is needed. I highly recommend Kelli Plumbing and especially Casey Davis.

We reviewed our records and believe we found the call this review is referring to. The work address and cost are different and the work date was over a year before. The signed service ticket clearly shows a discounted charge for the work of $75. A check was received at the time of service for $35 and we billed out the remaining balance at that time. Upon reviewing our payables file we discovered this balance was still open and requested the balance be paid. The quoted cost is clearly a misunderstanding as we could never deliver such a service for the price of $35. We only requested payment for the work performed and should have been more proactive when the invoice balance went unpaid for so long. We apologize for any confusion.

The call history at this home shows three trips over the last eight years to clear the outside drain of tree roots. The last occurring was in February of 2012. We provided a quote to replace the piping in 2009 which the owner declined. Annual maintenance with a root killing compound would be the next best solution but replacing the piping will cure the root issue.

The repair man arrived on time and was very friendly. Except for tracking through our carpet with wet shoes from the rain things went well until he had completed the repair. I pointed out that the hose bib was loose and not properly secured. He told me that was the way the old one was. When I assured him it was not loose he argued with me. He then got the idea of replacing the hose bib mounting screws with longer ones. I told him that the ones he wanted to use were the wrong type and not acceptable. He found some other screws and secured the hose bib so that it was no longer loose. I accepted this even though I did not feel that it was the proper way to secure the hose bib. I was also disappointed with the way that he closed up the hole in our kitchen wall by just loosely attaching the drywall back in. I had expected some type of a plate similar to the way that another plumber had repaired my hose bib on the other side of the house.

The service worked out. He ended up working for the two hours that I had purchased. The work was satisfactory.
Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal for 2 hours of plumbing work. He did some work on some faucets and a couple of toilets.

I had a frozen pipe that burst. I called Kellie and a plumber was at my house in 2 hours to do a temporary fix. After the dry out and working with the mitigation company Kellie returned to cut a hole in the wall and fix the pipe. It took Denis several hours but the job was done well. I have used Kellie several times and they are a great company.
Description of Work: Repaired frozen pipe break.

The Kellie Plumbing employee arrived timely, but indicated he had to wait on us. This was an incorrect statement, since our daughter was in a front room of the house and saw the gentleman arrive. He brought a replacement pump and replaced the old unit timely. However, while working in the house, he used gloves to protect his hand and touch many surfaces throughout the house with these gloves, including kitchen areas and door knobs. He did not clean these surfaces before departing. Overall, he had no customer services skills.
Description of Work: We had an ejector pump fail while visitors were at the house. Kellie Plumbing was available and reasonably timely coming to replace the pump. The employee had no customer service skills. He replaced the pump, which continues to operate.

There were some "different" types of water lines, made of grey plastic, but they were able to install adapters without any problem. The weather was freezing and the pipes were actually partially frozen but they were able to get the work done in a timely manner in spite of that.. They took away the old water heater when finished. I was surprised that they failed to credit me for a "Deal" I had purchased which had expired. I was under the impression that the "paid value" never expired. So I did lose my $119.00.
Description of Work: A water heater was replaced at a rental property.
