Devries Custom Painting

We had collected estimates from 3 companies and selected Joshua because his price was competitive but more importantly, he was very detailed in walking through the home, identifying areas of concern and describing in detail how he would perform the work. He had a team of workers and estimated 5-7 days to complete the work whereas other estimates were 10-15 days. When it was time to begin work Joshua and his men arrived on time, prepared the area to begin removing the wallpaper focusing on the lower level before moving upstairs. They placed drop cloths on the carpet and covered furniture with plastic and sealed off They removed paper in all areas (some areas had 2 layers of paper) in 2 days and began to prep surfaces. At the end of every day the men cleaned up after themselves including vaccuming for dust. Walls smoothed and primed in 1.5 days. Painted all surfaces in 1.5 days. The entire job was completed in 5 days. Joshua was on-site at 7:30am everyday and the crew broke for the day by 7:30pm. At every step in the process Joshua explained what he was doing and checked to see if there were any concerns or questions. We have used another company in the past and not been satisfied. I wish I had learned of Devries painting earlier. They were a pleasure to work with. I will use them again for all my painting projects.

DeVries was superior in all respects. He provided a timely, quality job at a great price. He stayed to complete all my requests, included repairs, replacing screens, shutting windows, cleaning up. He repaired ruined wood trim and made the home look super as we put it on the market for sale.

Joshua came out in his lunch break to give us an estimate. He was very knowledgeable and personable and I am sure he would have done a good job. We decided to go with another company on Angie's List simply based on price alone, whose estimate was about half of Devries. However we would contact him again for other paint jobs.

I was very satisfied with the work. One of the walls is wood and had some rotting in it. They had to replace the whole wall. He had a carpenter come and replace the whole wall and water-proofed it.

The work was done very professionally and finished on time. I would highly recommend Devries Custom Painting to anyone!

Excellent! They repaired walls prior to painting. Very tidy and very good job. Would definitely recommend them and use them again.

Joshua provided an estimate and timeline when the project would begin. His estimate included the paint. He was very prompt and professional. He returned the day after the project was completed for any touchups that may be needed. He works at a fast pace yet he is very meticulous. He was forthcoming in providing suggestions of color based on his 20 yr experience in the field of painting as I have little "fashion sense" in decorating. The color selections turned out better than was expected. He always cleaned up after each paint session.

We had a great experience! Joshua DeVries (the owner) was present each day and did the work himself along with 2 other painters. I felt very comfortable with them in my home. They were quiet and diligent and punctual - they focused on their work and did not socialize with each other or us and got their work done. Mr. DeVries was very conscientious of making sure that he met our expectations in terms of quality and time frame. He showed a lot of knowledge about the technical aspects of painting. He understands the different types of paint, what type of paint works well in different areas of the home and what type of paint hides imperfections in the drywall for example. The edges of the walls and woodwork were very crisp and clean - nice quality. He was very flexible when I asked to add a room to the list of work to be performed. He wanted to make sure we were happy with the end result and had us inspect everything with every intention of correcting anything that I saw. We will definitely use him again!

We called Josh in late September. He let us know upfront that he probably wouldn't be able to get to our house this fall, and so we still had him come out for an estimate and get in line in the spring. However about 3 weeks later, Josh called back and said after looking at the weather, he would be out to pressure wash on the Friday before Halloween and would paint the Monday following. True to his word, he and one of his crew pressure washed the house in the cold rain that Friday and was finished painting on the Tuesday after Halloween. He even let my daughter help him paint our mailbox post with remaining paint at the end of the job. Josh was present during every moment of the job even when he had a family emergency, and his crew were extremely polite and on task. This was the 2nd house Josh has worked on for us, and he was even more meticulous than the first time. It was a pleasure getting to work with Josh again and see how his business has grown in 5 years. Super nice person, and he works hard to maintain an extremely successful business.

Very well. There did turn out to be extra cost for wood repair but I was expecting that. Josh is very nice to work with. He goes out of his way to be helpful, and is full of enthusiasm and ideas.

He always goes above and beyond what I expect of a painter. When he painted the downstairs he vacuumed and put all of the furniture back when he was finished. I have probably spent about five thousand dollars with him so far.

The whole process went really well.? I was informed every step of the way.? Nothing was a surprise.? Everything that I was told would happen, did.

Everything went extremely well. Work was done on a Sunday late morning/early afternoon to accommodate my difficult schedule, which was greatly appreciated. Josh always does a careful, detail attentive job and this experience was no exception.

Josh, the owner of Devries Painting, was very accommodating. Explained what he was doing and why as he progressed. He painted minor extra things at no charge that were not in the agreement. He offered to paint the two car garage door at no charge. He runs a great crew. Everyone knew what and how to do everything. Each one of them was very professional. Each one seemed to work independently yet as a team. I was very impressed. Each one seemed to be very conciencious in their workmanship.

Approximately four weeks before the job, Josh Devries of Devries Painting came to our home, listened attentively to what we were wanting to do, and offered constructive suggestions for making our home 'look brand-new' - including his professional opinion on color selection and experience on what would be most appealing to potential buyers. He told us up front that we would have to wait for a few weeks for him to get to us on his list. It was more than worth the wait!! When he and his crew were done (Did I mention that they did it all in ONE day?!), our home, indeed did look ' brand-new'! We still sit and look at our rooms and enjoy the results! Everyone who has come into our home since comments on how much it has improved the 'feel' even though they thought the house looked great before. Thank you, Josh! It is WONDERFUL to have had such an experience and we look forward to the opportunity to work with Josh again in the future.

