.I read about Seniors Helping Seniors on Angies List and called the local office about a week before my scheduled surgery.
Dan Rattary, who runs the local office, told me of their services and visited my house a couple days later to tell me more and schedule the service.
On the morning of my surgery Dan and Rose, my caregiver, arrived at my house about forty minutes before I was to be at the hospital, introductions were made and I showed them around. Then Rose drove me to the hospital, dropped me off at the entrance and parked the car.
Rose stayed with me while I was being prepped, taking notes when necessary, and watched over my belongings while I was in surgery. She stayed with me while I was in recovery, then released and an hour after driving me home.
I was billed for services performed about a week later and mailed them a check.

They hire seniors to help other seniors, there are basically age groups. At the time when i first contacted them they were just setting up, so first time the person who came out was actually the president. I mentioned that I was having problems with our lawn, and he did a very nice job, he was very polite and very nice. It was a Sunday but he made an exception for us, so that was really nice. They cut down the lawn and they also cut the landscape. They also help in tiding up the lawn. He basically helped use up the entire time that we contracted for with them. Their policy is $25 per hour for outside lawn work. They have different rates for different things for work done around the house, because they do cleanliness services and things like that. So each different thing has its own rate. Usually the minimum is two hours, but for us at that time was an exception. There were couple of times when a little boy from our neighborhood happened to help, because usually I cut the lawn myself. He offered to cut the lawn for less. I went with him a couple of times but just how he was and give him a little pocket money. We used to have a lawn service up to 2006 and they used to charge $25 a week. I would say between the lawn services that used we have and seniors helping seniors and the president coming by it was the same price, but he spent more time on our lawn. If I was really desperate because the grass was 18 inches, then yes I will use their service in the future.
