Response from Splash Carpentry
I would say communication was excellent until we were asked to complete the following tasks for free: 1. order samples of casings from a supplier in Indiana and present them, I quote " to see if I like them"; 3 1/2 hours driving; 2. pick sample from Owl Lumber in Des Plaines and present them, I quote again "to see if I like them"; another 3 1/2 hours invested; Out of courtesy, my partner honored a free estimate before the member came up with this requests. As always, I do everything in writing so I can use the proof of our honesty and good intentions. Here is the last email sent to this member: "Good morning, we would be able to complete your project but we cannot provide the materials that you want. If you can have them on site, we will be happy to revise our quote and give you an estimate for labor only". The review is not honest and does not reflect the reality and the member who left it is far from being a gentleman. It is basically a retaliation for refusing to spend a significant amount of our time and money for free. Angie's List is doing an excellent job promoting good quality service providers but so far, they could not do anything against pathetic gestures like this. It is good to know that all our bad reviews are coming from the same category of people: cheap and without respect for the contractor and the trade itself. Despite all these bad reviews that we did not work for, we still have almost 25% POH nominations.
