On July 10, I took an old Onkyo CD player for repair. The disk changer would not open, and a CD was stuck inside it. I payed $ 75 dollars to diagnose the problems and see whether it could be fixed or not, which I think was a fair price. I was told it would take about 2-3 week. I called today, August 1, to check on the status of the repair. First, it took a little to locate the invoice and the CD player, then I was told that a part inside was broken and could not be replace as the company was not longer making this model of CD player. When I went to pick up the CD player I asked few questions to try to understand what the problem was. Because I did not understand what Mr. Dennis was saying I asked him to spell the word that I did not understand. He did, but prior to spelling he said and I quote" I do not understand why you are making a big deal about this, that thing is old". I do agree that the CD player is old and understand that parts are not longer available for replacement, nor I question the expertise of Mr. Dennis or the price that I payed for the diagnostic, but what I am asking is why being rude?

They diagnosed what was wrong and fix it for a very reasonable price so that I didn't have to buy a new receiver and told me how to avoid the problem in the future by keeping open space above it so it can cool and not burn up. It was diagnosed and fixed in two days. It is still working great.

Dennis got the job done in under a week and even updated firmware. He was fast, efficient and did a great job. Will defiantly recommend.

It went fairly well, until the price came up. I was told it would be 50.00 if I paid in cash. If not...it had to be run through the system...then it would be 75.00. This fact made me extremely suspicious. When the fuses blew a second time...I called and asked if a 5 amp would be ok to use because we were having a hard time locating the 4 amp fuses. I was told...he would not answer my question because it would make him liable if something were to happen. To me...again, it made me very suspicious....seemed they just wanted me to make the drive to Carmel again...and pay more money for 4 amp fuses. The man knew his business...how to repair...but shady on payment methods!!

We had a receiver that was giving an error code and would stop playing sound. Dennis charged us 75.00 to look at the unit. He called and left voice mail several weeks later that there was nothing wrong with the unit. We called him several time to get detail but he never returned our calls. After no response, we went to his shop. He indicated that the unit had a fried board inside that would cost 300.00 and decided that it wasn't worth the repair. This was different information than he indicated when he left voice mail and he never called us to give us this info. When questioned, he indicated that he had called and left messages and we misunderstood his first message.

His information was inconsistent, he was non responsive and dishonest. Do not recommend using him.

The system was in decent shape but needed some cleaning and repairs due to its age. Mr. McCollum checked the working condition of the whole system and made repairs and recommendations as necessary. He informed us the needle in the record player needed replacing and recommended we do that on our own due to the cost. Mr. McCollum did exactly what we asked for, completed the repairs in about two weeks, which was quicker than expected, and the cost was fair. Excellent work from AV Electronics.

 I dropped of my Samsung 52" LCD television off at 12:05 pm on May 5th for a failure to turn on problem. The owner, Dennis, told me it might take up to a week to get the parts. At 12:44 pm he called to let me know he had the parts and the repair was finished. I have never had such a satisfying experience when having a television repaired.

I dropped off my Integra receiver that was not working on a Monday afternoon. Dennis said he would look at it and give me a call to advise what the problem was and how much it would cost to repair it. I thought it was worth the bench fee to find out if it could be repaired.
I was pleasantly surprised when I received a call from Dennis McCollom that same afternoon to say he had already checked it out and found the capacitor was bad. He said it would be an additional $88 to repair it which included parts, labor, and tax. I thought that was a fair price and gave him the ok to make the repair. He told me it would be ready by noon the next day.
I picked it up the following day and after connecting it back in with the theatre room equipment over a month ago it has been working fine. I did find that the stack it had been in did not give enough clearance above the unit for proper ventilation and it was very hot, so perhaps that is what caused the capacitor to go bad. I adjusted the stack to give the unit more air and it runs much cooler now.
I would definitely recommend AV Electronics for repair of audio/video equipment. You can save money by taking your equipment there instead of having a video company come out to your home and then take your equipment to him anyway. Save the house call fee and take it yourself.

His charges were very reasonable, particularly in light of the fact that the player is no longer made, and a refurbished one is near $1000. He was helpful, and courteous.

I took my amplifier to a local high-end dealer in audio and video equipment, which told me that they would send it to AV Electronics, so I just took it there myself. The owner of the business is friendly and seems very knowledgeable and was able to test the device and report back to me in two days. He gave me a written report which I can now use for insurance purposes. I did not compare his prices to anyone else's so I don't know whether this was a great deal or not. I went to him because the well-known high-end dealer uses him, which indicates to me he is dependable, honest, and good. My experience confirms that.

I searched for this provider after finding them listed as one of two certified repair centers on the manufacturer's website. I took my stereo component in after confirming their address and hours. 
They charged a $55 bench fee for diagnostics and estimate of parts and repairs. Having worked with several professional electronics repair centers in the past, this was both expected and reasonable. If you approve the estimate and have work done, the bench fee is applied to the work done. Otherwise, you pick up your equipment and lose your fee.
The estimate came back very quickly (less than a week) and was reasonable (much less than the cost of replacing the unit and lower than I expected since the repair was out of warranty and the brand was from overseas).
Once I approved the work, it was completed in a week, which was a very quick turn-around time.
This is a mom & pop shop. Everyone that I dealt with was very friendly and thorough in explaining their process. The engineer is very experienced (45 years in the business) and you can tell that he takes pride in his work.
I would not hesitate in returning if I need similar repairs done in the future.
