Went very well. workmen were all professional and courteous and cleaned up all construction mess. We have recommended Foundation Doctor to two others. There were some delays of construction due to several heavy rains in our area. Foundation Doctor employees worked diligently to cover open areas when rain was predicted and they did a good job.

Went fairly well until very end of process. Then jacked it up a bit too far and cracked another area pretty badly. Still getting cracking and popping of house settling..not sure if it is normal...haven't contacted the business yet about it....

It took about 4 weeks for the work to begin, after which it was completed within 4 business days. The work looks great and closely resembles existing concrete. To explain the B grades: -Email Communication is advertised, and was used to send the quote, but emails sent to the address go unanswered. -Don did better than many other contractors I've worked with at communicating plans, schedules, delays, etc, but there is room for improvement. -Workers arrived later than anticipated on each work day except one. -There is a minor drainage issue with the finished work. After further investigation, I found that it should have been anticipated and that there is a simple and effective way to have properly dealt with it. Being no expert myself, I wasn't aware that it would be an issue, and was relying on Don for that sort of thing, so it is somewhat disappointing. -There were several nail holes put in my vinyl fence where forms were put up. This was completely avoidable had additional care been taken. Other general professionalism improvements could be made. In summary, it may not have been perfect in every aspect, but it wouldn't keep me from doing additional business, and I've already referred him to friends. It is notable that I did not rate the price because I did not take any additional bids and have nothing to compare to, removing a category that many reviewers give A's for from my overall consideration.

If you need concrete work done you would be crazy to not call Don Hedrick at Foundation Doctors. I had given my job to another contractor 3 months prior to contacting Don, and that contractor completely disappeared after that. I hadn't paid them any money so it wasn't a big deal but now we were late into summer and all other contractors were very busy. I called foundation doctors for an estimate and she set up an appointment but it was 1 month out. I assumed I would find someone else and cancel the appointment. I didn't have much luck finding anyone else except for the friend of a friend but it was going to be more expensive than I wanted to pay so I just waited for my appointment. Glad I did, Don showed up on a Saturday morning and we walked through the whole project together. He gave me a verbal estimate and would send me a written estimate in a couple of days, I didn't give him time, I told him I wanted him to do the job. Even though it took a month to get an estimate he would be able to start my job in 2-3 weeks. They started the job on a Monday and began tearing out the old concrete driveway and sidewalk, by Friday they were pouring the front 2/3 of the driveway and the curved sidewalk which is a major improvement over the narrow square sidewalk it replaced. The only major inconvenience we faced was that it took another week to finish the curb cut and pouring 2 more sections of concrete. We were assuming the complete job would take a week but it took 2 complete weeks and then had to let it sit one more week to cure. In Don's defense though it was really a lot more work than I ever anticipated, the curb cut added a large piece to the puzzle as it had to be up to city specifications and inspected by them. Don never told us the job would be done in a week, I guess we just assumed incorrectly. Regardless, the job is done, we are thrilled, the work looks great, the price was better than fair, and I found Don to be a super nice guy that I enjoyed doing business with. Oh and get this, not sure if you have ever had a large concrete job done before (I have had 2) but wait until you see what most concrete guys leave your landscaping looking like. For most contractors that is your problem not theirs. Don and his guys cut the sod and peeled it back before they started then after the concrete was poured the sod was rolled back into place and all other damaged areas were repaired with top soil hauled in, grass seed planted, and straw put down, good luck finding that with someone else! We are very comfortable recommending Don and Foundation Doctors for any of your concrete work.

Everything went great. The new wall looks good and appears to be very well made. We had a minor issue with one of my outdoor lights not working after the work was complete due to a damaged wire, but they came back out and fixed the problem.
Description of Work: They tore down an old railroad tie type retaining wall that was approximately 90 feet long and replaced it with a concrete wall. They hauled away all the wood from the old wall and the extra dirt. They put in drainage tile and rock and filled in the back of the new wall with dirt. They also planted grass seed where the work was done.

When I called this company to arrange for an estimate, the lady who answered was pleasent and said her husband would be the one doing the quotes but it would be 3 weeks before that could happen which would be at noon on June 28th. When the 28th arrived, I received a call at 10:45 am from the person stating he could not make the appointment due to a flat tire on some of his equipment. He suggested a weeknight evening the following week so i choose Wednesday at 5 pm. since he could not make Monday due to his daughter returning from a camp. So at 5:45 pm Wednesday when he still hadn't shown up or called, I called him to find out the status of our appointment. He explained he was very busy on a job and hadn't gotten my number from his wife to call. He then stated that they were running 4- to 6 weeks out on jobs. So I asked if his company was interested in our business to which he replied, " Well we are very busy right now and are about 4-6 weeks out on jobs,so I guess we'll just need to leave it right there" and hung up which I interpreted to mean the obvious. I was and am puzzled as to what really happened with this whole sequence of events since I chose the company over several others based on other reviews

