Trying to find a handyman in the Muncie, IN area is a real drag. I was desperate for someone originally to put to put a desk together for me. Thankfully, I found All Things Done. He put my desk together in no time and I asked him what other services he does and when I found out he did painting and plumbing I hired him for those jobs too. He installed a garbage disposal and painted. Troy Baine's company All Things Done is a delight to deal with. He assessed what I needed and gave me straightforward answers to all my questions. He is friendly, respectful and trustworthy. More importantly, the work he did was of top quality. Fast service. I recommend him highly for anyone in the Muncie area looking for someone who is reliable and competent and PROFESSIONAL. Yes, I am very happy. If you need a general contractor contact him.

As I say, when the leak took place in our laundry room, we brought in Troy Bain and his company. He quickly fixed the pipes, filled in the hole, and created a beautiful new tile floor in the laundry room and adjoining bathroom. Then, during the long period that the condo association resisted paying for the rest of the interior work we needed done, Troy continued to advise us. At the point when the condo association did at least request bids, Troy submitted the one that was most reasonable. After the lawsuit finally was settled, my wife and I hired Troy to do the massive amount of remaining work. We then left town for three-and-a-half weeks in order to give him and his assistant time to do most of that work without our being in their way. The two of them did a great deal of plaster work, painting, rebuilding of walls, investigation and fixing of leaks, repairing of floors, and much more. They also replaced our front door and repositioned it and some of our interior doors as well. All of that took just over four weeks (the time we were away plus several additional days), and when they were done, our home was essentially reborn. We cannot begin to describe what a massive job this was, yet Troy found ways of dealing with every single problem. Without hesitation, we can attest to the fact that Troy is a master of many crafts, as well as a true artist with plaster, paint, tile, drywall, and more. He also is extremely conscientious. At any rate, once Troy had completed all of the aforementioned tasks, my wife asked him to do some additional plumbing work and to replace all of the cabinet handles and hinges in our kitchen and upstairs bathroom. That work, too, was beautifully and effectively done for just a small additional fee, with the total charges still well under what all other contractors had bid just for doing the most basic initial work needed. In summary, we cannot recommend Troy Bain and his company All Things Done, Inc. highly enough!!! In the future, we will not even consider using a different contractor.
Description of Work: Several years ago, the foundation of our condo started sinking. Eventually, our condo association agreed to pay to fortify the foundation, but they refused to repair all the damage inside our home that the sinking had caused. It took a few years and a lawsuit finally to get them to do the right thing. Throughout that process, Troy Bain of All Things Done, Inc. stood by us. When the foundation work by others necessitated holes dug in our garage and laundry room, the one in the laundry room resulted in broken water pipes and smashed flooring. In the rest of the condo, due to the sinking foundation, we had extensive cracks in walls and floors, falling plaster, separating walls, doors that would no longer close, a water leak in the living room ceiling, and creaking floors around much of the first floor. We truly had a mess on our hands and needed a contractor we could trust to give us good advice and do great work.

They did not measure the rail properly and installed one that was too short, thus the door will not function properly. The door will not open all the way and lets water in. The door is on an 8x8 track and should have had an 8 foot rail on the opposite side. That is why the door will not open all the way. The door would not close properly, either. It is letting water in. He also left a pin inside the motor that would have burnt up the new unit if a different service provider had not found it. Also, the chain was too loose. Basically, everything was done incorrectly.
Description of Work: He improperly fixed a garage door.

