+ -1 moreWe initially didn't like the placement of the mount. Once we determined that we did not specify the exact placement, they offered to move the mount and re-plaster the wall at no cost. In addition, they offered to refund our money. We decided to leave the mount as is, and move on.

+ -1 moreGary and his staff were completely professional and thorough! Gary arrived exactly on time for the estimate and was very courteous and friendly. I was impressed with their email system for the estimates and invoices and when I called to schedule the work, he was available within just a couple of days! Gary and his partner worked for 2 days in our condo. Each day they arrived exactly on time and work very efficiently. They cleaned up completely and removed all of our old fixtures. The quality of his work is superb! I would hire Gary again in an instant!
Description of Work: Remove and replace a bathroom medicine cabinet and light fixture (including repairs to the drywall and installing a new junction box for the new light fixture), re-caulk our bathtub and repair some tile grout, trim a wood support under our kitchen sink, install a blind in the kitchen, remove and install a new kitchen ceiling light fixture, and replace the water shut off valves under our kitchen sink.

+ -1 moreHired Gary's company to finish the job! Good work. Neither one of us had the correct size hoses to connect hot and cold lines and he ended up going to the hardware store, twice. And the sprayer hose doesn't smoothly come out. Minor fix that I can do on my own. Other than that, since I hired them for the 2 hour 'special' and time was running out, Carlos gave me great advise to fix other things that needed fixing. I would hire them again.
Description of Work: I tried to install a kitchen faucet myself and ran into trouble.

Description of Work: This was an Angie's List "Big Deal" offer - $79.00 for 2 hours of handyman work. The first thing the handyman (I have forgotten his name) did was ask me to show him all that I wanted done so that he had the whole picture. I recently had a new garage door installed and somehow that installation did something to the electrical system i. The handyman repaired the electrical system in the garage. That completed, I showed am an electical problem in a bedroom. He examined the problem but did not do the repair. Instead he explained that the wires were old, and given their condition, doing what I wanted done would have risked a fire. He then explained how the task could be done safely, what that would require, and I agreed to have it done in a few months. I had a back door that would not close unless slammed. The handyman repaired the door frame latch mechanism. I then showed him the bathroom sink faucet. Very little water came out. I had thought for almost a year that repairing it would require replacing the pipes, so I never had the work done. He unscrewed a piece at the end of the faucet, showed me how it was clogged, and told me to simply replace that piece. I did - cost $2.00 - and now the faucet works great. Since I know so little, he could easily have ripped me off, but he did not.

+ 0 moreThere were two tracks that needed additional anchoring, and those were done quickly. How susceptible those might be to becoming loose again, I do not know, but they are fine now. There were five sets of doors that don't really hang perfectly. One edge or another rubs agains its frame which can make it slightly difficult to pull out or which causes the doors not to close flat. The handyman made what adjustments were possible to each of these sets, but felt that what might have been required to really adjust the doors would have been to do some trimming to the edges with an an electric planer. Unfortunately, he did not have one with him that day. I was a little disappointed that the handyman did not happen to have the electric planer with him, but I may not have been really clear enough about the nature of the door problems when I spoke to him prior to his visit.
Description of Work: Before I ordered the service, I contacted the vendor to find out whether the services I needed were ones within his competence--and also whether he served this part of the city. The answers were affirmative. What I needed was to have the tracks on some hanging closet doors reattached to the concrete ceilings and also to get the doors adjusted in such a way that they would hang correctly. Access to the tracks was a little awkward. They are high; the closets were not empty; and with the doors still hanging from the tracks, drilling into the ceiling required twisting the body while holding the track in place and the drill in the right spots.

+ -1 moreThe only difficulty was initially connecting with Gary by phone, as he works with a small staff until the weather warms up. After we connected, everything went very smoothly. He ordered the screen, arrived on time, kept me updated on any changes, and did the work as agreed upon. Very polite and efficient worker. Was only not able to complete the electrical problem because he does not do "heavy" electrical, and this involved a transformer. I especially appreciated his ability to explain the issues. The other work was done very well and very cheaply, due to the coupon I had purchased. Would definitely hire Gary the Handyman again.
Description of Work: Fixed front door which was not closing on its own. Fixed some track lighting. Repaired a torn screen on a sliding door.

Description of Work: Carlos was early, established priorities from all that I wanted done, then did it swifty, efficienly and pleasantly. He got everything done and even fixed my smoke alarm which I didn't realize was losing a screw. I would call Gary's service back again in a nano second, and I've already recommended him to two of my friends. He even cleaned up the empty boxes and left my house in better shape then before he came. Making the appointment, too, on the phone was super efficient and easy. The phone companies could learn something about customer relations from this company. Do not hesitate to call this Handyman service.

They had recommended that I have my electrical panel replaced and said that they would get back to me to set up a time so that they could come back to give me an estimate but then I never heard back. I wish I had more for them to do b/c I had purchased 2 hours using the Big Deal but it only ended up taking about an hour but that's my lack of planning.

He worked diligently for over 2 hours and then explained that the latchsets were more complicated to install than anticipated. I needed to make another appointment to complete the entire job, and that was done in a very timely manner ( the following week). Carlos is returning to take care of one item that needs adjustment but again, Gary was very accommodating and responded immediately.
Description of Work: Had new latchsets/ door pulls installed and replaced downlight trim pieces. The latch sets were more complicated than he had anticipated so it took longer to install.

+ -1 moreGary's Handyman Services removed a very large, heavy cabinet from my walk in closet. Gary was very good at setting up a time and date to do the service. His times were filling up very quickly and he communicated with me to make sure the time was convienient for me. His partner, Carlos, arrived on time, just as stated. Carlos, went to work immediately on removing the monstrous cabinet. He didn't fool around or chit chat, which was appreciated since the deal stated two hours of service. The cabinet was removed without any damage to the walls, floors, or any of the surrounding areas. When he came back in, to inquire about any other work, he mentioned that the shelf in the closet wasn't attached securely. He proceeded to fix it by adding supports and added another shelf as well. There are so few handymen that are knowledable about their craft. This job was done professionally and to my high standard. I will defiinitelly be contacting Gary's Handyman Service in the near future.
