Marco came to the unit on the appointment date. He was on time. He did the work, he was very clean and protected the area he was not working in. When the work was done I was extremely satisfied. My tile and the grout areas looked nearly new. In areas where grout had been missing or damaged repairs had been made. It looked just great. Everything was done as the company said it would be done, there was no mess and the technician was very polite and pleasant. I am going to have them work on the rest of the tile flooring in my unit. I highly recommend the company.
Description of Work: I have a condo unit with ceramic tile in several rooms, including the bathroom and shower. The unit was constructed some time ago and the tile and the grout had become dirty and dull and would not respond to normal cleaning products. I heard about Sir Grout and had their technician, Marco, come to the unit to tell me what could be done and give a cost estimate. The company proposed to apply its processes to the tile cleaning and rejuvenating the tile. The bid for the bathroom and shower area was $500. I accepted the bid.

I used Sir Grout twice. The first time was on a rental unit. After tenants left after living for two years in a rental unit, my wife and I were horrified to find the tiling and bath in the brand new remodeled bathroom incredibly filthy and full of mold and soap scum, Sir Grout came with two workmen and cleaned for hours. They used a super hot steam machine to completely clean all grout surfaces, and they removed all mold, grime and other dirt. Then they sealed all grout with some sealant which matched the existing grout, The workmen were on time, pleasant, worked very hard for a long time, and my wife and I were extremely pleased with the result. It still looks perfect after three years. I don't recall the cost for that job but I felt it was not unreasonable. The second time we needed work on a very high end remodeled large shower area in our home, we foolishly thought this was easy work and hired another company to do the work, which would have saved us a few bucks. Even though it was a pretty large job, a workman came alone, was nasty from the start, had a steam machine that sounded very weak, left work undone, and then had an attitude about doing it right. Afterwards, we noticed all kinds of problems for which the same workman had to come out again. In the end, sealant was falling off because the grout had not been properly cleaned before sealing (putting sealant over soap scum we believe), and mold was starting to grow under areas where he put in caulking which has never existed previously. Sir Grout was hired to fix the mistakes. I was able to take pictures and send them to Dan, the estimator, and Sir Grout later came with two workmen again, who worked hard for a long time, and fixed almost everything. They even left me with a free sample of sealant to repair any future sealant problems. I say almost everything was fixed because the things that were not completely fixed were things that still looked okay from the first contractor, and the workmen and I both thought they might remain intact from the first contractor's work, but in the end did not. Still, Dan's firm and Dan himself, contacted me about the job, and I acknowledged to him that it was me who had suggested his workmen not to do the extra work, but he still offered to have them come out anyway to fix even those problems. To me this is the mark of a company that takes pride in its work. I would definitely hire them again.

The job was done in a timely and professional manor and everything was cleaned up after they left.. It took about an hour and the price was fair.
Description of Work: Steam cleaning and patching of grout in the shower in the master bathroom. The year before they had also done a regrout, recaulking and replacement of some shower tiles, and they did such a good job that Ihad them come back to do the steam cleaning and other maintenance work.

Dan was on time, professional, and cleaned up after his work. I have had no problems since, after five years of issues. I would absolutely use his services again, and highly recommend him.
Description of Work: I had had numerous problems with the grouting in my bathroom. Especially between the tub and the wall, the grouting would go black with mould, I would scour it to clean it and the grouting would just disintegrate leaving a nasty gap between tub and wall that let water in and caused damp. Numrous contractors came into fix this problem and none of them did. Dan fixed the problem first time. He used special grout that deters mould and it is still as clean and more importantly, as intact now as it was the day he fixed it. I would highly recommend him and his services. He was clean, professional, and on time. I would absolutely use him again.

