+ -1 moreOur technician was very friendly and arrived on time. He gave us a quote for a one time treatment and one for their gold annual program. We chose the one time treatment and he did not pressure us to join their continuous program. Since we haven't seen many creepy crawlies over the fall and winter months, I would say that Varment Guard's one time application did the trick for us!
Description of Work: Treated our house for miscellaneous crawling bugs (especially those ones with a million legs that run very fast)!

+ -1 moreFor both efforts, workers arrived when scheduled. We haven't had a problem with ants since that work was completed ( 4 months ago). The spots that we're aware of that birds can nest in our house are now are now protected. I like birds, but I don't want them nesting in my house.
Description of Work: Removed bird nesting material from 2nd story soffit ends. Disinfected and deodorized the area. Installed flashing at both soffit ends, secured with screws and caulk. Installed hardware cloth at 4 bath/dryer vents on the side of the house to prevent birds from nesting there. We had problem with a large ant colony in one of the mulch beds. We dug in the ground to install plants and it was like an ant volcano. Treat perimeter of home for general pest management. Target field ants at right side of foundation. Treatment includes field, honey, pavement ants, millipedes, earwigs, pill & sow bugs, and spiders.

+ 0 moreTroy came out for the initial estimate. He was very helpful and informative. Varment Guard set traps for the groundhogs for about a month, but only caught raccoons and possums. I had planned to install their buried wire, but changed my mind b/c they couldn't install it the way I wanted, so I did it myself. They also got me on their Total Gold Pest Mgmt Spraying Program to kill everything from mice to spiders. I love it. I find these big hairy wood spiders laying dead on my porch and I know that the Varment Guard spray killed them. I almost want to spray more often just to make sure none get through. I haven't seen a mouse in the 9 months I've lived in my 100 year old house in the woods. I recommend the Gold Pest Mgmt Spray to anyone who has insects. I will probably have VG back out to remove bats in the attic soon.
Description of Work: Trap groundhogs digging into my porch and crawlspace ($250), quarterly spray for insect control ($240 first, then $122).

+ -1 moreThe initial assessment was for mice. The tech found one area she was concerned with. She pointed out the area so I could solve the problem on my own. She did not charge me for that. As we were walking around the house she noticed an indication of carpenter ants. We contracted with them to take care of this problem. I have since then continued to have a mouse problem and that they come back out. They didn't think they could prevent mice from coming in after doing their initial assessment. They did come out on my request to re asses the issue. They made a couple other suggestions on things I could do. She couldn't find anything new since her first visit. The whole time they were on time and professional. Thorough in their work and great about pointing things out to me. I really appreciated them not charging me for having to come back out. If I should have a problem with the ants, I have a warranty for a year for them to re treat my home.
Description of Work: We called them out b/c we were having problems with mice. We were also concerned about carpenter ants.

+ -1 moreI called this company to schedule an appointment for an estimate for bat exclusion in our attic. Although their website and the description on this site says 'no travel charges' and 'free evaluation', they said there would be a non-refundable $89 charge just to come out and give us an estimate, and they would not schedule any work without the estimate. (We do live within the service area shown on their website). I called back to clarify that this charge was not applied to the bill if work was performed. I was told that it would not be and that it was just a flat charge to cover fuel, cell phones, and other costs. I promptly canceled the appointment.

+ -1 moreI called at 5:55 pm as they were closing for the day and as promised someone called me first thing in the morning to discuss my issue. I had an exterminator at the house at 5:30 as they were nice enough to accommodate my work schedule. He re-baited all the previous baits and looked for points of entry. He looked in the basement and all around the 1st floor for signs of activity, then added additional baits for an areas of frequent activity.
Description of Work: Overnight I noticed some mice droppings and knew the mice were back, so I immediately called Varment Guard since they helped me last time with the mice and Carpenter ants.

+ -1 moreI called on a Monday morning after noticing a smelling in my laundry room over the weekend. They were not able to come until Tuesday afternoon but came promptly as scheduled. My dryer vent is over 40 feet long with several 90 degree turns. They had a new piece of equipment - a flexible brush over 30 feet long that they fed through the pipe but unfortunately were unable to reach the mouse. They then went into the crawl space and took apart the dryer vent at a joint and removed the dead animal. Then they sprayed a disinfectant through the whole pipe and covered the outdoor dryer vent with a screen to prevent any other animals from entering. Everything was cleaned up when they left and they reconnected my dryer vent to my dryer. I wish they could have come sooner but when they came they did a quality job. They were there about an hour.

+ -1 moreOf note, the Service Manager called me back as soon as I drafted this, left me a voice mail... I did not call her back. I'm done making phone calls to this company for them to tell me that "this time of year, we are very busy and moving as fast as humanly possible". Perhaps Varment Guard should begin to give clients the information that they are short staffed and that proposed and accepted work will not get done for 2 weeks, so the customer can make an informed decision, if they want to use this company!
Description of Work: Very bad service!! I received a quote for bat removal, roof repair to prevent future infestations, etc on 5/31. I approved the work and sent back the same day. Was told a rep would be calling to set up service. The next Monday, I had not heard from them, so I called. Was told that they were "short staffed" and would be calling me by the end of the week to set up service. I specifically told them that I had two small children in the house and that I wanted this job completed ASAP, they assured me it would. End of the week came and went and I had to place YET ANOTHER phone call to them yesterday. The person paged the service manager and I was advised that I would receive a phone call, which as of 10am today, I have not. I should not have to make 3 PHONE CALLS to a service provider to set up service, where they should have called ME to do so. I would never recommmend Varment Guard to anyone. I also am adding commentary to Olde Towne East community posting board about this company.

+ -1 moreThe birds were already out of the vent. The gentleman cleaned, sanitized and secured the vent. The gentleman was very nice and did a good job, but was extremely late. Our scheduled/confirmed appointment window time was from 11am - 1pm. When he didn't show my husband called in and we were told he would be there by 5 pm. Once again he didn't show but when we called he said he would be there around 7 pm. This is when he arrived. The vent flap is now broken and has fallen off (and apparently flew away because it is gone), but we are not sure that the damage was done by this service or not.
Description of Work: We had birds make a nest in a second story bathroom vent that had lost its screen. We hired Varmet Guard to remove the birds, clean and sanitize the vent and then install a new screen to keep them out.

+ -1 moreThey were pretty easy to work with. They originally wanted 400, and I told him I wasn't working and they did a one time thing and knocked it down to 200. Because they didn't call me back when they were supposed to they gave a 60 day warranty instead of 30 day.

I signed up for the quarterly program which ensures that they will check on the insect/mice problem all year. Jeff, the initial contact, was friendly and patient when asked all the many questions that my husband and I had. This company was less expensive than others I consulted. They did the tubular baiting system for the termites which I believe is less dangerous than the termador spray system to my pet dog.

+ -1 moreWhen the tech arrived he took a look at the whole house and found that we had wasps also entering our window frames and building another nest on another peak of our house. We even had a nest forming in the peak of our mailbox. They quoted us a modestly higher price (as shown above) to treat the whole house. This came with a season long guarantee. You could see the wasps swarming out once he started spraying - it was absolutely the best decision to treat the whole house!!!
