Description of Work: I needed help transferring files to my new PC from my old. There were multiple software & hardware issues to be dealt with. Mark visited my office no less than 3 times....and he responded each and every time within hours of my call(s). He was informative on every aspect of my problems, and he resolved all of them. He was also very instructive in showing me various applications for navigating from one to another, via shortcuts, alternatives and lots of other suggestions.. Mark was respectful and understanding of every concern I had, whether it be software or hardware or even logistical questions . He went beyohnd my expectations in that he made suggestions about workarounds and shortcuts and other items I would not have thought about. I felt his fee was justifiable for the work he performed. What I liked most about Mark is that he never had as much as a hiccup about any request I had made of him and he was right there each tijme I needed him. I give a resounding A+ to Mark, his service and his amazing demeanor. I intend to call him again whenever I need help with either hardware or software issues.

 + -1 moreI looked him up on the list Sunday evening, brought the CPU with me to a job that I was working on near his office and called him on the way to the job. He was able to receive my CPU right away. He had me bring him an external hard drive (faster and cheaper for me to go get it for him) for him to install. He had everything all done and ready to pick up the next day - earlier than I had expected and much appreciated!
Description of Work: My CPU was having problems locking up and not re-booting. Mark re-booted it in safe mode and got it to work well. Removed Norton 360 that was not recommended and added a different protection software. He also installed an external hard drive backup system to automatically backup my system - since I am not very good at doing it myself and need someone to help save me from myself! :-).

 + -1 moreMark called me while he was out of town on vacation shortly after I left him an e-mail. He was extremely patient, friendly and helpful. He gave me steps that I could follow on my own to address the problem. I've tried a number of computer services, including Geek Squad. This is the first time I felt really comfortable that I was dealing with a knowledgeable professional who would take every possible step to address my problem while helping me understand what was going on.
Description of Work: My daughter's computer was infected with malware. Mark worked with me to remove the offending software.

 + -1 moreMark came out the same day I called within 2-3 hours. He was professional, knowledgeable and excellent. He reinstalled my printer which the Geek Squad remotely knocked out working on another problem. I spent 2 weeks and many hours on the phone with Geek Squad. They couldn't reinstall my printer and refused to have a Tech out without charging me again. Mark came and had it fixed it within 10 minutes. The cost was reasonable and I will definitely be using Mark again.

 + -1 moreMark was able to resolve each of the issues. The printer issue was not very straight forward and Mark had to check a number of different issues but he was able to get it resolved. He spent a lot of time making sure everything worked properly which I appreciated. He's professional and very personable. I would highly recommend his services.
Description of Work: I had a variety of computer issues to take care. My son's laptop was running very slow and was showing a hard drive problem. I need a wireless printer installed that I couldn't get to operate and I had Microsoft service update that was not installing.

We gave him the computer on a Thursday and received it back on the next Tuesday, less than a week. Mark is professional, returns phone calls promptly and kept us well informed. We have used him before and will continue to use him for all our software computer problems. We highly recommend him.
Description of Work: Mark repaired our laptop computer which would only boot up in safe mode due to a software malfunction. He saved our important data, swiched operating systems from Vista to Windows 7 and resotred our data to the harddrive. He also picked up the computer from our home to work on it.

Description of Work: My computer crashed on a Thursday night. I desperately needed it and the data in it as i had to grade student papers that weekend. I called Mark early Friday morning. He responded immediately and began work that day. By Saturday night, he had backed up all of the data and restored the hard drive and programs I needed. Mark also took the time with me that day and later to explain how to access data and properly back up the computer.

He gave me the name and number of another service company. He was so pleasant and professional to deal with, I would not hesitate to use him in the future.

He returned the like-new computer the next day, and even responded 2 days later to a follow up question I hadn't thought of at the initial visit. All for the agreed( and fair ) price. I even got a discount.
Description of Work: Repaired a PC with blue screen and other severe error issues. He pinpointed the problems and rectified everything. He also hooked up a home network we had never even unboxed. Fabulous. .

 + -1 moreCalled Mark on Friday of Memorial Day weekend, but frankly wasn't expecting a call until Tuesday after weekend He called me back same day and although he had his child's graduation, plus had lots of relatives staying with him, he arranged to see me either Sat or Sun. I told him not to ruin his weekend over it, since the graduation was once in a lifetime. He came out on Sunday on time and had problem fixed within an hour. He is great! Really appreciated his dedication!

