Jon was a pleasure to deal with during the first consultation, and Jay did a very good job with the installations (he had to come back to fix one issue, but all is well). We like the windows and door so far, and they were comparatively very affordable for the quality.

It turned out very well. The process went smoothly and the price was competitive with other quotes. I’m happy with their services overall.

They’re a great company! The work turned out well. They have a good reputation, good follow-up and were recommended to me by a good friend of mine who has used them. The installer found something strange in the window, and the service man came right out to inspect, but didn't find out anything wrong. He showed me exactly how to use the windows, open the windows, how to open them to clean, etc. They’re noted for no-pressure when they come out to give an estimate. They’re open and knowledgeable about their products. They inspire confidence and they’re easy to understand.

They did a really good job and we are really pleased. I thought their price was great. The technicians were very friendly and easy to work with. I’m happy with their services.

They were awesome, and the window was great. The person who came out was on time and very polite. He hardly even talked to me, and he was in and out, but he was very professional. He actually left the house nicer than when he came in because he totally vacuumed everything. It was nice and easy; it was a great experience. Their price was only a little bit more than another provider I was looking at, but the service was very good. I would rate them highly and would use them again in the future if necessary.

Overall, the experience was excellent. Very personable and gave me a very good price. The technicians were thorough, accommodating, and didn't leave until the work was done.

Jon was prompt and on time with quote. We were impressed with the seal of the demo windows. Our old windows were very drafty. Installation took place on the agreed upon date and completed on time. Only hiccup was one window arrived broken from the factory and had to be replaced. This took a while along with winter weather so we did not fully complete the job until March. Windows work great. Been thorough a couple of strong storms and high wind and the windows keep the noise (and cold) out. Overall we are very pleased with the experience and have no hesitation recommending Scientific Home Services. This was not the lowest price quote we received, but the windows appeared superior to the those of the lower quotes.

They know what they are doing and know how to estimate. They do little jobs and big jobs. I have been using them for years and love everything about them. They use a great product, do great work and are great people. The prices are also very good and competitive.

This is a great company across the board. We called in Scientific based on work they did for a neighbor as well as their reviews on AL. Jon came out to give us the estimate for our house. Very thorough, yet not at all pushy, Jon spent a lot of time going through the house and educating me about his product(s). Of five different estimates, Scientific was actually tied in terms of (low) cost. There was one other contractor whose customer service ratings were very slightly higher (if you can believe that once you meet Jon), but I was not convinced in their products based on a lot of web research that I had done. Jon was very helpful to us managing costs. His advice was sound and at my parent's house, he even suggested NOT replacing a couple of windows because there was no benefit (this cost him about $1500 in easy profit). The installation went well. It took two days, but at the end, there was little indication that anyone had been there at all. There have been a couple of "shakedown" issues - sticky latches and a large stubborn casement, but their service technician, Victor, has been prompt to respond and resolve any problem, no matter how small. The same story applies to the work done to my parent's home. A reasonable quote, quick installation and quick follow-up to any issue. We are very pleased with the quality of the product, the windows make a huge difference in my parent's (formerly) drafty house and we anticipate that they will demonstrate their worth this summer on our sun-drenched southern and western exposures. The windows are tight and work very well mechanically. Overall, I would recommend Scientific whole-heartedly. Great price, but most importantly, great service and attitude. We will be calling them to replace the other windows in a few years.

I could not be happier to write a review for Scientific Home Services - this company is top notch in my opinion. We received quotes from 4 different companies, and SHS's estimation was right in the middle. We chose SHS for the quality of product and for the professional and honest nature of the company. We were impressed with Jon, who gave us our initial quote and was available to answer questions as they arose. Representing the company, Jon was very professional, confident in their product and team, and presented to us with absolutely zero pressure. He took a lot of time discussing our options and was thorough in explaining their lead-safe renovation procedures, which we greatly appreciated. The entire process was painless, from the initial estimate to the day of install and follow-up afterward. We will highly recommend Scientific Home Services to neighbors and friends.

It went great. John's quote was a bit higher than the two others we had received, but we decided to go with him based on confidence in quality of installation. The team did a great job. The install was quick and painless. We are very happy with the windows and noticed a difference in our home immediately.

They did a great job and would use them again in a heartbeat. I promised them I would file a report on Angie's List, and I apologize that I was so slow to do so. They really were wonderful and easy to work with.

The overall experience was very positive. They provided information to help us stay within our budget. They also helped size and plan the project, and suggested we forgo bay windows as their inclusion would push us past our planned investment. John explained that to do them properly, the costs tend to escalate very quickly. They provided a quote quickly and were able to also explain how the energy savings tax credit would work. When we signed the contract and they performed the work, the whole crew did an excellent job and were as fast as they were thorough and professional. They were great about working around all of our stuff and dealing with the dogs and cats too. John and Vincent were wonderful to deal with and follow-up was always proactive and timely. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. They may not have the lowest price, but they will be very price competitive once you know the quality of the materials they insist upon for their installations. They are a case study of a company that understands how to be customer focused and professional without being annoying and over the top. A very good experience all around.