Troy has worked on multiple projects for me and has done an amazing job. There are 3 projects that were pretty major. He found a pipe that had expanded and broken in the bathroom wall behind the tub. One of the parts for the pipe wasn't standard and didn't even exist in the right size. Troy actually went home that night and made the part which is very impressive. I would have had to pay anyone else around $5000 to break all the concrete under the tub and redo the bathroom floor just to replace the pipes. He also did an excellent job rewiring 2 electrical boxes for me which looked like spaghetti to start with. In completing the wiring in one found a challenge he made me aware of. There was an area where water was dripping in through an outside wall and the problems could have been substantial and could have caused additional problems including mold. He made me aware and advised what would need to be done and is finishing that project as we speak. Troy has also installed track lighting, mounted a microwave, fixed my garage doors, installed all new faucets, cleaned my gutters and too many things to mention. I am so happy I found him and he will continue to do any work I need to have done.
Description of Work: Troy has been a lifesaver for me. I purchased a foreclosure and experienced many "surprises" when it came to repairs. He has done multiple projects and his quality of work is impeccable. He asks questions and listens and makes me aware of anything that needs attention. He can do anything from building to electrical and plumbing and his service is worth alot more than what he charges. He's not a typical handyman, but a contractor who gives quality and saves me alot of money at the same time.

We were pleased with the results, and Troy was able to take on the project with fairly short notice at a busy time of the year. He also noticed that roofers who worked on the roof for the previous owners didn't notice/fix the true cause of the leak that caused a soft spot on the roof, and he fixed that. The area where he took out the wall looks really great, as do the lights he installed. Troy was very busy and often headed to another project, but this is probably the norm for contractors, and he was usually pretty good about communicating about the schedule.

Troy was extremely responsive when first contacted. He was helpful on the detailed list at hand and knew we were on a tight schedule with getting our house closed (we were the seller). Troy even worked with our realtor to ensure that all of the items were completed as requested and on time. Troy was the ultimate professional and believe me it wasn't always easy with the personalities involved! His pricing was extremely reasonable too! It is very refreshing to see this nowadays!

Troy was able to get us on his schedule in a couple of days so we could meet the requirements of our home sales contract. In addition to fixing the items listed, he was able to help us document to the buyer why a large electrical expense was not required because it was grandfathered under the local code. Our home passed the follow up inspection and our home sale went through as scheduled.

Our washer and dryer were in 2 different locations on the house, and we wanted a stackable system where the current washer is located - but there was not a 240V outlet there. They connected a new line to the electric utility box and ran it to the closet. They were initially going to also put a vent in that closet for the dryer - but we ended up getting a ventless condensing dryer, so that was unnecessary. We also had a ceiling vent fan/light installed in our bathroom. They installed in ceiling and vented out through roof. They encountered some bad/wrong wiring and worked to fix the issue, at no additional charge. Troy and his helper also helped me stack the washer/dryer and place it in the closet - which was no easy task...it is a small closet! They were very courteous and honest. The only minor issue was it took them a little longer to get to us due to another job that set them behind schedule, but were very good at keeping us up to date on when they would be coming.

We have waited and waited for an estimate. At this point, we have turned to two other contractors to provide the work for us. Troy never gave us an estimate, and despite my husband's repeated calls, he never did communicate with us regarding possible estimate. Not sure if he found a better job somewhere else, or too far away... we would have liked to just know for sure instead of putting off work to be done while waiting. We liked him and felt he had a good background and he provided examples of past work. Not questioning work ethic or quality, as we did not see that firsthand, but as far as communication goes, very poor results.
Description of Work: Owner Troy came to see our home and give estimate over the summer. While in the home, he was pleasant and gave suggestions as to what types of solutions he could offer for our problems. He seemed extremely helpful and ready to provide what we needed. He left after checking out the job, telling us he would provide an estimate of all the jobs within a few weeks.

Troy saved us. Previously before him, another contractor had done a bad job which caused our tub to crack and cause water damage. Troy saved us because he went to school for this and is very knowledgeable. He was able to show us what the other contractor did wrong and why our tub cracked, and what led to our water damage below the tub. Because of troy's knowledge, our tub was now installed right--and he did it efficiently in a quick time frame. He also is friendly, but doesn't talk your ear off (what I mean by that is that I have met other various contractors who just stand there and talk and talk, and then they don't get the work done). Troy is not like that. He will talk to you, but he also works while he talks so the job still gets done. He is also trustworthy and will go the extra mile to help. We had bought the wrong product from Lowe's and Troy was nice enough to return it, get the right product we needed and bring back the refund change. We plan to use him again for future projects. I wish all contractors were as good as him. A++++

