Rain delayed the start of the job, then the outside work once they started. The work was eventually completed, and it looks great. They left the basement cleaner than when they started (what a treat). I would hire them again in a heartbeat.

Dan and his team were punctual, professional and the quality of their work is excellent.

Very responsive via phone and email where other companies did not bother to reply (job was not big enough?). Came in at half the price of other companies. Did not have to wait weeks (like other companies) to schedule for repair. I would definitely recommend them.

North South is a professional group. The owner came and provided a quote. I called and set a date for the work. The workers arrived on time and did their job. Beginning to end, there were no issues. I love when this happens!

Repeat customer. Needed extensive work on south elevation of the rental property where 100+ years of moisture leaching out at the bathrooms and chimneys. About 500 square feet of work. At my home, there was some minor areas of touch up. Once work started, it was quick and clean. Getting on the schedule took a bit but it wasn't too bad.

We needed to repair the top 10-12 courses on our chimney and get some tuckpointing work done on the exterior concrete block foundation wall. We obtained multiple estimated. Dan O'Brien from North South provided a competitive bid but it was his manner and expertise that won us over. The work was delayed due to bad weather but we were informed. When the crew arrived they performed both the chimney rebuild and tuckpointing over the course of two days in a professional manner. The foreman was friendly and answered questions without issue. The job site was cleaned up and we did not need to call for any follow-up work. Based on our experience; we'd use North South Masonry again and would recommend their services.

One positive is that of the three masonry companies I called this one was the only one to answer the phone and make an appointment right away. The overriding negative, however, is that they didn't show up for the appointment--no phone call, nothing.

Dan came out on very short notice which was much appreciated. He pointed out a few areas that we should also address when doing the work. However, while at the house, Dan agreed to provide a detailed estimate which he ultimately never provided. Not know how much the work would end up costing we also discussed completing some of the work immediately and deferring some until next year, which he indicated would not be a problem. Unfortunately, a few days later he emailed me a $1600 estimate with no detail. When asked for a cost breakdown (to know 1) what was covered/not covered and 2) to determine what if anything should be deferred) Dan declined to provide it and said that travel cost to Glenview was too high to potentially split up the work. Hard to believe that one but giving him the benefit of the doubt, I nonetheless again requested the detailed estimate. He never responded.

Dan and his crew were the best. We talked to four different masons, Dan gave us a competitive bid with top-notch service. We were really pleased - and the workmanship is great! I am a Real Estate agent and I will confidently refer him to my clients for this type of work moving forward!

I highly recommend Northsouth Masonry. Their work was done thoroughly and timely and the workmen were courteous and tidy. I was so pleased that I plan to use this company to tuck point and seal our entire building next spring.

We were having problems with mortar crumbling from exterior brick walls (especially on the north side of the building). We contacted Northsouth Masonry & Tuckpointing for an estimate. Dan O'Brien, the President, came out to examine the building to provide an estimate. He took the time to walk around the building including going up on the roof to assess the damage. He pointed out the areas that needed work and explained exactly what needed to be done. He provided a written estimate in less than 24 hours. The work took approximately 1 week to complete. All the workers were very prompt and courteous. There was a supervisor on site the entire time. He was extremely helpful and informative as to the progress of the job and the condition of the building. Once the job was complete they did a great job of cleaning up the work areas. We were very happy with the outcome and will definitely hire them a second time if we have any additional problems with the building.

Everything went fine. The mason performing the work was professional and courteous. I was pleased that this company did not try to over-sell me. Their assessment of what needed to be done was proper and professional. The job was correctly done and I am more than pleased with the result.

We have a historic house with a vintage Iron fence that was supported by a deteriorating stone retaining wall. Northshore Masonry & Tuckpointing rebuilt the wall using the original stone. They arrived on time, did an excellent job and completed the work within budget

They showed up on time, and did a marvelous job. The above work was performed as promised. Also, they cleaned up so well, that if the new cement had not been so obvious, one would not have known they were there at all. I'm entirely pleased with every aspect of this project.

Everything was positive. They were very approachable. They came when they were supposed to, they finished when they were supposed to and we needed some additional work which was not covered in the initial contract and we called them back.

The workers arrived on time and the work was performed very well. They cleaned up well after their work and did a great job. I would recommend there work to anyone. As there was more work that needed to be done than was in the estimate, we verbally agreed to whatever the additional costs would be. We were a little surprised by the additional cost. I recommend that you ask any contractor for a revised quote to avoid any source of irritation.

He did a nice job and I am well pleased with him. I want to call him again and let him know that I am still interested in using his services in the future.

They did an excellent job. He came, gave me an estimate, and we agreed on a price. He came within two weeks. He was prompt, clean, and did good work. I was very pleased, since I had been given recommendations by other people, but the other companies would never came to do the work. It was a smaller job, but Northsouth Masonry & Tuckpointing got right on it and did a nice job. I was very happy with the work.

I just told the story in detail in the above "services performed" section. Overall, the job was performed very well and I was extremely pleased with the end result.

Dan came out and gave a very competitive quote. His quote was about $150 more than a competitors, but the competitor was only going to caulk and seal the chimney. NorthSouth removed the old chimney cap and poured a new one for the extra money. After accepting the quote they came out in 2 weeks to do the work, just as promised. They removed some old tuckpointing that was done very sloppy by a prior company and fixed several areas that were distressed.Dan was a joy to do business with and I would definitely recommend him and his crew.

I actually agreed to use him for the work but he hasn’t contacted me back on when he is going to actually do the work. He quoted me $3600. He said it would be a 2 to 3 day process. My wife actually dealt with him and she was really pleased. She was happy. He came out right away to do the estimate and it was within 2 days. I waited probably about 2 months to do the job, so I called him back and he said that he will put me on a schedule. He said he will let me know when he is going to come out. I said okay and it has been probably about 2 weeks now. I need to call him back and find out. As far as everything else I have dealt with him, I have liked him a lot. I would use him and he really sounded like he was going to do a good job.