Both of our two bathrooms are small and after over ten years of use (two adults and two kids) they had developed some funky mildew on the grout of bathroom tile shower walls. As well, the grout on the tile floors was old, looked worn and needed something. We called Dan at Sir Grout who came over, gave us some options, and provided us with an estimate. He was on time, professional, and clearly knew his business. And as we felt his quoted price was very reasonable, we opted to have the walls of the bathroom showers "re-grouted", and the floors cleaned up and the floor grout cleaned and "re-colored" (really cool process where they change the color of the grout...without having to take out the old grout). They kind of clean and cover the old grout up with a new color (or the same original color if you want)...but it works...one year later and we're still very satisfied. The Sir Grout technician (Mitch I believe) was great. On time, very neat and clean, polite and professional. In addition to the grouting, Mitch "re-siliconed" every where in the bathroom with nice clean white silicon. This has also held up very well...one year later. We also were given some touch color stuff...although we haven't needed it. And, we purchased some PH neutral grout and tile cleaner from them...which I would recommend. It seems expensive (like $45 for a gallon), but it's concentrated, so one year later I think we've used maybe around 1/2 of it...and we use it all the time to clean the bathrooms. Really great stuff. I would highly recommend Sir Grout & Dan, Mitch to anyone who's looking for the highest quality of professional services in tile cleaning/rehab and or refurbish. Thanks to them our bathrooms look great and my only regret is that I should have taken before and after pictures.

Dan was very prompt and professional during the estimate process and he also contacted us approximately 6 months later to ask if the work still looked good. The gentleman that performed the work was also very professional, and explained what he was doing during the process and after cleaning up, he made sure we were satisfied. I had attempted to do some of this work myself earlier, but if needed again, I will contact Sir Grout.
Description of Work: Our grout was discolored in our marble shower and bathroom floor. We decided that the grout and caulking needed to be refreshed and in addition we had the glass door plastic seal piece replaced.

Where to begin . . . The individual arrived on time to review the work to prepare the estimate but that was about the only positive event of the whole experience. The quote that was received was for acrylic caulk in the stand-up shower versus the existing sanded grout. I called to discuss the differences and was told they would re-issue the quote to use sanded grout instead of acrylic for no additional charge. After 45 minutes had past beyond the time on the day scheduled for the repairs, I called the office to see if anyone was on their way or if there had been a mix-up in the scheduling. I was assured that someone was on their way and an individual did arrive 10 minutes later almost FULL HOUR LATE. He began to work quickly but was taking short-cuts in an obvious effort to get back on schedule. But it was very frustrating for our work quality to suffer because he was not timely. He moved to the 2nd floor having forgotten the kitchen sink. When I reminded him of this, he went back down begrudgingly. I reviewed the work and noticed spots where the caulk had bubbled (and later popped) now creating new area for mold growth. As he began to prep the shower stall, he asked what color of acrylic caulk I preferred. A nice gesture, however, I showed him the revised quote detailing that sanded grout rather than acrylic was to be used. He said that he "did not have time to cut out everything for sanded grout" but could use a textured acrylic which would come close. Already at my witts end I agreed. HOWEVER he then realized that he did not have the product and needed to go our to Home Depot. Approximately 30-45 minutes he returned with a very unpleasant attitude. About 45 minutes into the shower work I went to check on the status as he was now 1.5 hours beyond the estimated completion time I had been given and was still not done. I then noticed that one of the tiles had been cracked. When I pointed this out to him he became EXTREMELY ANGERED and said "are you saying I did this?!" "I need to go to my next job so you wuill need to schedule a separate time and pay for this repair separately" Feeling threatened I indicated that I was going to call his office (as well as my husband) as the estimator could verify that there were no cracked tiles and that this needed to be repaired now. The office indicated that they would call him and the tile would be fixed. After the shower work had been done (BUT not completed as there remain moldy areas but I just wanted this man out of my house as my nanny was now home and she did not feel comfortable with him there) he came down and showed a bill that did not reflect the deposit payment. Our nanny called us immediately as she had personally hand delivered the deposit and therefore new it had been received. The man refused to speak to me on the phone but in the background I could here him slam the invoice on the counter top and state to our nanny "tell her (which was me) the office will call her to discuss". A few weeks went by and we never heard from Sir Grout nor received an adjusted invoice or bill. While our family was away for spring break, I was alarmed to get several voicemails from Sir Grout indicating that our payment was past due and needed to be collected. I immediately called them and clarified that we had not received a revised bill to correctly reflect the balance owed. The amount was given to me over the phone and I indicated that we would pay right away (as we wanted to permanently end our experience with the is company). To our shock we subsequently received a collection notice impacting our credit. As a result, we will be seeking action against this company. However, this is the benefit of being an Angie's list member, to get others insights before you too become a victim!