This is actually the 2nd time we have had Troy do work for us. The first time, he did an amazing job installing slate stacked stone on our fireplace. When he was there completing the job, we asked if he did electrical work and he said yes, so we hired him again. He's always very punctual and even texts us when he is on his way to the job. He's very professional and courteous as well. We didn't have the correct switches for some of our outlets (we had previously purchased them and thought we had the correct ones for the job) and Troy drove to our local hardware store to pick up parts without hesitation and then drove to Lowes in Muncie for switches that our local hardware store didn't carry. He went out of his way to finish the job that day which was really appreciated. He also found some wiring that wasn't up to code while updating our switches and fixed that as well. We will definitely be using him again in the future! Highly recommend!

Troy's work is top-notch. He has worked diligently at both projects, often in adverse conditions. We moved early this summer to downsize, and have had many contractors working inside and outside our house. I've been frustrated by crews that say they'll be there and show up a week late, only because I hounded them each evening. When Troy says he's going to be there, he shows up at 8 AM and leaves at 5 PM. He always cleans up the work area each evening, to the point where if you didn't know there was work going on, you'd be hard-pressed to find it. He sat down with me and explained the estimate he produced for the first project, right down to the materials he was going to use. After he'd been working for several days, we found out that there were circumstances (he was going to have to cut through an old roof that'd been covered in the attic in order to run power to lights in the two new rooms) that were going to increase the amount of hours and supplies he'd estimated. He was very reluctant to change the initial estimate, but again, we sat down and talked about it. In the end, we agreed on a very modest increase, that importantly was still well below all of the other estimates. He was always polite to me, my children, and especially to my wife--which is very important to me! He was patient with requests to change or alter designs. Several of my friends are contractors, and I've listened to them complain about the client who constantly changes orders. Troy was extremely patient in that regard, I think because he feels like he's a partner in the process, and so ideas that will result in a final product that makes his clients happy don't bother him so much. He agreed to an order change when my wife thought to use bead board for the walls instead of dry wall; Troy also had to add insulation after that change. We trusted him to work alone--unlike some other contractors, Troy could work without having supervision. An example of how much I trusted him: He brought a huge load of wood for the deck in his truck, and rather than unloading it all at my house, I loaned him my truck for the evening and he left me the keys for his, in case I had to go somewhere or we had to move his truck in the driveway. Of all the contractors we have hired with this move, Troy is one of the two best I have ever worked with. (The other was the firm that cut and trimmed our trees) His was by far the least expensive of the bids we got for each of the projects, but even if he had cost the same as other contractors, I would have gone with him had I known how good his work is.
Description of Work: Troy has been working with us for about a month and a half. He still has a few days left, putting finishing touches on the deck in our back yard. He has worked on two major projects: He built an interior wall, turning one large room into two medium-sized rooms. We liked his work so much that we hired him for the next large project we were tackling this summer--constructing a large deck in our back yard. Each of these major projects involved many extra projects. On the wall: He ran wire up into and through the attic. He had to cut several holes in an old pre-existing roof--it was nasty work on a very hot day, and he did it without any complaint. He built two closets, each with a different type of shelving, trimmed out the entire wall with an attractive molding. He ran wire for two new ceiling lights and moved another. On the deck: He built a "box" around the A.C. unit that's encompassed by the deck. He let us know about the insurance regulations regarding steps and rails. He made an access panel for a spigot that sits under the deck (if you didn't know where to look, you'd never see it!) ----I know I am forgetting many of the little "extras" that make Troy's work so special.

Utility room was painted first so Troy could check after finishing the attic for any missed spots. It looks great after a fresh coat of paint. Attic appears to have been covered well with additional insulation. Job was done within a week of the estimate. Troy and his helper were here early and finished the job in one day. They cleaned up the loose insulation on the garage floor when done.
Description of Work: Added 6 inches of blown-in insulation to my attic and painted utility room. Troy also moved my washer and dryer out to the garage and changed a stove pipe in the attic.
