They had to come back and seal around the windows. For some reason it wasn't done. Also had issues with a couple of the windows not staying up. They came back and repaired them and they work perfectly now.

They are hard workers-came back a couple of times to answer questions and concerns I had. Thanks!

Victory is the window service repair guy. He is busy, so expect to wait a bit to get an appointment. On the possitive side, Victory was honest and a nice guy. He didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need and he even replaced a few broken latches for free. I honestly cannot remember the exact price paid to fix three windows, but $375 is about right.

I contacted Scientific Home Services LTD after seeing their amazing reviews here on Angie's List. Let's just say the reviews are spot-on! I have a rehabbed condo/loft in a building that was built around 1920. The loft conversion was done around 2000. Like many rehabbed buildings, the developers tend to be shady, using cheap products and less than average installers. Since we bought the unit, we always had problems opening and closing the windows and the patio door was in bad shape with leaks, strong wind drafts, condensation between the window panes and no insulation causing the street noise from below to be heard in the unit. Victor, the Field Service Technician came out to the unit, looked at the windows and just did an amazing job of explaining the cause and what our options were. He advised me that replacing the block and tackle balances on the windows would help with the opening and closing. He told me it wouldn't be the same as replacing it with a new window, but it would definitely help. He was absolutely right. For the patio door he referred me to Jon, the VP of the company. Jon scheduled a visit to the unit to take measurements of the patio door because it was not a standard size and would need to be custom made. Jon was such a nice guy. He was professional, knowledgeable and extremely pleasant to talk to. He advised me the door would take approximately four weeks to be made. I scheduled the window repairs with Victor in the meantime. He came with one helper. They installed the balances on 5 of the windows. Everything went smoothly and I was really happy with the result. Once the door was ready, Jon called me to schedule the installation. Gilberto, the Installation Crew Leader and his guys showed up. This was a big job! The patio door was huge. It did not fit in the elevator so they had to carry it up to the 3rd Floor. They did a great job of installing the patio door. I was really happy with their work. Almost immediately I noticed a huge difference. Our loft was so much quieter! Overall, from beginning to the end the level of service you get from this company is superb! And I feel the price was right for the work done. When it comes time to replace the windows, I know who I'll be using. Lastly, the letter I received from Scientific reminding me to submit a review (i tend to procrastinate a bit) stated they would donate $20 to Chicago Animal Care & Control for every review they received during the next month. Now, I like them even more! Thank you!

Fair price. On Time, clean, professional, excellent workmanship, quality and results. Recommended highly. One of our windows would not operate after couple of months. Service came out day after we contacted and repaired in minutes. Company followed up asking if repair was performed and that everything was OK.

I wanted to replace the old wood storm and screen system on my 1940 cinder-block house. The old screens were falling apart and were difficult to use. I looked into replacement windows but really like my old windows. There are cheaper versions of a triple track storm window you can buy but these from Scientific are very high quality. Triple track storm windows allow you to switch between storms and screens from the inside - slide one up and pull the other down into place. Very convenient. They are sealed with caulk so there is no draft. Jon and his crew provided fast, pleasant and professional service throughout the process. And the windows look great.

We are very satisfied. This is the 2nd time we have used Scientific for windows. Jon our salesman is professional, likable and very helpful in finding the right product . All in all, a pleasant experience. The installation went well and there was no mess afterwards. The company certainly gets our recommendation !

A basement window would not crank shut completely and the break caused a lot of air leakage. It was one of a set of three windows in a single frame and the alternatives were to fix the broken window so it would shut firmly or replace the whole set. Replacing just one window was not an option. I was informed that the fix to the broken window would not allow it to be opened all the way. This limitation was not important to us since we never open those windows whose bottoms are at ground level, for fear of squirrel/other animal entry if the windows were left open. Victor came for the job and he was very good about explaining the problems and alternatives. He did not push the alternate more expensive solution. In just an additional few minutes, he also fixed a kitchen window that would not crank shut if opened too far out. He also recommended bringing its slightly bent screen frame to a particular hardware store; then as he was leaving, he decided to try to pound it back to shape and now I can open that window without bugs coming in through the slit caused by the bent frame! Not to mention that he saved me a repair or replacement bill from the hardware store. He even replaced a missing spring that keeps the screen frame in place. Moreover, he gave recommendations for reattaching firmly to the window the decorative wooden trellis that was missing hard to find, nonstandard pins that held it in place. On his way out, he noticed my slamming front screen door - a long-standing problem that has startled many an exiting guest. Totally beyond the call of duty and out of scope, he got a screw from his vehicle and fixed the door slamming problem! Victor, thank you for the awesome service.

We highly recommend Scientific Home Services, they have great products, and great people who do great work.

We would have used this provider, but the person in our house that needed the upgrades was moved into a nursing facility. We will not be making the changes planned.