Don was very professional & dependable. He showed up for the estimate at the time he said he would and explained the process from start to finish detailing everything involved. Don made recommendations for the work that was not his specialty. We were concerned about getting this done since we just had new landscaping and curbscape put in the area where the tiling was going in. We were very pleased at how careful they were to not disturb the area any more than he had to. They made sure that everything was cleaned up and put back in its place. They did what they said they would do and showed up when they said they would. That does not happen the majority of the time from our experience. The Foundation Doctors was definitely the right choice for the job!!
Description of Work: Drainage Tile At rear of home, installed 4" perforated tiles under window wells. Extend tile to n-west approximately 60’ to slope of yard for positive drainage from home. All areas that were not to be painted were masked off. I noticed very little dust due to their careful control of vacuuming while grinding. The workers very professional, polite & did a few things for us that wasn't in the contract, i.e. taking softener tank up steps(with hand truck)for us. As a older woman, I felt completely at ease with these employees. Also, I am happy that they took a few extra minutes to explain processes when I questioned them about why or what they were doing. The clean up was very good. While work was in process, I heard very little noise. I would be very happy to recommend this company or to have them back to do further work for us if need.
Description of Work: Refurbish 100 year old basement floor. Ground down damaged cement floor with diamond grinder, patched & leveled areas that were chipped. Further patching & feathering to entire floor to blend in repaired areas. This work was done with an acrylic bonding agent especially used for this type of repair. Floor was then painted with red quikreted brand solid concrete paint.

We have a gravity drain that led to a creek with the outlet designed to be above the 100 year historic level of the creek which was flawless for 13 years. Then we had a storm in June 2013 that was estimated to have been in excess of a 500 year storm level. 8"-9" in 4 hours. Even though that storm would statistically not occur again for at least 499 more years the gravity drain didn't seem like a great idea to us anymore when some water reached our floor drains. We had several companies come out to evaluate a better solution and two suggested an exterior sump pump and check valve so we didn't have to tear up the lower level of our house. I was concerned about the pump freezing. Don said he has installed quite a few of these over the years without a single problem. The sump pit is a little deeper and the lid is bolted on and forms a frost seal. The ground temperature prevents the pump from freezing. Don also suggested we leave the gravity drain intact since it is fail proof (which for us was literally 99.98% correct but only due to one storm in 13 years)...he suggested we install a backwater valve that has a flapper valve which only allows water to go out. Actually, the backwater valve its self should have been enough but we wanted more assurance and wanted the pump as a back up...overkill perhaps but what price is peace of mind? We liked his proposal and had him do an estimate. It was $2000 less than the set up the other company was suggesting, tore up less of our landscaping and was a more elegant solution (less pieces/parts to fail) to boot. Don was there within a week and had the work done in 2 days. We barely knew he was there (other than the arm of his small backhoe visible through our living room window overnight) and he was done and gone. Don took my calls over the course of estimating to install to follow up and was always courteous even though I know I caught him at other worksites while he was working. What I observed working with him was a concerned guy with a seriously strong work ethic. He has a long history of doing foundation work so you know you are not just getting labor you are getting a solution. He values his work as well as his customers concerns and satisfaction. He even provided a longer warranty on the pump as added security. We had one call back when we had a storm and became a little uncertain about how the system was operating. He was eager to be sure we were satisfied and came out to check the system for us. All was fine. He adjusted the sump pump float so if it was needed it would go off a little earlier. I'd use him again in a heartbeat. Thanks Don.
Description of Work: Don installed an exterior sump pump and backwater valve on the gravity drain from our basement.

Initial work was done very professionally and on time. They had to come back as planned to level the trenches they had dug as well as reseed the trench they had created. This work, in my opinion was not done very well. The seeding was skimpy at best and the straw usaed to cover the seeding was poor. I will have to reseed the area this fall, and in the spring.

Before retiring several years ago, I owned a small business and am accustomed to working with outside vendors and contractors. Never, and I say this in all sincerity, never have I been more satisfied with an outside service firm. Don Hedrick, the owner of Foundation Doctor came to the house within a day or two of being called, examined the situation and set down with us at the kitchen table to explain his repair strategy. We received his quote approximately 48 hours later. After getting quotes from several other contractors, we decided to go with Foundation Doctor based on price and their ability to start the project sooner than the others. Recent heavy rains had exacerbated the problem and we need help immediately. The home in question is approximately 100 years old. The foundation was sorely in need of repair in numerous locations. One section however was suffering from major structural damage. The root of the problem grew from the huge maple tree not far from the house. Over the years, it had completely wrapped itself around the southwest corner basement wall. After strategically placing supports under the floor above, Dan and his knowledgeable crew began the arduous task of first removing the two existing walls. I am happy to report; they removed and replaced far more of the walls than I thought I was paying for. Then they tackled the tree roots that were more numerous and thicker than anyone had imagined. They were professional and well prepared. Nothing seemed to surprise them. When confronted with a new problem, they simply went to the truck, got out the tool they needed and went right back to work. The tree never had a chance. Having been in the US Navy in my youth, I would not have been surprised or shocked to hear some "nautical terms" as they encountered surprise after surprise. What surprised me though was that I did not hear these old familiar terms spoken, at least not out loud. Because the problem was in the basement, there was a great deal of foot traffic in and out of the house. Much to my delight they covered the floors with drop cloths and were very conscious of keeping the basement door closed even to the point of reminding me to close the door behind myself when I ventured below to see how things were progressing. The most delightful part of the job was paying the bill. I was charged exactly what the estimate said it would be, not a penny more.

