He called ahead to assess the need for parts and came arrived promptly at the scheduled time.

Washing machine was making very loud noise at the end of the spin cycle over the weekend. Called Mathew Appliance first thing Monday morning and left my problem and pertinent information on voice mail. Received a call back within fifteen minutes. John assured me he could get to the house same day. He called a bit later to inform me of a two hour window. I gave him serial and model number in my voice mail message, and he had the part in his truck. It took less than half an hour to fix. Very nice, professional and prompt. I would recommend Mathew Appliance to anyone and would use them again.

Fit me in to his busy schedule and had it fixed very quickly. Was very professional and reasonably priced.

Matthew appliance was excellent. Outstanding service. After a billing error that we were not aware of they proactively contacted us and we had a refund within a day or two. Completely impressed with their accountability and honesty.

Our G E Profile freezer was warming up into the 20's although the top part stayed around 40 degrees & seemed okay. I called & left a message for John Mathew on 2-13-14 after checking the list and reading his previous reviews. He returned my call and set up a time to come and repair our G E Profile refrigerator on 2-14-14. (our 55th Anniversary!) When talking with John I told him that in reading onIine, this type of refrigerator (french door/bottom freezer) had a history of the "motherboard" needing replaced but forgot to tell him about the "clicking" sound that it was making as well. The board did need replaced, which John did. John did not have a starter, but gave me the options.. sometimes just replacing the board will correct the problem, but that if it continued to click and heat up to call him back & he would get the part ordered and come back & install it...Had to go to plan B as within 3 hours or so it was evident that the starter would need replaced. John ordered the part, but turned out it was not available, and had to be ordered out of State....John called on Monday to give me the info on the delay, and Wed. the part was in, John came & quickly had the refrigerator up & running like new! Both the refrigerator top & freezer were within normal range within 4 hours and could put what we were able to save back in...We are so grateful for John, his work ethic/christian principles, and for Angie's List to help us find him!! His name & number will remain as "first to call" when we have an appliance problem!

We called this company to do service on our washing machine. He was responsive and scheduled an appointment quickly. He arrived as scheduled and evaluated the problems with the washer and advised that replacement rather than repair made sense with the age and problems with the machine. We were pleased with his service.

John is efficient with his time, and always fixes the problem quickly. He is very knowledgeable about appliances. Will always call him first.

He replaced the dryer heating element.

Took information on our model, ordered part, and called us the next business day to say the part was in. Performed repair that same day. Made recommendations on how to avoid damage to the heating element in the future. Very professional.

I contacted Mathew Appliance repair via e-mail during the snow storm indicating my problem and that it was NOT an emergency. John Mathew called me back within 48 hours with some additional questions, gave me a general idea of how much the part cost and gave an estimate of how long it might take with the caveat that he could not guarantee exactly how long it would take, but that it was LIKELY to take close to an hour or longer as the machine had to be taken apart in order to access the areas needing attention. Once we had established that, he asked whether I wanted him to order the part. I told him to go ahead. and he said he would call back when the part arrived. a couple days later, he called and we agreed to a time for the service. He arrived promptly and did the work while I watched. I would call him again in a heartbeat. Very professional. Very competent.

A. He performed a complex repair on an aging washer, parts and labor, and did a wonderful job. Even though I could have just kept calling him back to do more, he recommended purchase of a new washer--including brand--instead of another repair in the future. B. On two other occasions, he spent considerable time on the phone discussing issues with two different appliances, made useful suggestions, then said "you don't need me to come." That was very impressive, as he gave good advice at no charge, and could have come for a service call to make some money. I would have had him come if he recommended a home visit. Matthew Appliance Repair has earned loyalty from this customer, and I will call him back in the future!

My 5+ year old Kenmore Elite over-and-under refrigerator had suddenly stopped cooling over this past weekend. Using ratings from Angie's List I decided to call Mathew Appliance Repair Monday around noon. I left a message with problem description, model number, and S/N. John called back within the hour to confirm details and to say there was a chance he could get to me Tue morning. He also warned me if the repair required a part not on his truck and that he'd have to order, it would probably be several days before it arrived, which I appreciated. I was more worried about getting the unit properly fixed than quickly fixed, and told John I'd be happy to take the chance. He called Tue AM to confirm his arrival. He arrived at the time he said he would, checked out the unit, determined the problem was a failed "starter", confirmed he had one in his truck and the cost would be approximately $90 plus his labor. He had the new starter installed within a very few minutes and was preparing to leave when I remembered I wanted to get the ice maker checked out since it had been starting to require periodic defrosts to keep it going. He pulled the unit quickly after verifying he also had a replacement for that. Showed it to me, showed some issues with it, it seemed wise to me to replace it while he was already there. He had it installed quite quickly. The unit price was $125. He gave me some advice on how long to wait before refilling the refrigerator, and some well reasoned thoughts on why the refrigerator was likely to be good for several more years and was reasonably repairable given its use of mechanical parts that could be replaced. The refrigerator and ice-maker have been working fine now for 3 days. Total cost for both fixing the inability to cool, replacing the ice maker, and his labor, with tax was just under $300. Just fixing the failure to cool would have been around $150. I thought the $300 total charge for both issues was quite fair. I've used a number of appliance repair folk over the years and it was clear to me John knew his business, and I was convinced he was serious about the philosophy he follows as described on his website. I will have no hesitation about using his services for any needed future work with my appliances.