Victor was awesome. He was honest about my windows and what I should do in the meantime to prevent air from coming in. We actually got a quote from his company a week later on replacing our windows.

Jon came out and did the measuring of our four large basement windows we were looking to replace. He spent quite a bit of time discussing options with my husband and was very knowledgeable about options as well as the Downers Grove code requirements for basement windows. The quote we received was in the middle of the quotes we received, but we were very impressed with Jon's professionalism. We asked if he could review the quote and he was able to get us within $200 of some of the lower prices. We ordered the windows and Jon let us know the timeline would be 2-3 weeks. The windows came in on time and were quickly installed. The installer took time to show us how the slider egress windows work and they look amazing. The windows are sturdy and well-made and they look very expensive. We are so happy we went with this company as our experience was prompt and very efficient with them. We will use them again if needed.

Victor came out to measure and provide initial estimate. He was on time, professional and answered my questions. Window order took 2-3 weeks . He then came out at agreed day/ time to install. Removed broken window. He accepts credit card on smartphone which provided both electronic email receipt and paper agreement on the spot. Terms 1/2 up front balance after work done.

The sales person was on time, courteous and friendly. He was not at all pushy. He knew a lot about the installation process, which was important to me because I have unusual windows in an unusual house. The window was ready before the 6 week lead time they quoted me at the time I signed the contract. The installers came out very soon after the windows were ready. They removed the old window without making a big mess, which is very difficult with the old metal windows I have. They finished in about 6 hours. All of the woodwork, internal trim, external aluminum and caulking were done very professionally - and I know because I used to do this kind of work when I was younger! They did a very nice job. They cleaned everything up very thoroughly and carted all the old window pieces away. While they were working, there was no bad language or smoking or anything that showed any disrespect or forgetfulness for the fact that they were working in somebody's home. The windows themselves are beautiful. I wish I had done this a long time ago!

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service and it was fine. They came out a couple of weeks after I ;purchased the deal. It was informational to see where there were problem areas for air and heat leakage in my home.

The whole process could not have gone any better. First, we did our homework to obtain 3 quotes to get a better understanding of window quality and price. Jon was extremely responsive, punctual, and professional. Overall, Scientific had the highest price in comparison to the other quotes. But after doing some research on the reviews of the other windows, we felt that the window provided by Scientific was worth the extra cost along with the service and warranty provided. Expected delivery was 4-6 weeks and they were in within 4 if I remember. On our scheduled date, the installers were on-time, very helpful, cleaned up after the work was done, and had great attention to detail. The job took just over 1/2 day. The job included removal of old windows, installation of new windows, removal of wood rot, caulking, cleanup, and haul away. The windows look stunning and we are very excited to see how they hold up through the winter time without any drafts coming through the house. We have a few more windows to probably replace and Scientific will definitely be called again for the job.

I had 3 estimates to replace all the windows in my 100+ year old home. I went with Scientific because of the professionalism of Jon when he came out to provide an estimate. He showed me, and explained in easy to understand terms, the difference with their windows. He also went through the warranties and answered all my questions. Once I signed the contract, Jon told me to expect the windows in 6 weeks. The windows arrived earlier. The crew, of 3 men, came out and replaced all windows in one day. They also replaced the siding around the windows and you cannot see that any work was done. They cleaned up any broken glass from the old windows and the house and surrounding area was spotless. The windows & siding replacement look beautiful. The windows, themselves, are very easy to lift (glide so easy!). More importantly, I felt very confident using Scientific and know if anything goes wrong, they will stand behind their product.

Victor was very professional and saw right away what needed doing to the patio window. He explained clearly why the window was sticking and told us that to replace the patio windows would be a waste of money. But the window would not close right, so he took off a side piece, cleaned it up and adjusted it and used a drill to screw down all the screws tight. It did the trick! He did not charge us for the work he did, but I did give him a tip. He then told us what needed doing on the rest of the windows. They are old and won't stay up. A stationary picture window has mold in the seals. I asked about options and he made some very good suggestions on what would be best but not the most expensive for our living room front windows. He measured and recorded the information and I await an estimate on those. Eventually, I may have all the windows replaced (they are all close to 50 years old!) and I hope to hire Scientific for all of it.

I'm not much for spending this kind of money w/o wearing it....but our house looks great. We originally had the front part of the house windows replaced. Our 20 yr old Norco windows were rotting out. I was so impressed with the installed Marvin window results that we eventually had the whole house done. Scientific is professional and user-friendly. They were done with all the windows in the back of the house in two days. They were meticulous in cleaning up after themselves. We had some hinge problems on two of the windows that were installed on the front of the house and they responded appropriately. I am so glad we found them in Angie's List.

Everything went smoothly! They were responsive, courteous, and very professional. We will definitely use them again in the future if needed.

Victor is very knowledgeable and professional. He even took time and went over the problems with me and taught me how to maintain the windows to prevent future problems. He is the man for any window/door problems. I highly recommend him.