I already know how wonderful he is, so didn't hesitate to call him again. He returned my call right away, came to my house quickly, gave me an estimate right away. He even called to say he would be 10 minutes late. He is unbelievably neat, a complete perfectionist, always professional and was willing to work around our schedule in every way possible. I have stopped getting estimates from others because he has consistently given me the lowest bid each and every time. I also appreciate how kind he is to the staff that work with him. Joshua is always on site and doing the painting right along with the others. He always does a walk through afterwards to be sure we don't see any need for touch ups. Then, he always does a f/u call a week or two later to be sure we are still happy.

Great. This is the second time we have used Josh. He communicates very well and goes above and beyond what we normally expect from a contractor. He suggested a color scheme for us and we went with it...looks great. He did a tremendous amount of repair work to some windows and sun room doors that will make them last several years longer than they normally would due to wood rot, etc.

Joshua responded quickly to our request for a quote and provided the quote in a timely manner. He kept us informed of timing for the work to begin. He worked closely with us to ensure we chose a paint color that we liked and was adaptable when we decided 1/4 into the painting of the house that we did not like the color we originally chose. He also explained what he would do to prep the house for painting and the rationale for prep activities.

They were very professional and punctual. Joshua was very concerned that I was happy with the work being performed and had me check things over several times during the process. They cleaned up at the end of each day. Several days after the completion of the the job, Joshua called to inquire if everything was satisfactory and if I found anything that was not, he said to call him and he would return to correct. The work exceeded my expectations which says a lot because I am a perfectionist. I plan to have him do more work for us.

Joshua from Devries Painting was extremely professional from start to finish and completed the job exactly as promised, in a reasonable amount of time, and in line with the estimate he provided. I used Angie's List to select several exterior painting providers with excellent reviews on this site. Of the three whom I invited for estimates, Joshua left the best impression on me during the initial visit. I appreciated his professional demeanor and detailed explanation of the work he would perform and the approach he would take with my home. Joshua clearly takes pride in his work and his plan for success clearly involves doing his best for each and every client not just rushing through a job for a paycheck. In addition to these impressions, Joshua's quote also turned out to be the lowest of the three I received. When the time came for the work to begin, Joshua was very clear about when he would be able to begin work and how he would plan his time around the weather. He was sure to review with me the quote we had agreed on, and was very good to show me the top quality products he would use for the job. Joshua did a great job managing his crew and they worked quickly and effectively to both clean, prep, calk and paint as discussed. The results are great and we couldn't be happier with the work as it was completed. I would not hesitate to recommend Devries Painting to any of our friends or neighbors and will likely use Joshua for other work in the future.

He was very professional, but pricey. He did call to follow up with us which was appreicated. We ended up using someone else, but would recommend this company to others.

The job went really well. Throughout the process, from estimation to execution, we found Joshua to be very knowledgeable and communicative. He was very good about presenting various alternatives and explaining the cost/benefit of each. We were very encouraged by the fact that he would also be onsite throughout the job. The job was ultimately done by Joshua and his three other employees. They did an excellent job of moving stuff out of the way and then sealing off the work area. The floor from entrance to the work area was also covered with plastic so we didn't have to worry about dirt being constantly conveyed from outside into our home. The measures they took to keep our house clean were extremely important to us. The wooden trims that run along the bottom of the walls throughout our home are starting to look rundown so we wanted to get a sense of what it would take to renew them. Joshua offered the options of either painting or staining them. To demonstrate how the trims would look after they had been stained and polished Joshua decided to stain the trim that runs along the stairs to the 1st floor. The trim is of decent length but Joshua stained it free of charge. We were impressed with his work and plan on getting the floor trims all over the house fixed in the near future. We had recently had the exterior of our house painted, but forgotten then to take care of the peeling mail-box post. I asked Joshua how much he would charge to paint the post. Joshua offered to take care of it free of charge as a courtesy to us. All in all we found Joshua to be one of those rare contractors who don't nickel and dime their customers. He truly believes that quality of work and long term relationships far outweigh the short-term instinct of squeezing every dime out of a customer. One wishes more contractors followed this common sense yet rarely appreciated principle.

With the weather being unpredicatable, Joshua was fantastic with staying in touch with us to inform us of the schedule and when they would come out for the power washing, prep work, etc. He then called to discuss optimal timing for the painting based on the weather, etc. When we finally had a window of great weather, his crew (all very professional) came out, moved and replaced all our plants from the deck and did a fantastic job. At each step they were very service oriented willing to go the extra mile...for instance during the final walk through we both noticed that the light pole in the yard and mail box were not painted (we hadn't talked about including these specifically in the estimate) but without any negotiation, Joshua had his guys paint these items. He also had his crew come back a few days later after the deck paint dried to replace all our plants on the deck. Needless to say, we couldn't have been happier with their work and the finished results!

Joshua has done interior and exterior work for us in the past that we have been very pleased with. This job was more of the same. The interior work was performed on schedule to Joshua's high standards with excellent results. The exterior work had to be performed around inclement weather conditions. We were kept informed of progress and schedules throughout the process. The deck presented a little extra challenge due to the type of paint that was previously used on it. Joshua and his crew kept after it getting it stripped down and cleaned up before staining it. Same as the interior work, the results on the deck and other exterior areas are excellent.