Response from Sir Grout Chicago
[member name removed], I am very sorry for the issues with the work. The technician that was on this job was fired from my company for his actions on this job site, this type of behavior is not tolerated in my company. A full refund and a visit from the owner to resolve any issues, fix the work, and cracked tile has been offered to this customer via email and voice mail. We always encourage our customers to call in with any issues with the work and we are happy to resolve them. If the issue is not brought to our attention then we cannot resolve the problem until it is. We perform follow up calls after jobs are completed to ensure the work is completed to customers satisfaction but not all customers answer or return these calls. In regards to payment my assistant did try to contact you for over a month before receiving any response. Our technician had been told on site that the bill was paid in full. Our first phone call following up on this job was also answered and told that the job was paid in full although only a deposit had been given. During this time I asked my assistant to call and discuss payment with you since there may have been a misunderstanding. I had her call once a week to follow up with you since you may have been busy or not had time to respond. After it had been 2 months overdue our system automatically sends a payment notice. This will not effect your credit and has not involved a collection agency but is just a notice that payment is due and requests a phone call to discuss why the invoice is still unpaid. Once you called back after a few weeks and told my assistant of your experiences with my company she alerted me of the issues faced, and I reached out to you that day and offered to come by personally and fix any issues and refund your money as I do not want any customers to feel like they were mistreated by my company. I still have not received a call back from my message and I have left another voice mail again today. I will do anything in my power to make this experience better for you and would be willing to refund the money paid for the job since our company did not hold up our part of the contract.. Please give me a call or respond to my email and let me solve your issues. I hate to have anyone feel negatively towards my company. It is my top goal in business to please my customers, to keep my customers satisfied, and to provide exceptional service. I started this business to solve customers issues and provide great service. Although there have only been a few calls in 6 years about issues with work, I want to solve that issue as quickly as possible to put the customer, like you, at ease.

Dan came out, described the process and answered all of my questions with great confidence. He was very pleasant, professional and knowledgeable. We set a date for the service work. The servicemen arrived on time, we did a quick recap of the work that we wanted and they began the pep work for the job. After the kitchen floor was cleaned, our serviceman, Justin, called us in to the kitchen to select the grout color, he suggested a slightly different grout color than what was originally there and it looked great. A few hours later the kitchen and bathrooms were done. They looked fantastic just like they were brand new!!!!!!! They made sure that everything was clean and put back in order. From start to finish we were very pleased with Sir Grout and would happily recommend them to our family and friends!

When they initially came out, I was ready to do the work laid out above - shower cleaning and a few minor shower installations. The second time they came out John from Sir Grout started telling me about how I needed to replace the rest of the tile in my bathroom. That is when I told them I needed to get other estimates because I was not prepared for the additional costs. A member of their office, Anne, started calling me saying they have the work scheduled, started asking me what is going on and when can they come in, and that they had put this time aside for me. I told her, I don't know why you did because I am looking for other bids at this time. Later on, John called me about a 3rd meeting at my house, I did not tell them I wanted them to come out again, because he wanted another member of their staff to take a look at my bathroom for some reason. After that visit, Dan called again starting with the same spiel Anne gave me, "when can expect to get started on the work..." etc. Again, I told him I wanted other bids and was waiting to hear back from other servicers. I received similar calls from Dan at least two more times. I finally asked for my money back, I had made up my mind that I did not want to work with them. That is when Dan said to me, "We will need to charge you because they had come out to your house three times," and it was never made clear that I was paying for those consultations especially they 3rd where THEY CALLED ME and told me that they needed to come out! Now they wanted to charge me for it. I had never agreed to work with them. However, I CAN say that they gave me my money back promptly. In my opinion Sir Grout is a bunch of crooks. I do not appreciate being harassed and roped in to work I did not ask for. THIS BY THE WAY IS THE SECOND VERSION OF MY REVIEW. WHEN I INITIALLY POSTED, THEY CALLED ME AND TOLD ME THAT MY INITIAL POST WAS MISLEADING. So, I made a point to clearly note my experience with Sir Grout.
Description of Work: All I wanted was to have done was tile cleaning, some caulking, installation of a soap dish, new manual showerhead installation and new towel bar. Sir Grout added cleaning of all bathroom floor tile, and all the rest of the tile in the bathroom for $985.00, and offered a $100.00 off for being an Angie's List member bringing the total to $885.00. That was for: Clean and Colorseal shower tile = $364.00 Caulking = $195 Clean and Colorseal bathroom floor (I did not ask for this) = $100.00 Cleaning of rest of bathroom tile (did not ask for this) = $176.00 Installation of soap dish, towel bar, and shower head and manual shower head = $150.00 Total: $985.00 - $100.00 discount = $885.00 Again, I just wanted my shower tile cleaned, a few tiles replaced, and the soap dish, showerhead and manual showerhead, and towel bar installed. Ecosteam cleaned my shower for $125.00 Handyman Pro did all tile installation and shower amenity installation plus caulking for $413.00 - AND Handyman Pro even installed an overhead light/fan/heater fixture in the bathroom, and installed a range hood in my kitchen. Again that was all for $413.00 My total with Ecosteam and Handyman Pro came out to $538.00. THAT WAS ALL I WANTED. I saved $350.00.

