+ -1 moreWe started using them 3 years ago when we had a mouse issue in our basement. Varment Guard was able to get rid of the mice and we haven't seen one since. They are very courteous, prompt, have great communication. I cannot say enough good things about them.

+ -1 moreIt's been over a week, and no further sign of the pests has materialized, so I have to assume they've been eliminated. I'm being careful, though, to avoid leaving out food overnight so as not to cause any new difficulties. Both Anita and Mark said to call again if we have any problems. I've had Varment Guard out here on previous occasions for insect infestations and was always very pleased with their services. They are a good, responsive company.
Description of Work: Anita came out first to survey our home and give us our options. She was very helpful, friendly and professional. She determined that we did have mice and even plugged up two obvious holes, free of charge. The actual technician, Mark King came out the following week and checked the entire house, inside and out, to make sure nothing had been overlooked. He set traps in the appropriate locations and advised us what to look for. He was also very friendly, helpful and professional.

+ 0 moreVarmit Guard - we are breaking up. I have used this company 4 times since 2004 for various animals in the gutters/roof area of my 3rd floor Victorian. I called them this time for squirrels in my gutter (the second time in 6 years I've had this trouble). The phone call to the company was cordial and professional - but the service visit was beyond terrible. The service call was on Oct. 18. He glanced up at the area, saying there was no way they could get ladder access to our roof. I pointed out their company had done it 4 times before - as have roofers and gutter cleaners. He left after about 5 minutes saying he'd send someone out to view the area for ladder access and follow up. On Oct. 28, I followed up with the office because I had heard NOTHING. Again, courteous office. She had no record in the computer regarding my service call, other than that I was on the route. She promised to follow up by the end of the afternoon. As of today, November 3, I have heard NOTHING back from them. Bye bye Varmit Guard. I'm moving on.
Description of Work: Varmit Guard came out for a evaluation on Oct. 18. Twelve business days later I have not heard back from them as I specifically requested. Even though I called to check on the status of the matter on Oct. 28.

+ -1 moreWe had a strange pile of debris on a window sill and were concerned about possible termites. I called Varment Guard and it was suggested that I bring in the debris before having someone come out. I showed the debris to Chris and he took a look at it under a microscope. It was determined to be 'pavement ants', which are non-damaging and harmless. He was very professional and explained things clearly. Suggested I buy typical ant bait to take care of the problem. I so appreciate the honesty and great customer service. From the second I walked in the door, I was impressed by the attentiveness of the staff. Thanks so much! Hopefully, we won't need you in the future, but if we do, I know who I'll call!

+ -1 moreThey put bait around for the mice and closed out some problem areas in the attics. We had to lean on them for awhile to get it taken care of. We had to talk them into putting the bait in the right areas. But, it ended up working out.

+ -1 moreI called the office and explained that I had squirrels in my attic. They couldn't get anyone out to do the inspection for one week. Brad came out to do the inspection. He did a GREAT job explaining things to me and doing the inspection of my house. He was very nice and professional and came up with ways to cut the cost down. I paid half of the cost up front. The company called me to let me know that the tech would be out to set up the traps (6 days after the inspection). Please understand that if you live 30 miles outside Columbus, Ohio you will be charged almost double the cost to cover the cost of transportation. Also, you will be charged $69 for the inspection (this will be taken off the cost of the job if you agree to let them perform the job.) Except for the extra time and cost because I live outside of the 30 mile radius, I am very happy with this company and will use them again in the future. Will give an update once the 30 days are up and the squirrels are gone.
Description of Work: Flying Squirrels in attack to include trapping, repair and blocking entry points.

Description of Work: I have used Varment Guard for two separate problems -- a bat infestation in my old farmhouse, and an ant invasion in the same house. It's been over two years since they took care of the bat issue, and (so far, at least!) there has been no recurrence. This problem first came to my attention shortly after I bought the home: I discovered bats flying in the house on several occasions!! It was frightening, and grew even more so when several services told me that the only solution was to entirely replace the slate roof on the house (a huge expense). When I called Varment Guard they promptly sent someone out. He seemed like he knew what he was doing, but I was skeptical when he informed me of the relatively small cost involved. Everyone else had assured me that there was no easy solution. I accepted the Varment Gard proposal; they sent out a very professional team of technicians, erected some 'bat doors' in opening they found in the eaves, sealed other openings, and returned a few weeks later to remove the 'doors' and seal the remaining openings. Their inspection of the roof had revealed that it was totally sound, and not related to the problem. When I found ants in my house last year, I had a similar positive experience -- a professional technician who discovered (and explained) the cause of the problem, and took the necessary action at a price that I found reasonable. He also took great care to explain the chemicals he was using, and answered all my questions about possible dangers to me and my pets.

