Kevin McCann quoted the job , providing sample windows to review. He provided a quote, which was a bit higher thn the competition, but I liked his approach and selected McCann. He brought back his operations manager to answer a question we had. Installation was to schedule. Windows are terrific

Todd was our salesman. He was very accommodating with scheduling and even came out a second time to leave a sample window and some color chips. He was professional and knowledgeable. He took time to answer my questions and was responsive to my questions after his initial sales call (via email). The quote came back and we thought it was very reasonable. Not the cheapest, not the most expensive but a reasonable price which included thorough lead removal. Dave came by to do the final measurements and he coordinated installation. Also incredibly professional and pleasant to deal with. The installation team was top notch. Very hard working and their clean up was impeccable. We have a couple more windows we need to replace and plan to call McCann in the spring to do the job.

Todd Stills came out to give me an estimate. He was punctual, knowledgeable and polite. I received the estimate quickly. After a couple of changes, and after comparing prices, I hired them. The work was done on time with little mess. the workers were diligent.Their clean up was great. I would hire them again.

The estimating process went well. They were recommended by two friends who were pleased with the quality of the work, although they told me to be careful of the details. And they were right. Although they were the most expensive of the three estimates (by a few thousand dollars), I went with them because I expected a thorough, professional, quality job. Other than the fact that they put on the wrong texture siding (I asked for smooth and got the fake wood-grain), and that they tried to cover the dry-rot that the estimator and project manager said would be removed and replaced, and I now have water damage on my ceiling, it was fine. Seriously, after they'd removed the old siding and covered the house with Tyvek, they started to install the new siding, which I pointed out was not what I asked for (I wanted the siding with a smooth finish, not wood-grain) nor what they promised. I was told that it would take them 3 weeks to get the proper siding in. I decided that I didn't want my house exposed to the elements in the Fall for 3 weeks, so I agreed to let them put the wrong stuff on the house. The worst thing was that in spite of being assured by the estimator and the project manager that the two sections of dry-rotted wood (support pillar on the car part and the along the eaves of the roof) would be cut out and replaced with new wood, they tried to just cover it with the siding. I saw them starting to do it in one place, and told them that I was promised new wood. The installers claimed they didn't know anything about it, and did as I asked. When I asked about the other location that was already covered in vinyl (flashing under the eaves), they said they'd removed the bad wood. After they left, I got on a ladder to double check and discovered they'd not removed the dry rot. They blatantly lied to me. I was furious and called to speak to the owner/estimator, but was referred to the project manager. He sent an installer back on a Sunday morning and I watched him do the job that they originally promised to make sure he did it right, as promised. The job on the windows was very nice (although the framed bathroom window started to pull apart at the joints, likely because of moisture. And I had to hire a painter to paint the interior window frames (apparently they don't do that, they just leave them unfinished), as well as the flashing on the house that they didn't cover. They left the house looking unfinished. Oh, and now I have water damage on my living room ceiling for the first time in the history of this house, which was built in 1956. I am not impressed with their follow-through or the details. Be very careful about the details. If you work with them, be very thorough with your instructions and what you want when talking with the estimator, the project manager, the foreman and the installers. Confirm, double-check, and triple-check. Otherwise you might not get what you want. UPDATE 9/14/10: As promised in his "Provider Response" of 8/24/10, Kevin McCann met personally with me to apologize and provided a partial refund on the job. I appreciate his actions to make right the situation.

We were in need of a new storm door and contacted McCann Window & Exteriors after researching contractors on Angie's List. We were interested in working with someone local like McCann Windows & Exteriors but would have considered contractors further out if necessary. After reading previous comments we contacted several locally based contractors. We needed a custom made door and were looking for the best product within our price range. Jim McCann was very punctual and positive in his response and offered what we thought would be a quality product meeting our specifications. The door was ordered and completed well within the expected timeframe. The gentleman who came to install the door was meticulous and did an excellent job! We are very pleased with our beautiful door and absolutely recommend this company who delivered outstanding service.

He arrived early which was fine. We spoke on my front porch. Before viewing what needed to be done I gave him some specifics and he had a what seemed to be a market survey. It was very unusual. He would ask me what I expect and what I would consider good workmanship. I would explain that it means straight lines, cleaning up after yourself, honoring any commitments made, etc. He would then ask me to be more specific about things like. "what do I consider to be straight lines". It seemed like such a strange line of questioning. He wanted to know how long I lived here, who owned the house, and also what and when was the last project at my house. On the phone they wanted to know if anyone else could make decisions regarding the project. He asked for specifics. He did not even inspect windows or doors.The whole situation made me uncomfortable and when I mentioned this he stated he would not want to work with me on the project.

We are happy with them. They talked to us about the different kinds of windows. We made a decision. They came back when they said they would. They were neat and clean with the windows. The quality of the windows were good. Anything that you would want trades people to do in your house they did it.