We purchased our house in 2008 and wanted to do something with the tile flooring in the kitchen and three bathrooms. The expense/ investment/ general upheaval was the main deterrent to pulling the trigger on these projects. Through perusing Angie's list, I stumbled upon Sir Grout's process which was new to me. After reading the reviews and watching an video advertisement, I scheduled to have Dan come out to provide a quote. Dan provided a detail quote for the work and reviewed the process - this took about and hour and half. A bit long, but he was on a roll. When we scheduled the cleaning and grout work to be done, we made some modifications from the original quote (we decided not to do the tile surround in one of the bathrooms) which was no problem for them to modify. It took about 4 hours to do the work and we couldn't be happier. It really does look like we got a new kitchen floor when it was all said and done. Also, at the time I forgot to give them my Angie's List coupon for 10% off. When I call, they accepted by coupon over the phone and sent me a check. Professional service all around.

Dan came out initially & gave a comprehensive estimate of the entire job. Everything was spelled out and very clear as to pricing and work involved. No surprises. Scheduling seemed to be a problem. I did not know who was going to show up on what day. I think this was just an idiomatic thing because of number of bathrooms and different issues with drying especially in the master bath where work could not commence until basin was finished. They were always very responsive to issues and responded in a timely fashion. All the workers were very professional, polite, pleasant and knowledgeable in their area. Each day when they finished, the area was completely cleaned up. John, one of their more senior employees (length of service not age), always called when he was on his way and I really appreciated this. John also had a wealth of knowledge of everything relating to tile and general construction. I never believed anything could be done with my grody master shower. The refinishing on the basin left it dazzling! All the grout work is just beautiful. I am so glad I finally made the call to get this work done. It was expensive, but was also labor intensive due to the age of the tile and bathrooms. I highly recommend this company and their work.

Thank you for business and for your review of my company Member. I apologize for the scheduling mix up. We did have some late changes in our schedule due to issues we ran into with the basin refinishing needing additional attention. I did email you with an update on the arrival times and changes but I should have followed up with a phone call as well. Thank you for the feedback as we will use it to improve our business going forward.

I just purchased high rise condo and wanted to rework the grout in the bathrooms and kitchen before my household goods arrived. Dan answered inquiry promptly, scheduled appointment and visited site for estimate. The estimate was detailed with what work would be completed, the products to be used and transparent pricing. He explained the risks and benefits of completing each project component, presented a menu of options and left everything behind for me to consider. There was no high pressure or commitment necessary on the spot. The crew was professional, completed all of the work as defined and left the place spotless. I would definitely use them again and I give them two thumbs up as a referral to others!

The grout in my shower had been cracked for some time. The developer put a layer of caulk over to prevent water getting in but over time became black. I replaced with similar calk thing but had the same issue. I called Sir Grout who came over and gave me options for replacing it. I went with the epoxy grout and it looks great. They also refinished my shower floor. I learned the hard way what vinegar does to natural stone. They both look great. Sir grout did an awesome job.