He had ordered the part per our previous conversation.He called before arrival and came when he said he would. His work was professional and efficient and he allowed me time to clean behind the stove which had not been out of its location for several years. He obviously knows his business. I cleaned the oven after he left and it worked perfectly. I certainly will use his services again when I need appliance repair.

Called and he returned my call within 15 minutes. Stopped by within the hour and fixed the washer very quick. Very professional and provided excellent service. I'll never call anyone else.

My dishwasher was not draining properly. I contacted the company at around 9:30am and John was able to come by my house by 1pm. He took the dishwasher out from the cabinet and checked the drainage and tightened lines. He was unable to locate the problem, but he ran the dishwasher through the rinse cycle multiple times and the problem did not reoccur. He gave me his opinion on what could be going on and how to troubleshoot in the future if it were to reoccur.

John Matthews did an excellent job on my dryer repair. I have had John come to my house for my washer, dryer, and dishwasher on previous visits and he is always honest, fair, and straightforward. I trust his judgement and would highly recommend him for any appliance repair.

Jon came and basically saved us from an appliance nightmare. Within a matter of a few weeks our refrigerator, dryer and stove all either failed to work or lost some functionality. Jon responded initially to our refrigerator call within a matter of minutes and was at our door within a about an hour! He quickly diagnosed the problem and got our refrigerator running by replacing the main circuit panel all within about 30 minutes. Over the next week or so he also fixed our dryer, which was not heating (service charge only, which he combined with our other repairs), fixed our icemaker and got our stove up and running. Jon is superbly knowledgeable about appliance repairs of all types. Having fixed our Samsung dryer, and kitchenaid dishwasher in the past, he is knowledgeable about common problems and the reputation of manufacturers. Jon is also polite and upfront with his pricing. He has saved us enormous replacement costs but never began a project without telling us our options. We are completely satisfied with Mathew appliance and would recommend his services to anyone!

Let's face it, they don't make large appliances to last 15-20 years anymore - but I want to get all I can out of them. Mathew appliance repair has been excellent. After my initial call-usually a voicemail-he calls me back promptly to let me know his schedule and to ask more about the problem, and he has clearly paid attention to my message and references the appliance I mention and my problem. He gives me an idea of his schedule and when he'll be able to get out and it has always been within 2 days, even with snow. He gives me a fair cost of repair-tells me the cost of the part and his charge (an initial service call runs about $75) and let's me decide what to do. No pressure and great communication. Sometimes it's an easy fix, sometimes it's just more cost effective to replace. When I have elected to replace I have asked advice and he's very honest about brands and the availability to get parts. He doesn't favor one brand over another. Most recently I had him out to look at my dryer. He came out within 24 hours of my initial call. The control board was fried but he showed it to me explained my options. As much as I have used him, because I try to fix before I try to replace, he has always been honest and professional.

John was very prompt and professional. He performed the work quickly and double checked for proper operation. He was easy to work with, knew what he was doing and charged a fair price. I would recommend him.

He brought the tool box into the kitchen and asked if he could use one of my dining room chairs to sit on. I said, "Of course". He took the chair and set it down in front of the refrigerator with some tools. The job required him to move around, change tools, etc. After the repair he took the chair back into the dining room. I immediately noticed what I thought were ice chips on the wood flooring where he had been working. I leaned down to clean up the residue and instead of ice chips, a sliver of my hardwood floor had chipped away and left a deep scrape in the flooring. I showed the wood sliver to him and told him I was upset. He said to me "How do I know that wood scrape wasn't there already?" I replied, "It wasn't there before you sat down, and I don't lie. "Then he said very defensively, "That was your chair and you told me I could use it". All I wanted him to say to me was "If I caused that, I am sorry." That's all I wanted from him, an apology. Instead he became very defensive and repeated the same comments to me over and over again. He is arrogant and extremely non-professional. As he was leaving he said, "Ok, If I caused it i'am sorry, but you are ungrateful don't call me again". Not only won't I call him, but will never recommend him to anyone else. Update 12/10/13: I built my home in 2007. I have beautiful hardwood flooring in the kitchen. In over 6 years there had never been any gashes or wood chips in the flooring. I know my floors. Immediately after he moved the chair and all his equipment my eyes saw that something didn't look right. Not only was there a gash but wood slivers as well. He had to have set the chair, or tools down so hard that it damaged the wood. It is going to be a very expensive undertaking to fix or replace the wood. He needs to learn to respect the property of others.

Replaced a circuit board. One note. The service guy was somewhat adamant that it was caused by a clogged vent without checking himself. Said we should call someone to unclog it. Which was fine. I took it upon my self to check, and this was not the case. I believe in piggy back marketing , but only when one is sure and it is appropriate.

Friendly, thorough, effective. Awesome service. Will recommend to anyone and everyone.

Mathew Appliance Repair is amazing! I called at 12:45 pm on a Saturday to fix my washing machine which had just broken. I was not expecting them to come out on a Saturday when they close at 2:00 pm. To my surprise they told me they would be able to come out and the repairman contacted me immediately after my call and arrived within 30 minutes. He immediately spotted the problem and told me that it would require parts that he would have to pick up. He went immediately to pick up the parts before the distributor closed and was back and my washer was fixed by 2:10 pm. The repairman was very courteous and friendly and the price was reasonable too. Now that in my book is amazing service! Mathew Appliance repair deserves major gold stars! Not many places offer that A+ service. They went above and beyond! Thank you so much Mathew Appliance Repair. With a son and husband who play sports, I really need my washing machine and can't go a day without doing laundry.

Not many details. I called and talked with John; he came out 2 days later and repaired the range without any surprises.