They did a great job. They were on time. I felt the owner was extreemly honest. He honored everything he said he was going to do.

They responded promptly and sent someone out to give an estimate. I was impressed with them, they were polite, professional and complete but they were a very expensive so I didn't go with them. The quote was approximately 50% higher than another quote.

The transaction went smoothly. McCann delivered as promised and was timely for all appointments. All the work was completed in one day by a five man crew. They were very neat and cleaned up completely. The glass in one sash cracked within a week of installation. McCann had it replaced quickly.

I was quite pleased with it. They did a nice job. They cleaned up afterwards. I tried the door and it works nice.

They were great. We have gone back to them for another set of windows. They do quality work and they did it quietly and quickly. They cleaned up after themselves and didn't make a mess. Once they started they did it promptly. We had a lot of good feelings about them.

A few months ago, they did some siding work for us. We also had them to do new patio doors and windows. We were very pleased with them. They had done work for us in the past. When we needed to do some siding work, we asked them to give us an estimate. We took estimates from a couple of other companies as well. Their estimate was lower for a higher grade siding so we went with them. They did a beautiful job. We were very happy. I did not check everywhere for the prices but I think their price was good.

Kevin and an associate came for an initial appointment and listened to our needs, eventually recommending Pella Architect Series windows, which are almost identical in style to what we had. He provided a price, which was initially higher than we were hoping for. We also checked out two other reputable window replacement companies, but liked the fact that Kevin and McCann are local to the North Shore, use their own workmen, were very responsive and knowledgeable. We eventually worked out a satisfactory agreement on price (helped by other bids, but Kevin worked to earn the business regardless). The best part of the experience, though, was the actual installation. I was dreading the experience, but the two workmen showed up on time, stayed exactly on the schedule they projected, and were very neat and conscientious about their work. When they were done, the windows and door looked really good. We would absolutely use them again and highly recommend them.

So far our interaction with them has been just fine. The owner of the company talks a lot and it was hard to keep him on point. So far we have been pleased with them. He gave us an Angie's List discount. They called the wrong number and left a message at the wrong number. They were right on time every time.

We only had one problem with the project, but it was not a very big deal. We left a message for the sales man and it took him a while to get back to us. Other than that small issue the workmen were very good. They were very clean, neat and quiet. We have been very pleased with their service. That was just for the installation. I hope that the windows are still good next year. The price averaged out to about a thousand dollars a window. We only got one other estimate and their price was comparable. I would use them again in the future.

The installation crew was very good. The installation manager was. The initial salesperson the owner was very nice until after the installation. I have contacted them because I have gaps that need caulking. Since I have a five year warranty and they installed the windows, I expected that they would come out. They agreed that they needed to look at the windows back in April. It is now October. I have placed 9 phone calls and gotten every excuse imaginable. Clearly they do not stand by their warranty. Because they did a good job initially despite the installation manager, I recommended them to a friend who spent $45,000. They aren't calling her back either. I am now sending a formal letter. Be aware good work but they do not stand by their work.

McCann was prompt with the original callback and was able to schedule an appointment that worked with my schedule. Sales rep Todd was on time the day of the appt, and was very professional. He advised what our options were, which was nice since we really didn't know yet what replacement style we wanted. He sat down with us and went through the brochures and took the time to detail what exactly the energy tax credit meant for a project like ours. His information packet was unrivaled, which even included a certificate of insurance evidencing limits and coverage (a big deal for us since my wife and I are both in insurance). After getting a few estimates, we ended up going with another contractor who had a lower price on eight windows of comparible quality. We ended up foregoing the door for a later date. We will definetly still consider McCann when that time comes.

Todd Stills took my order. He provided an estimate for a building-wide project in 2007, (which we voted down because not enough owners wanted to replace windows), and came back and did another estimate for just my unit. Pellas are not cheap, but I am thrilled with their quality. Vlad and Stan installed all the windows and the door and were brilliant. They were punctual, professional, very respectful of our landscaping and brickwork, meticulously clean, polite and efficient. They did an absolutely beautiful job. Mc Cann will probably be your highest bid, but they are worth every penny.

The salesman was responsive, prompt, courteous, and professional, and provided a written estimate at the end of the visit once the scope was defined. The product he was offering was high quality, but the price was high compared to the other estimates I got.

The experience of working with them was positive. They were responsive, when there was one little glitch. They rectified the situation quickly. Overall, they were good.

Salesman provided a couple of different options and quotes. Once we settled on a game plan, I put a deposit down. Windows came and were installed about 6 weeks later. I questioned the wisdom of installing windows on single digit days and subsequently the caulk cracked. The project took a day longer than expected, and I had to leave town so we had to reschedule an additional installation day. One of the window panes snapped about a month after installation, it was replaced without question in a reasonable time.
