Tom's Locksmith Skokie

It went very well. Tom came out about 10 days prior and gave us a free estimate. He was kind enough to look over a potential job for our front door and gave us an estimate for that job as well. We communicated through email, and he was very generous with his time in accommodating my schedule, I'm an attorney so it can get difficult. I ended up adding the change of the deadbolt at the last second, and he performed the change easily. The job was done well and professionally.

EXCELLENT. Tom probably expected to change keys for 2 other neighbors and fix the front door in a 2 hour time frame. When he realized the problem with the front door, he stayed until it was fixed. He was here from 10 A.M until 5:30. He didn't complain and made sure we were safe.

Tom was wonderful! I called him early on a Tuesday morning with hopes that he could change the locks of our newly acquired bungalow that day. Tom came through with flying colors. We set a time for that evening. Tom called at the time of our set appointment to say he was running a little late. When he arrived (within minutes of when he said he would), he came ready to work. Tom is knowledgeable, efficient and friendly. We would definitely use him again.

Very well. Tom was very responsive, offering to come out the day I called. I didn't need the work done right away, so we scheduled for a few days later. He was on time, courteous, quick and thorough.

Called Tom and asked him to come out for an estimate. He was really nice and came out the next afternoon. Stayed in contact with me letting me know where he was and about when he would arrive. Showed him our concerns (we're a 6 unit condo building) regarding the work above. He made some suggestions that were appropriate. E-mailed me an estimate that evening. Was patient with me as I ran it by the condo association treasurer and got it approved. Made the appointment with him to do the work. He came out and did exactly what we asked. Amazing! Not only is he good at what he does, he's a nice guy to deal with. I would recommend him anytime. If you're checking this list, then you are obviously doing your homework---let me save you some time. Call Tom! For the first time in a long while, our building feels secure!

Tom was a pleasure to work with and provided great service and work from start to finish. He was able to come out within two days of my initial call to assess the needs for our sliding door and some other questions I had in the house we just recently moved into. He explained what he would do and that he would need to order a new handle for the door. He promised to get back to me by e-mail within a few days with an estimate and details on the status of ordering the handle. I received an e-mail promptly, had him order the part, and then heard back from him again as soon as the part was in his shop. He again promptly came out to the house to do the work, which was done quickly and very well. All for a very fair price. I would highly recommend Tom and will certainly call him again when I need a locksmith.

Tom had been out to the building two weeks prior and had fixed another lock and re-keyed a lock that was stuck. The door knob of this lock had broken off (It was very old). The door knob breaking had nothing to do with Tom's work at all. He came out the day that I called him. Tom took the whole locking mechanism apart and found that a screw had fallen in and was blocking the lock from working. He took the screw out, put the lock back together, and put on a new door knob. When he finished, he cleaned up and said, "No charge." Although I tried to pay him he wouldn't take any money. As with my previous experiences with Tom, he was professional, detail oriented, and quick. I will recommend him to anyone who is looking for a locksmith!

Tom was very prompt and courteous; was knowledgeable about the product he was servicing. For example he did not charge me for a new lock, he already knew he could order a complete door lock for free. A week later, I called him to come back and readjust the lock and he came over in minutes and there was no extra charge. In the future, I will always use Tom's Lock Service.

Excellent service and reasonable price. Didn't try to sell stuff I didn't need. All around fabulous experience. Great follow up.

Very well. Responded promptly to a voicemail message. Easy to schedule. Checked to see if I was available earlier, though was very willing to come at the agreed-upon time. Very workmanlike. Made extra keys we needed. Highly recommended.

Tom did an amazing job. His quote was shockingly low compared to what I had received from other people and although he didn't over engineer as the other bidders tried to, he did have a problem with the lock mechanism that came with the new hardware. He called the hardware company and actually had the owner come out, deliver a new one, and the job was finished the same day. This was one of the best experiences I have ever had with a service professional. Also, he answered the phone or returned every call within 10 minutes and he came out the next day when I called to set the appointment.

Tom returned my call, on a Saturday, within minutes, and came to our house within the hour. The lock change was also accomplished in minutes, and the bolt works perfectly!

Tom did a great job. The locks work great and don't freeze like the locks he replaced.

I called Tom to get a quote on a new front door knob for my condo building in order to satisfy a building violation. The condo association also wanted some additional lock work done, so Tom came out to assessed the buildings needs. We needed the new front door knob, but also wanted an automatic door closer on the front door for security purposes and then wanted to re-key all the external knobs so we only needed one key for all outside doors. Tom came out and we walked through the building and he explained all the options along the way. Once we decided on the new front door knob, he was able to give me options for the re-keying the rest of the doors. Two knobs just needed new cylinders to match the front door, but two others needed new knobs entirely. Once all the knobs were keyed to match, Tom then made us 30 keys for all the residents. The entire job, start to finish took about 3 hours.

I spoke directly with Tom. He provided an estimate over the phone (which was comparable to the competition). I selected Tom's because of their early morning hours. The repair was quick and Tom was very friendly.

Tom is awesome! He is very nice over the phone and just as nice in person. He showed up on time with everything he needed to fix what we discussed over the phone. We talked about installing a new deadbolts when he got here and after he said he would do it we changed our minds and he didn't pressure us at all. Simply said call me when you need me! Solid guy!

Excellent. Tom even suggested I get the knobs myself to save a few dollars which was great. I have no complaints. And he even offered to come out again if I had any problems.

Tom arrived as expected. I liked his demeanor instantly, a quiet professional. The locks were installed and cleanup was done. His perfomance and expertise were great.

One evening, my doorknob/lock suddenly stopped working (it would open and stick). I took it apart and tried to oil it with WD40 but only made it worse. I think the mechanism was broken. I was selling my house and the inspector was coming the next day so I wanted it fixed before he got there. It was too late to call anyone when I discovered the problem, but I went to Angie's List and found Tom. I called at 8:00 the next moring and Tom was at my house by by 9:30. He replaced the knobs and rekeyed them to match the other locks in the house and was finished in less than 1/2 hour. What more could you ask for? He saved the day for me.

Like all of his other reviews on Angie's List, Tom did fabulous work for us. He worked the entire morning on our house, making sure everything worked to his liking (and ours) and was secure. He even suggested ways we could improve security through reinforcement or replacement of doors, etc. The price seemed reasonable for the amount of work he did for us, though I have no basis for comparison. He provided all hardware.

Tom was efficient and cost effective at re-keying all of the locks throughout our home and garage. Some new locks were needed to replace locks which could not be re-keyed and Tom found appropriate replacements quickly which were reasonable. When we need a locksmith in the future, we will definitely call Tom.

I left Tom a message, and he called back within 30 minutes. He was able to accommodate my schedule. He arrived right on time. He gave us choices for differently priced locks. He was courteous and cleaned up after himself. He worked diligently on making sure the locks fit perfectly. He also said to give him a call if we have any problems.
