Bell's Exterior Improvements

We had Bell's Exterior Improvements give us an estimate in April 2012 for a new metal roof and gutters. we decided that we could not afford to have a metal roof installed or a shingle roof installed either. We decided that we could roof the house ourselves for a lot less. We called Bell's and told them we were going to do the roof ourselves but, would like for them to install new gutters. The day they came for the estimate we had a very detailed conversion about what we wanted. They said to call when we had the roof done and they would come and install the new gutters. They came and installed the gutters about 2 weeks after we were done. After they were done and we paid them, it rained and we discovered that the rain was going behind the gutters not in the gutters. We called Bell's and he said it was because we had not installed new drip edge and he could not get the gutters in the right place. He said he would come out and put some kind of special caulk on it to keep the water from running behind the gutters. Mind you, we called him while it was raining and we were watching the rain run behind the gutters like a waterfall. We checked all the gutters and they were all doing it. He said he would be here in a couple of days to take care of it. He never came. I called again after a few weeks and he said he would be out on thursday, he had a dentist appointment in Geneseo and would stop on his way to fix the problem. He never showed up. I called again in a couple more weeks and got the excuse that he was installing for Lowe's and had not had any time to get here to fix the problem. He would be out in few days to fix the problem. He never showed up.another week or so went by and still no Bell's, I called again, he called my place of work and told my boss that he had lost my phone number and to call him back so he would have my number again. He called back and siad he would be out in 2 days, he never showed up. I called again, this time in the middle of a storm Saturday August 4, 2012 while I am watching the rain cascade down behind my new gutters like a waterfall and told him, that he obviously had not been here and it had been 2 weeks since the last phone call and that if he did not come and fix my gutters I was going to call my attorney and he would have to pay back the $839.00 and court fees, lawyer fees and any time we missed at work because of a possible law suit because he had had 2 months to fix this problem and he had not made any attempt to fix i. He called back the next morning Sunday August 5,2012 and said that he would be here in an hour. When he showed up he again tried to blame the problem on the drip edge. He had a bad attitude about having to come on sunday and fix this. He complained that he had been working 7 days a week and he wasn't happy that he had to come out on Sunday to finish a job. My husband told him that was his problem not ours. He told my husband that the old gutters were not under the drip edge either ,which we know is not the case. When my husband asked what they do to houses that have an existing roof on them that has not been replaced and they put new gutters on it what they do, he had no answer He also tried to say the rain water was coming over the front of the gutters not behind them. my husband told him that we had both witnessed it coming behind the gutters. He never even tried to run water on the roof to see what we were talking about. He also told my husband that he has an uncle who was a judge and that he had talked to him and that we did not have a leg to stand on, talk about blatant intimidation! He caulked the gutters and said to call him if there were any further problems. Every time I spoke with him he had some excuse and talked to me like I was just a stupid woman! I would not recommend this company to anybody!! He is also very hard to get a hold of, he never answers his phone and it takes days for him to return your messages. We have decided to have another company come and look at the gutters he installed and tell us what the real problems are. We will decide then if we are going to pursue any legal action.
