We went to Bryan's Garage because of the reviews on Angie's List and because it is fairly close to our home. We have been there for service 3 or 4 times with various issues and they have been great. When we brought our older car in for a check-up so we could give it to our son, they fixed some key items, but didn't go overboard or suggest things that weren't necessary. I feel that they are practical and use common sense and also listen to you. We have been in the area a couple of years and left behind a small garage that we completely trusted with all of our car issues. I think we've found our new garage!
Description of Work: We were giving our car to our son and wanted to have it completely checked over and do any work necessary, so it was safe and he wouldn't have to deal with any issues for awhile.

I like everything about them. I have used them for over 6 years maybe. They have always been very truthful, their prices are in line with mechanics that do volvo. He has been able to steer me towards what I need to do and what I don't need to do, and they are very professional.

The dealer wanted $120, to check out the computer program in the car. They also claimed they had to remove the tire. You can see why I went to Bryan's instead.
Description of Work: There is a light that goes in on dashboard that says I have a tire losing air. They checked it, fixed the problem while I waited. Took about 15 minutes.

My husband and I have been looking for a mechanic who was well versed in Volvos. We are no out of warranty and our current mechanic is getting up in age and seems unable to secure a heir to take over his business. So after much money and time we severed our ties with Grossinger. The service for Volvos has become unreliable and extremely expensive. All we wanted was a reliable mechanic, fair prices and service we could depend on. We began to scour the reviews for someone who first owned Volvos (or like vehicle) who had enough work done that we could compare with our potential outcome. Holding our breath we called Byran's. My husband's 2002 Volvo S80 went first. First we made a list of issues with his car and my 2001 V70. Then we took his car in first. For the S80: steering noise, window not going up, oil change, 105k service, hood lifts, light bulbs, ball joints, breather box.rotate tires, fuel filter, cabin filter For the V70, passenger door, door lock, wipers timing belt, tensor, cv boots, bushing, rear rotors.brakes. Remember the $3200 is for two cars, needing service that we got estimates for the 105k service alone to be $1500.00. And the real kicker, we are both getting about two miles per gallon better mileage for each car. With gas almost at $5.00 a gallon that is huge. The gentleman at the shop called more than once to make sure all questions were answered ,all service approved for in advance. We were told what would be if anything needed next, and the priority of the work. Byrans Garage is run by a top notch crew of professionals. Our cars are running better than each and every service performed by Grossinger. Thanks Byrant, Brent and all the mechanics at the garage. A+

Needless to say, I was very pleased. I had done some research on the Internet prior to taking my car to Bryan, and everything he told me about a timing belt replacement on my car (a 2000 Audi) the process, the parts to be replaced in addition to the belt itself, and the cost of parts and labor was consistent with what I had found on line. At no time did I get the slightest impression that he was being less than perfectly honest with me. When the time comes, I plan to take my car back to him for the timing belt job and for regular service as well.
Description of Work: In the course of doing the 60,000 mile service on my car, the dealer had told me I needed a new timing belt RIGHT AWAY and quoted me a cost of $2,500 for the job. Bryan inspected the belt and told me that it showed no signs of impending failure. He recommended that I get the belt replaced before next winter because my car is 9 years old and is still on its original belt, and he quoted me a price of $1,000.00. He charged me at his shop rate for the time he spent doing the inspection.

Bryan is a nice fellow, and a straight shooter. The car was done on time, and he knows the issues. Not much guess work, so I have not had unnecessary work done (like other places). He investigates scientifically, uses the right parts, and charges reasonable cost. Not the cheapest, but so far everything has been done on time and done right the first time. I have a car with quirky electrical and sensor problems at times, and he knew the cheaper things to try first.
Description of Work: Fixed hood release, changed oil, replaced battery and replaced tie rod. These actually were done on a couple visits, not all at once.

I've been taking both of our cars (a 96 Honda civic and a 99 Nissan Altima) to Bryan for 2 years now (since we moved here). I just can't say enough about him. He's thorough, very reasonably priced, and really really good at explaining everything. He's also very good at figuring out, as another reviewer put it, 'oddball problems'. I've referred 2 friends to him. And don't get me wrong, when he fixes something, it's fixed. He will always look for the best way to fix it, too - if you're looking for economy (for example, on my 96 Honda, I don't want to put in new parts if I can help it), he'll search for a used part (and usually find one). Mechanics are one of those things that wherever you live, you really want to find one you can trust - Bryan's that guy. Office staff are also great - as are the other mechanics.
Description of Work: Bryan has done a lot of work for us: replaced ball joint, air conditioning, weird noises, & brakes etc.

BRYAN IS A GREAT MECHANIC. VERY THOROUGH AND GOOD AT FIGURING OUT ODDBALL PROBLEMS. HE IS A VERY NICE PERSON AND TREATS THE CUSTOMER (FEMALES INCLUDED) WITH GREAT RESPECT. HIS PRICES ARE FAIR FOR THE AMOUNT OF WORK THAT IS DONE AND HE WILL SHOW AND EXPLAIN EACH AND EVERY REPAIR HE HAS DONE IN GREAT DETAIL. HIS SLOGAN IS 'OLD TIME SERVICE FOR A HIGH TECH WORLD' AND I FEEL HE REALLY LIVES UP TO THAT PROMISE! THE OTHER MECHANIC WORKING THERE IS VERY HELPFUL TOO. I AM ALMOST RELUCTANT TO POST THIS, SINCE I KNOW THAT IF HE GETS TOO BIG TOO FAST, IT'LL MEAN A LONGER WAIT FOR ME TO GET SERVICE, BUT THAT'S OK. A GREAT LOCAL MERCHANT.
Description of Work: THEY DID A COMPLETE 60K MILE CHECK-UP ON A VERY PROBLEMATIC SAAB 9-5. THE LIST OF THINGS THAT WERE INSPECTED AND REPLACED IS ABOUT 4 INCHES LONG (AS I KNEW IT WOULD BE SINCE IT HAD BEEN A LONG TIME SINCE THE CAR HAD HAD COMPLETE SERVICE) AND INCLUDED THINGS LIKE TRANSMISSION FLUID, BRAKE FLUID, SPARK PLUGS, AIR FILTER, A DIFFICULT-TO-ACCESS 'CABIN FILTER', FUEL FILTER, ABOUT 5 LIGHT BULBS, ETC. PARTS WERE $212.00 AND LABOR WAS $413.00. MOST $ PART WAS A DRIVE BELT WHICH CAME FROM SAAB (ALWAYS EXPENSIVE).
