Kitchen and Bathroom Remodel
This company ended up subcontracting to another company by the name of John Metzger Construction, they ended up doing the work on my bathroom. The subcontractor was never paid and work was suspended due to this. I ended up having my bathroom remodel completed by another service provider. The Home Improvement Specialists claims they never saw our contract or received payment so a fraud case has been filed.

Demolition on first bathroom was began on Wednesday, March 11, 2015.   Both bathrooms were estimated to take 6-8 weeks.  Walls were re-framed by that Friday.  Those three days, workers were there every morning at 7:30 and worked til 5 or 6.  The next week, no one showed up Monday morning and it took two phone calls to find out that supplies were not in .  It was 7 working days until work began again.  I did not know from day to day when workers would be there,  IF they would be there that day or how long they would work that day.  Progress was very slow and then I found out that the man in charge of the worksite was a subcontractor.  Conversations with Mike Hoag (who I was lead to believe was the owner) assured me that he would take care of the delays and get things done.   It has now been over 15 weeks and the first bathroom is not done and work is at a stand still until the several issues are resolved..  I am getting conflicting stories from all parties involved.  As of last week, what I have been told is:

1. The secretary at the office of Home Improvement Specialists(HIS) tells me that Mike Hoag was a contractor - not the owner- with the company but is no working there....They have no record of my contract with them.....They have not received any payments from me.

 2.  The sub-contractor has not gotten paid for work or supplies for our job.  He says he was told to place a lien on our house, which is what he intends to do,  because they(HIS) do not intend on paying him, .

3.  Copies of Checks written to Home Improvement Specialists shows were they hand endorsed to the same and deposited into a bank account, but again, they claim not to have received any money.

So until I receive proof that all who have worked on our project have been paid,  work will remain stopped.

I would definitely check insurance, references and bonding before hiring anyone (which I did not).  And I would steer clear of this company.

They didn't do anything.  Came out and looked at what we wanted done and they seemed great.  Then when we called them to check on status of bid and when the electrician was going to come out to see what exactly needed to be done, they acted like they didn't even know who we were.  Never heard back from them at all.  Very disappointed.

Very poorly.  The garage ended up looking like a patch work quilt.  Tried to get satisfaction through the BBB to no avail.

The roofing crew was fine. They got a little rough when tossing off the shingles, but overall they did well. They have taken 11 days to put on siding, which would have taken me 3 days to put up. They stole material from me and overall it has been a nightmare.
did come back and clean the siding and do a good job cleaning up. I believe Mr. Hoag over-reached on the number of jobs his company could handle at one time and made some judgement errors on the subcontractors but in the end the work is good and im satisfied.
