Devries Custom Painting

I called Devries Painting for an estimate, we set an appointment 4:30, Mr Devries called me at 4:30 and said he could not make it untill 8:00 that evening, which wasn't going to work for me. We set another appointment for 6:00 three days later. He called me at 5:30 and said he was running 2 hours late. I told him I would get back with him at a later date. I decided that anyone who could not keep 2 appointments would most likely be very frustrating to work with.

They had to do patch work on the ceiling and walls. They did a perfect job. You couldn't tell the work had been done. They were clean, neat and got the job completed on time.

We contacted Joshua and got an estimate. We negotiated the price. They arrived and moved all that had to be moved and covered all of the furniture with plastic. They then repaired the water damaged as well as a portion of drywall ceiling that other painters said they could not repair. They then caulked everything that needed to be caulked and painted all that we agreed to plus a small 1/2 bath. My opinion is they were great and I would recommend them to anyone.

Joshua and his crew are very professional. They look and act like people who have a passion for their profession. The price they gave me was extremely reasonable for the work performed.

I called him to give me a quote and he gave me a lower price because of the age of the door. He was very nice but also very busy. He showed up and got the work done.

It went very well. I am very satisfied with how things look. He was a very good communicator. We knew when to expect him back, and he called before he came. If he said he was going to be there and couldn't be there close to the time he said, he would call us. There was no mess. There were 3, sometimes 4, people working on the house. They stayed within the estimated price. There was some leeway in the price because of repair work. When there was something he seen that needed repaired he would come inside and get us to take us outside to show us what he was talking about and give us options on how to fix it if there was one. He would quote us a price on the repairs and would only do what we asked him to do.

Devries Painting did an excellent job. The ceiling in the kitchen needed lots of repair, none of the woodwork had been painted before and there were 2 layers of wallpaper in some places. Josh and his painters were thorough, meticulous and accommodating. There were time constraints for the den due to the arrival of furniture and they made sure to finish that room so there were no problems with the delivery.

Excellent work! They did a meticulous job and cleaned up after themselves every day. They even helped us pick out the colors, which we love! Josh checked on things regularly and was very concerned that the job was done perfectly.

At the initial consultation, Joshua came out an assessed the house. He pointed out what would need to be done and gave an estimate. The price was good (significantly lower than the other two estimates I had), and I contracted Devries for the work. His staff was very nice, and initially things looked good. Several months afterwards however, I noticed numerous places where the paint was peeling and chipping away. When I called, Joshua said he would come out and check it out. He did, but at that point, it was too late in the year to repaint, and he said it would be done in the Spring. I didn't hear from him initially and had to call him to remind him to come back out. The painters did come out and repaint. So far things look good, but it was frustrating to have to have it redone at all and to have to call to remind them.

The quality of Joshua's work is excellent. He did run into some staffing problems which delayed the completion date. The previous painter did a very poor paint job. Joshua had to fix many of the past problems. The problems appear to be fixed. Joshua was also very helpful in helping pick colors for my home. I had received many compliments from my neighbors about the paint job.

The experience was extremely positive from start to finish. Josh came out and carefully assessed what needed to be done and provided a very specific estimate, then set up a schedule for completing the work. The project was ultimately completed in less than half the estimated time because a full crew was able to work on the house--which I greatly appreciated since I had to stay home while the work was done. I was encouraged to check everything as the work was being done to make certain that I was satisfied--which I was. Everything was done very carefully--all non-painted surfaces were completely covered or masked, so no paint or stain ended up any surface that wasn't supposed to receive it. This wasn't a huge job, but at no point did I ever feel as though I was receiving anything but top-of-the-line service. In sum, the work was done quickly, efficiently and with painstaking professional attention to detail. Communication before, during and after the project was impeccable. I would not only hire this company again, I would enthusiastically recommend DEVRIES PAINTING to anyone in need of interior or exterior painting work.

Thorough prep work. Showed up and worked when they said they would. Reasonable clean up. Final job quite professional and good looking.

Overall it went really good. They did a great job, the price was reasonable and i would use them again in the future. I think that they were nice and also they came to the job on time.

Devries Painting was a bit more expensive, but he sounds like he is very knowledgeable. He was smart enough to catch that we needed to replace our windows before painting.

Finished in one day to our complete satisfaction.

They did an excellent job. They were very professional and performed at a level I have not seen before. They went above and beyond to make sure that everything was right when they were done. They even had someone check to make sure we didn't have a leak that would effect the paint at no additional cost. They charged a reasonable price and I will use Devries Painting again when needed.

Last month (May 2008), we contracted with Devries Custom Painting to paint the outside of our house. The project took about 4 days which included power-washing the house, re-caulking the windows, siding seams, and nail holes, repairing and priming some damaged areas, and finally and painting the outside of the house to include drain spouts. Joshua, the owner, was on site supervising 95% of the time; he also personally painted the front entry way. His paint crew, consisting of 3-4 other experienced painters, worked well as a team, moving methodically around the house ensuring an even coat of paint was applied regardless of the height or angle to be painted. The team arrived on time and worked diligently with minimal breaks. They were careful of the landscaping and cleaned up well each day. Drop cloths were used where needed. When the job was completed, it was, in my opinion, perfect. When I paint the inside next year, I know who I am calling Joshua Devries Custom Painting.

It went just great. Joshua came out to give the quote - he was very detailed, very professional, showed that he was a great communicator. He described what his team would do at my house, very clearly, so I knew exactly what to expect. I did get other quotes, his was on the higher end but I felt that he would do an outstanding job and that is money well spent. Once his crew came out, they did exactly what he said they would do. I found them also to be very professional, detail oriented and strived for customer satisfaction. We did have to have some rotted wood replaced (that is reflected in the total price I gave above). All around they did a great job. They keep the work site neat as they went and other than a nicely painted house, there is no trace that they were here. We walked around the house several times together as the project progressed, they wanted to make sure I knew exactly what they were doing, make sure I knew and agreed to the wood that needed to be replaced, and to make sure that they were meeting my expectations. I would recommend them to anyone and would gladly use them again.

It was 100%, this was a very polite crew. They were on time and did a wonderful job. They did a good job of preparing the house for painting.

Josh came out and met with both my husband and I, explained the process he would use--powerwash, repair any rotted wood, replaced boards that were soft, repair small imperfections, then apply primer and paint. The scope of the work was more involved than expected due to rotten window frames on five windows but his crew was able to repair the windows so we won't have to replace them (saving us thousands of dollars down the road). This added to the overall cost of the job, but Josh had told us what the extra costs would be on an hourly basis before we signed the contract with him. Also, Josh recommended a darker shade of gray than was on the house and we went with his recommendation. It looks GREAT! My only complaint is that the crew left the gate to the backyard open. I brought it to their attention but it happened a second time and both of our dogs got out of the yard. Other than that, everything went really well and they did a good job of cleaning up before they left.

Travis took special care in letter layers dry each step of the way. He wanted to make sure our paint peeling problem would never happen again and took special care to do the job right. Their estimate and cost was $450, but he did such a good job, that I gave him an extra $25. I was thrilled with the quality of the work and would use their company again in a heartbeat!

The price was great, the quality of the work was great and they were very prompt every day. They were also clean and did some touch up jobs without charging us. They do other services so I won't hesitate to use them again.