Exceptionally well. Don Hedrick (Owner) is very knowledgeable when it comes to concrete work and waterproofing foundations. To waterproof my foundation, I had estimates starting at $28,000. For all work and materials necessary to accomplish the job, I will be under $8,000 after all is complete. Don and crew worked when they said they would, completed work timely and free of defect, and left my property in a condition that aside from the obvious lines in the grass where he dug trenches, you would never have known it was just excavated. About two weeks after this phase was completed, we had 5 inches of rain in one night causing flooding throughout my area. Even though the job was not completed, the work Don had completed resulted in almost no water in my crawlspace. Had he not done the work he had, I would have most likely taken significant amounts of water under my house. Don did not try to push products or work that was not needed and in fact talk me out of having him do more than was necessary probably saving me a couple thousand in unnecessary work. I can't say enough good things about the Foundation Doctor. I have some projects over the next two years that I have planned that will require someone using heavy equipment. Don will be the only person I call for a bid. I need to look no further.
Description of Work: Ran drain lines for downspouts, installed exterior sump pump pit, plumbed discharge line for sump pump, installed condensation pump unit for A/C, ran underground gravity drain lines to discharge downspouts out to ditch approx 250 feet from house

Well very. Don should rename his company Foundation Surgeons, not Foundation Doctors as he is just that good. His crew had to excavate all around my house. Aside from having to remove much of my landscaping you would never know that two days ago they had dug down 5 feet. The team removed all debris and did minimal damage to my yard. Given they were driving a very heavy back hoe and other equipment, you can now barely tell. Don took the time to reuse the dirt they excavated to fill low spots around my yard and graded it over the best he could given how much it had rained. He did an outstanding job with the rain catcher system and even put me a little concrete curb at the end of the landscaping they had to dig up. He saved as many of my plants as he could and even too the time to replant a bush he had to remove. Each night I took pictures of each phase of the job and showed them to people at work. Others that I know that had to have similar work done all told me their yards were tore up and that the company left waste or debris all over. What I was left with shovel ready to put my landscaping together. I can't say enough good things about Don and will he having him back out next spring to address some drainage on my property and to have some more concrete work done.
Description of Work: Completed second part of waterproofing my foundation. Installed perimeter drain tile in front and back of house, excavated a portion of my driveway that ran along house, installed new driveway rain catching system encased in concrete in front of my garage doors, installed exterior sump pump system to discharge water out to street (200 feet away), installed interior perimeter tile "fingers" to relieve water from inside of my crawlspace and removed old plastic ground covering and debris from inside my crawlspace that was retaining moisture. Too many other small items to list.

I was not pleased. It is the worst job I have ever seen in my life and I have had a lot of cement jobs done before. I told them what I wanted done, they ignored it, and did what they thought was right, which I guess works but did not in my case. They left the part underneath the furnace that was about three foot long and a foot wide. They told me when they left that they didn’t do that part because they found some place secondary for water to drain into the permanent tile even though there were three other drains down there. They didn’t want to get in there because it was too hard. I called them three different times about it, I left a message but they never returned my calls. They said when things get slower, they would come back but if things are picking up for them, I knew I was never going to see them. I knew that I was never going to see them to begin with. They were about four guys and they did what they were told. They gave me the cheapest price and it was an old basement, so I let it go. The price was good for the kind of work that was done, in other words, I got what I paid for. They were pretty punctual before the job, and were late probably once for the job but it wasn’t bad.

Foundation Doctors started within a week of our accepting their bid. They prepared the wall, set up their forms and over a single day poured a whole wall. It was necessary for them to open two holes in the wall to pour the concrete through and by the end these were repaired to a state better than before. They used tarps to limit the tracking in of the outside. They cleaned up thoroughly afterwards. They improved the exterior including adding insulation and returned the soil to its pre-construction state. Final charges were the same as the estimate. We are completely satisfied and now have a substantial wall that should resist further shifting. I would recommend them to others desiring a similar service.
Description of Work: They built and reinforced a basement wall to support one that was leaning in despite it having had anchors inserted about five years ago by another firm whose work was shoddy at best..