Description of Work: I called late Friday afternoon when my home computer came up with the BSOD and other crazy things! Mark called me back early Saturday morning and we discussed my problem. Based on our discussion, it appeared that economically it was cheaper to buy a new computer then enlist Mark's services. Therefore, Mark did not perform any services. However, I was impressed with his responsiveness (calling me back on a weekend) and his professionalism. He walked me through several options I could try to salvage the computer and didn't try to sell me services that were not necessary.

 + -1 moreMark fixed the virus by giving me the malware download bwefore coming out and also fixed the software application. My boss was so impressed, he downloaded the malware on his home computer and laptop right away when he came home.
Description of Work: I called Mark because I used him at home last year with great success. This was a problem at work and my boss was on vacation when one of the computers was having software communication problems with the main system. Mark was able to resolve it by going thru different applications and settings in the system. I also had a nasty virus that completly locked up my main computer at work as well, and Mark advised me over the phone (before coming out) what malware to download to fix my problem. Which worked like a charm!

 + -1 moreI called Mark in the morning and he said he could stop by that evening to take a look. He came over that evening, as promised. The cartridge was badly jammed and he did not want to risk breaking it. He recommended we take the printer to a service center, however, he gave my husband instructions on how to try to unjam the cartridge if we wanted to chance it ourselves. Even though Mark charges a minimum for any visit, he refused to take any money because he did not feel like he fixed the problem. My husband later followed Mark's instructions and it worked! Our printer is unjammed! Mark was prompt and very helpful. I would recommend Loewy Consulting to everyone with computer issues. I will definitely call on him again!
Description of Work: Our printer cartridge was jammed badly. We have a Dell 3000cn printer and while trying to replace an ink cartridge, the cartridge got stuck in the unlocked position and the whole thing was jammed. As you can imagine, Dell support was completely unhelpful.

Based on my computer model, determined how much more memory could be added and purchased extra memory for it (at a great price). Came exactly when we were scheduled, installed memory, cleared out my start up "stuff" to improve speed, connected my printer to my wireless router with a cord he provided. Advised on back-up options. Ran a virus scan and recommended free programs. Set up my new laptop to work with our printer. The conputer runs great. Very freindly and professional.

 + -1 moreThe whole experience was great from start to finish. I was contacted promptly when I left a message requesting service and Mark came out the next day. He is very professional and really knows his stuff. He explained everything clearly and took care of all the issues in less than an hour. I didn't get an estimate - he had to see what the problems were. I thought what he charged me was more than fair.
Description of Work: I was having internet connection issues as well as viruses on my computer. Mark addressed all the issues and also suggested I contact my internet service provider (Comcast) to get my modem replaced as it was a very old model. Comcast did a remote check and confirmed it was at "end of life" and will replace it. Mark cleaned all the viruses he found in the system, installed new anti-virus software and a program for me to do a weekly check and clean-up. He also installed the Firefox internet connection, which works better than Microsoft Internet Explorer.

 + -1 moreWhile we remolded our home we had the electrican install cat-5 wire in all of the newly renovated rooms. I ran the wires to a 24 port switch and plugged everything in. It didn't work. Comcast limits the number of IP addresses that can be used on their routers. Mark installed a new router and in minutes everything was working.
Description of Work: Mark set-up my home network enabling the computers, printers and wireless network to work properly. He did a great job and I'll use him again if needed.

 + -1 moreMark came to my home to diagnose & repair my "antique" cpu. He got it to boot up immediately (which it had failed to do for the past few days). He said he could spend a couple of hours scrubbing the hard drive & re-installing software, but pointed out that the Micron processor speed was snail's-pace. He urged me to replace rather than repair the cpu; doing that would cost about the same in the short-term and save me both time and money in the long-term. I didn't want to wait for a week to get a new system up and running, so Mark offered to sell me a refurbished Dell Dimension 5100 (which he'd planned to use in his home) and flat-screen Philips monitor; he returned the next afternoon to install both. I'm completely happy with my new "gear." More to the point, I'm confident that the new system will work and that, if something does go wrong, Mark will "rescue" me, sooner rather than later!
Description of Work: Mark replaced my ancient Micron cpu and CRT monitor with a refurbished Dell Dimension and flat-screen monitor and installed necessary software. [Here's the breakdown on the $637 I spent: $350 for the cpu; $80 for the monitor; $207 for TWO service calls @ $115/hour, minus 10% Angie's List Discount.]