+ -1 moreAnita was very professional - walked around the house and inspected areas of concern and explained services, etc. She left her direct number for me should I have any questions / concerns. Tony was professional and thorough and explained everything he was doing and took time to answer all my questions. They met my requirements for scheduling with no problem. As far as price - I think it was fair and was pleased with the service I recieved. This cost was for the intial treatment and traps and the follow up to remove wasp nests, bird nesting materials, and sanitize everything. I've already seen dead wasps from the treatment. I have signed up for the Total Gold plan so they will return every three months with Tony as my assigned technician. Look forward to continued working with company.
Description of Work: Anita initially came out to provide an estimate and Tony was the technician that come out. I have wasps - with two nests visible and another area where they are seen going under the siding. Also have problem with Voles that have destroyed planting beds and lawn in areas. And have a bird that nested in the dryer vent. Tony did a complete treatment to the outside of the house and inside the garage. Also inspected the interior - no issues there however he did spray areas that are normal points of entry and put down some sticky traps in laundry, furnace room, and garage. Placed Vole traps around the house and explained the treatment and traps, etc. Very professional and took time to answer all my questions. They met my requirements for scheduling with no problem. The wild life group will come out in another week to remove the wasps nests - which it turned out were not active when Tony treated. They will also clear the remains of the bird nest (I had removed the major portion) from dryer vent and sanitize.

+ -1 moreOverall - even though having a racoon tearing up your attic is a nightmare - Karl and his team at Varment Guard were extremely knowledgable, professional, and hard-working to complete a nasty job. I discovered the critter on a Friday night as it was roaming through my attic, tearing down exahust vent, digging up insulation, scratching rafters, etc. Varment Guard is the only company that has Sat. call center hours. All of the other local companies are closed on weekends. Although VG doesn't provide service on weekends, they do answer the phone and schedule. Karl came out Tuesday, inspected and identified the entry, discussed services, provided an estimate, and set traps. I had set a trap in the attic over the weekend, but couldn't catch the clever racoon. Ultimately, it was never caught, but we think it just gave up. The last phase was to repair the attic. Again, VG is a rarity in providing clean-up, repair, and reinstallation of insulation. That's why they are a little high - no competition. However, 2 men worked over 5 hours on a hot summer day in my attic to get the job done. They installed new TAP insulation (with Pest Control). I hope I never have to use an animal control company again, but if I do, Varment Guard will be the one I call.

+ -1 moreThey were timely coming out. Instead of just sealing up where the bats were coming in and out, they made a one way out only door. This allowed the bats to escape and not come back in. They allowed several weeks time for the bats to all get out, then came back and sealed it off. I appreciated that they didn't take the easy way out. I was very pleased with their solution and I have not had any problems since.
Description of Work: I called them to removed bees, and when they came they found bats! they removed them too.

+ 0 moreAll was fine with the service performed. The problem began with the billing department. The first job they did, I was told the cost, and gave them a check for 1/2 of the total to start the work. Shortly thereafter, we called them again for another property to remove the birds. Again, they gave the estimate, and I paid the 1/2 to begin the work. At some point I gave someone at the office my charge card number for the balance, and then the repairman himself called on one of the jobs, and I gave him the charge card number for the balance. Charges appeared on my charge statement, and I believed everything was done and taken care of. This was in April 2011. July 5th I received a letter from a collection agency stating that I owed more money. In looking over the charges, I am not disputing the fact that more money was owed, but why a collection agency? The company has my phone number, address, charge account number ........ if there were a balance due, it seems logical to me that I was at least owed a phone call, or some other form of notification that there was an outstanding balance. Something other than a collection agency. I value my credit rating, and I pay my bills on time. After receiving the letter from collections, I called Varment Guard first thing this morning. I finally asked to speak to the manager/owner, and was told he would return my call. It is now the end of the day, and still not a word from Varment Guard.
Description of Work: We have two rental properties that were bothered by animals- one was with squirrels, the other with birds. Varment Guard was quick to respond to the problem, and so far there has been no repeat problems. The first property, the squirrels were captured and removed, and the hole they made was patched. The second property was with birds, and again they removed the birds and patched the opening.
