Dan generously accommodated my work schedule where I had to leave the house by 7:15 a.m., but no loud noises could be made until 8:00 a.m. per our condo building rules. I felt very comfortable leaving him and his helper alone in my home and gave him an extra key to come and go. Dan lives in my neighborhood and honestly he is so down-to-earth, I felt good about hiring a neighbor. This was another plus. The condo building I live in was built in 1967 and has quite a few quirks. I had a very uneven concrete sub-floor which has radiant heating pipes underneath as well as a large bump from a pipe that goes with the central vaccuuming system that runs through the building. .When I had carpet, I didn't realize how uneven and bumpy it was, but 3 years ago I had a handyman install Tarkett laminate flooring I had gotten at Menard's. When the handyman (not Dan) and I discovered the large and long bump from the vaccuuming system, I asked "What can we do about that?" He didn't know and I didn't know or think to research. He tried to grind it down, but that didn't work, so he installed the flooring the best that he could. His main advice to me was "Don't walk on that part. Just step over it so you don't put pressure on it. Try not to let it get wet. Just use a swiffer." Initially the Tarkett floor looked beautiful. I loved the color. But within 2-3 years it started warping and popping out all around that pipe and in the hallway. So when I decided to take the big leap to remodel my kitchen I knew I needed a new floor as well, not just in the kitchen, but the rest of the "great room." From researching on the internet, I had figured out that I needed someone who had the knowledge to use a self-leveling cement compound to even out my floors. Also, in the process of interviewing kitchen contractors, I learned about luxury vinyl plank floors, which I further researched at flooring stores and online. This seemed like a good solution as it is more flexible to minor bumps and lumps, looks like hardwood and can get wet (for cleaning or to survive flooding). All the major flooring brands make it and tile and flooring stores carry it or can order it. It's not too expensive, but like anything else there is a yucky, cheapy version all the way to a very expensive version. I got a middle of the road. Dan has lots of experience with all types and he tells me I got a good grade of flooring. When I talked to Dan and told him about the bumps and problems and he saw the floor, he right away recommended the self-leveling cement compound. He explained how it worked and how he would lay it down, dry it and then install the floor. He knew how much time it would take and how much he would need. This was the information I was looking for as my "test." I hadn't mentioned the self-leveling cement, because I wanted to see what solution DB Flooring would offer to level my floors, but the reality was I was looking for someone who was knowledgeable and experienced with this solution. Additionally he observed that the handyman who had installed my Tarkett floor had all the plank seams going straight across and that contributed to the "popping up" that I was experiencing along with my special bumps. He explained that real hardwood floor planks are installed in different lengths to make them lay better and he would do the same thing with my vinyl plank floor. He promised me that most people wouldn't even be able to tell if was not a hardwood floor. How did it end up? Dan kept all his promises. He did all the major work himself. The quailty of work was excellent. He did extra trim work around the walls to make everything look great. He went and personally picked up my flooring I had purchaed (and pre-paid for) at Century Tile along with the cement. He had to run to Home Depot to buy some trim that wasn't on new, raw walls. He went above and beyond in every way. He even had little "thank you" client gifts that were a great surprise and very smart marketing on his part. And guess what, when my girlfriends came over this past Saturday for my "kitchen housewarming" dinner party, they thought I had installed hardwood flooring! I can't wait to work with him again when I remodel my 2 bedrooms. I'm also going to look into the possibility of having him install ceramic tile in my condo association building. He's just fantastic all around! I'm glad I found him and glad he's my neighbor. Thank you Dan! I look forward to enjoying my floor for many years to come.

A pleasure to have them do work in the house. They help move furniture and made a big job easier. I will be calling DB Flooring for flooring projects in the future. Installation in main areas were satisfactory. Quality Issues in corners of closets, around doorways were large gaps occurred, as well as some door casings trimmed poorly, with large gaps and kerf marks on the door frames. Requested repair of 4 door casings, was promised repair, but after 4 reschedules, took alternate resolution steps. Was refunded the lowest estimate received for repair by the venor

Dan is very knowledgeable and professional in his business. He helped me decide the best approach in repairing my water damaged kitchen floor. His work is superb. He works with his customers to their satisfaction while trying to save them from unnecessary expense. His price is very reasonable for the craftsmanship performed.

I was remodeling a bathroom and knew that we were going for a certain style, design, and look. I got referred to DB Flooring from a friend that got work done and could not say enough good things about the work that was done. Dan, the owner, came out for an estimate, listened to what we were doing with the project and what we wanted the bathroom to look like when finished. He also had a suggestion that originally we did not consider and we incorporated into the design and it turned out great. We were working on a tight schedule for this remodel. We have two small children so the project could not be delayed. Dan was able to do the work in the timeframe that we agreed upon. As well as everyday he would clean up the work space so that it would be safe for the kids. DB Floorings, estimate was in the middle as far as price point compared to other estimates that I got. However, after speaking/meeting with Dan and the recommendation that I got from a friend, I chose DB Flooring. It was a great choice and the bathroom looks fantastic. If I do any future projects that include any kind of flooring I will be calling DB Flooring.

I found out about DB flooring through his website and I must say this was a great find. I spoke with the owner Dan and within 2 days he was out to complete the measurements and provide a price quote. I received several quotes and Dan by far beat all the other quotes. Dan advised me the job would take about 3-4 days and he was done in 3. He was very professional and delivers quality work. DB Flooring will be my first call for all my future projects. I would advise anyone looking for floor work to not pass this company up, you will not be disappointed in his customer service or quality of work. DB flooring was quick to reply to our initial phone request to come out to our home for an estimate. They set up a consultaion in a timely manner and showed up on time. Our estimate and all of our work was done by the same individual, Dan. Dan was proffesional, prompt, and meticulous in his work. We were told all work would be completed in three days and, unbelievably, all work was ACTUALLY completed in three days. We rarely experience this kind of accurate completion estimation. I personally designed one aspect of tile placement and Dan was very receptive to my ideas. He took my thoughts on how I envisioned the space and was able to make them a reality without a second thought and we could not be happier with the results. We envisioned a classic bath space in keeping with our traditional Chicago bungalow and DB flooring delivered! They not only delivered but they delivered at an extremely reasonable price (we'd triple bid the job- and DB flooring was by far the most reasonable). Our installer was professional and completely unobtrusive. We hardly even knew he was there. We can't recommend DB flooring enough. We are overjoyed with our new bathroom and we'll be using them again soon for our new master bath.