I like the sales/service of this company. That's why I called them again this year. I purchased two windows for a bedroom last year. This year, Jon has very helpful in guiding me to a casement window for our kitchen. I knew I didn't want a regular double hung window because of the location and size of the window, but hadn't considered a casement. Jon came to our house to talk to me about my options. I'm quite happy with the choice and quality. The double hung windows are good as well. I can't comment on price because I didn't shop around (however, the prices were in the range of what I expected). I did try to call ACAN because the rest of the windows in our house are from ACAN but they didn't answer my calls. I went with service in this case and, of course, windows that meet (or exceed) current energy standards.

The sales call was very professional and non-pressuring. They took measurements and explained the windows in detail and explained what features added value and were worth the investment. I have replaced most of the windows in my house myself, so I priced out replacing the picture window myself, but because of the size I also wanted to price out professional installation. The price seemed reasonable (based on replacing the window myself) and the windows seemed like high quality so I went with them. Paid roughly 40% down and with the remaining due upon installation. It took about 5 weeks for the windows to come in and another 1-2 weeks to schedule the appointment, which was in-line with the estimate given on the sales call. The day of the installation, they called and asked if they could come 1 hour earlier which was no problem with me (I appreciated the phone call). The installation went fine, very professional and I could tell they truly wanted the window installed correctly - going as far re-doing some of their flashing around the window to make it right. Overall, I am very happy with the windows, installation, and the entire process. Would highly recommend and would definitely hire them again.

The estimation process was great. Jon was very informative and answered all of our questions. He took a lot of time to talk through our options and explain the process with an emphasis on best practices for Lead Safe renovation. Although Jon worked to find the best solutions with a variety of window manufacturers for what we were looking for, in the end we went with another vendor due to the overall price and being able to use one window manufacturer for all of the 18 windows. I recommend members to give Scientific a chance to bid your project as they are a high quality vendor.

Jonathan, the owner, was very professional when he came to my house to give me an estimate. The installer was very neat, and the windows are good quality. There were some small problems with the windows when they were first installed, like screens that didn't stay in the "up" position and locks that popped out when they weren't supposed to. The company's repair person had to come out to my house two or three times to remedy these problems, but since they've been fixed, the windows have been great. The response was to my complaints was very prompt.

I was contacted by Jonathan Koloms, who supervised the project. He also calculated the potential tax credit I hope to receive for this project. The windows have been in place for about 6 months now and are completely satisfactory. His workers were neat and professional.

We were very pleased with the company. All the windows were replaced in one day and they look great. There were no problems with the installation, and so far the windows seem to work fine. The company was easy to deal with, and we really appreciated the no-pressure estimate. There were no surprises, and the cost was much lower than the other estimates that we received.

I dealt with Jon Koloms, who was the most knowledgable person I have ever dealt with. What a wonderful person! Hos crew showed up on time and did a spectacular job. I would highly recommend them.

Jon was prompt on the phone and in scheduling the appointment. He was also on time for the appointment. He spent quite awhile taking measurements and explaining what he expected to do and how they would do it. I did mention that he was bidding against two other companies, so I don't know if that put him off, but I never received a quote from them or even a follow-up phone call. However, we did decide not to pester for the quote when I didn't hear from him.

Scheduled an appointment to get an estimate on our entire house with full frame Marvin windows & patio doors. Jon arrived on time, he measured all windows & patio doors, we indicated to Jon that we wanted one of our picture windows changed out to a patio door. The job consisted of 9 double hung, 2 picture windows & 3 patio doors for a approx. cost of (22k) per other quotes we received. Jon indicated he would have the quote complete the following week. We never heard back from Jon or received the quote and therefore we went with another company on Angie?s list.

From the salesman who came to my home (arrived right on time) and explained carefully and thoughtfully what the company provides and associated costs/benefits, to the installation process, everything went exactly as promised. The workmen were polite, professional and the job was done BEAUTIFULLY without any mistakes or mess. I got 3 bids and Scientific was "dead center" price-wise and we couldn't be happier with the work.

The consultation with John was excellent. He knows what he's talking about and is very low pressure. He took measurements and gave us an estimate on the spot. He even suggested not replacing the basement windows until we were ready to do a basement remodel--it showed he didn't want to just grab as much money as possible which was refreshing. The work itself was excellent. The installers removed the old storms and windows very quickly and neatly and the new windows were in in two days--one day for each floor. They also installed aluminum trim on the outside and caulked everything. (The exterior caulk stinks but that goes away in a day so it's nothing to worry about.) The new windows look almost exactly like the old window+storm from the outside, only cleaner. Never having to paint the exterior trim is a nice bonus. On the inside they have a little less glass area due to the replacement windows sitting inside the existing frame, but that's the way it is. The upside is the interior trim isn't touched during installation so no additional work is needed. They look nice, operate smoothly and the tilt-out feature is so nice for cleaning. They're also very well sealed. When they're closed it's very quiet inside. In the recent hot weather I'd turn the air conditioning off during the day and the temperature inside would only rise 1 or 2 degrees over the course of the day. I could never do that with the old windows. I was concerned about looks replacing my original wood windows with vinyl, but they look great. The 3 new aluminum storms (3 season porch so didn't want all new windows) are also very high quality and look good. They're better than the old storms. In all it was a great experience, it cost less than we expected and the vinyl windows are much nicer than any I've seen before. Plus we get the $1500 tax credit because they meet energy efficiency standards.
