Description of Work: The $275 Big Deal, "Painter for a Day," that I purchased turned into a Big Disappointment because it wound up costing me $1,079.00 to paint my kitchen. That one room took two days to paint, so in addition to the $275 Big Deal price for the one painter the first day, I paid another $595.00 for two painters the second day, at a rate of $35.00 per hour each for a combined 17 hours of work, or $870.00. I supplied the paint and materials myself at a cost of $209.00. If I had known that it would take $1,079.00 to paint my kitchen, I would have been better off negotiating a fixed price contract with a reputable paint company that would have given me more control over the final cost for the job. Never again will I fall for this scheme. |The one "Painter for a Day" who showed up the first day actually slow-walked his way through the job. He never even got around to rolling out paint on the walls but only finished the trim and brush work, and patched a few spots. I had taken off work the day before to clear the work area and move all of the furniture out so as not to have the painter waste time doing the set up. At the end of the first day, I had a big mess on my hands, with paint and tarps all over the place and the kitchen all torn up. The owner, Ron Feley came to my house at the end of the first day (he never showed up until then) and presented me with a contract for the completion of the work at their regular rate of $35.00 per hour per painter. I had little choice but to let them continue the work because I needed my kitchen back. The next day two painters came and finished by the second day at my insistence since I could not take more time off of work to monitor their progress. |I asked Ron why I was not given any kind of estimate in advance so that I would not be taken by surprise. He explained that the Big Deals make him so little money, that it would not be worth his time to go around giving estimates. I had purchased the Big Deal months earlier on August 10, 2015, but Ron did not get around to scheduling my job until November 11, 2015; he said he needed to finish some larger exterior paint projects first before the weather turned. I did not mind the delat because I was in no hurry, but you would think that in all that time he could have stopped by my house (I live not far from him) and given me an honest estimate of what it would actually cost to paint my kitchen, or what I could expect to get for $275. I did not realize that the Big Deal was only a lead generator. |These labor/time "Big Deals" only work for the consumer if they are performed in good faith. Otherwise, there is no way to prevent a contractor from stretching out the time that it takes to perform a job at the customer's expense. Buyer beware! |

Description of Work: Ronbo Fine Painting offered a very fair price for painting our condo in the Chicago area. There were a few touchup areas we felt needed attention after the job completion that were handled promptly and with courtesy. I would recommend Ronbo Fine Painting to anyone in the Chicago area!!

Description of Work: Repair crumbling stucco around base of house and repair several cracks. ($2,100.00)

Description of Work: Ronbo's Team repaired the stucco on entire house and painted; repaired concrete around the house; sealed all holes around the base of the house and painted windows totaling $5,000. Ronbo's put me in contact with a carpenter to rebuild my front porch at $800 and a contractor who put aluminum cladding on all of my windows and door frames at $2200.

Description of Work: Ronbo repaired all plaster cracks in our damaged walls; put new drywall ceiling in, and painted our first floor.

Description of Work: I called to have an estimate prepared for the purpose of painting all outer windows, storm windows and soffit and facia.

Description of Work: Ronbo repainted my exterior trim work (door and window trim, gutters and downspouts, a small amount of exposed electrical conduit), and also redid 1 large and one very small room (plaster repair work, repaint).