The owner, Dan Lundstedt, came out to provide an estimate the day after I called. He was very friendly, provided very reasonable advice, and did not push any unnecessary services. In our master bathroom steam shower, the grout lines became covered in resistant mildew despite regular cleaning. You will need to pay a deposit of 25% of the estimate to hold a date for the work, paid by check. First available date to do the work was about a week. Two workmen did the work. They steam cleaned and removed the mildew with razor blades, then colorsealed and recaulked with epoxy (which should be more resistant to mildew) - now it looks like new! They also steam cleaned and colorsealed downstairs shower/bath, sealed a large granite counter, and recaulked the kitchen sink. Price above is what I paid after 10% Angie's List coupon was applied. The workers were very polite and explained what they were doing at every step. They worked from about 8:30 to 5:30 with a 30 min lunch break. Dan was also very responsive. Our original quote included one item that the workmen decided did not need to be done, but we forgot to remove that when settling the bill. I emailed Dan that I overpaid, and he mailed me a check for the difference. Overall, I'm very pleased with the entire experience. Unfortunately, as the owner of three travertine bathrooms, I will inevitably need this service again - but at least I know who to call!

Overall we were pleased with the service of Sir Grout. Their pricing seemed a little high but we were in a hurry to get the work done so we did not shop price at all. Our main complaint would be related to missing an appointment. They had a truck breakdown apparently and not only failed to show up on time but failed to call to advise that they were going to be late. Ultimately they missed their appointment and we had to reschedule. However, the actual work done and the professionalism of the crew was very high so we were very satisfied once we got over the scheduling problem. We plan to use them again to work on a smaller bath so that speaks to our satisfaction.
Description of Work: We had our master bath tile floor and walls and shower enclosure steamed cleaned and then sealed. Some of the shower door seals had mold so those were replaced as well. We also had some old caulk removed and replaced in the bath. Finally we had the kitchen ceramic counter top cleaned and sealed.

Thank you for your feedback. I apologize for the issue on the original service date. When our van had issues my technician was trying to handle the problem instead of calling myself or you to let you know he was running late. I apologize for the break down in our communication and any inconvenience caused by it. For your inconvenience I would be happy to offer a discount on your next service, since we have discussed scheduling your next bathroom in a month or so. I appreciate you sticking with my company even though we let you down on the first appointment. I want to make sure you get a discount to make up for our mistake and keep you as a customer for years to come.

I found Sir Grout on Angie's List and decided to give them a try. The shower in my main bathroom was built in the 1920's and I wanted to preserve the beautiful old tiles, fill in the decaying grout, and eliminate numerous pockets of mold that had made a home there. Sir Grout professionally steam cleaned the entire tile surface destroying the mold and then regrouted the tile caulking completely around where the tile meets the wall. The final process, applying the clear seal, was done and my shower looked like new - you could even see sparkles when the light hit it! It's now December and the shower still looks great - even the mold has failed to return! My thanks to Sir Grout for the excellent professional job that they performed.

The gentleman who came out was very professional and pleasant. They are usually booked 2 to 3 weeks out. They require a 25% deposit to hold the date. Their estimate included a 10% discount. Shower #1 = 50 s.f. Estimated $425 to clean, sanitize and seal. Shower #2 = 47 s.f. Estimated $378.50 Total $803.50 We did not choose this company because they wanted to do more than we needed right now. We plan to re-do these bathrooms within a few years and just wanted them thoroughly cleaned. The company we decided to hire charged $250 to do a simple cleaning and re-grout a few areas, which is all we wanted. I am sure this is a fine company and would consider for more serious needs.

Member, Thank you for the feedback. I just wanted to clarify the difference in the quote you received. Your quote included re-caulking of the showers, cleaning re-grouting, and then permanently colorsealing the grout lines. This process restores the showers to look like new, and seal them that way, guaranteed. Thank you for your consideration and keep us in mind for a more permanent solution in the future.

The service was beyond excellent, because the technician called before he arrived. The supervisor arrived mid-job to check on the status of the job. The technician himself was very professional. The work itself was excellent. I would recommend them highly. I have actually received an estimate from them to do more extensive work on our bathroom. We were very pleased with their price as well.
Description of Work: They removed the grout and replaced the grout in our bathroom. They also cleaned up the tub.

After purchasing a condo, we had a considerable amount of work we wanted done prior to move in. It was important to us to have competent and responsive contractors. Additionally, since we were not living there at the time, each contractor had to be admitted by the staff at the building. The tile was one of the ugliest parts of the condo, and I honestly didn't think it could ever look good, but we decided to have it cleaned rather than replaced, both because of cost and the disruption that tile replacement would cause. The grout was black from years of neglect. I chose Sir Grout because of the excellent recommendations on Angie's list. Dan Lundstedt, the owner, responded quickly to my request for a proposal. We made an appointment for Dan to see the tile. He arrived on time, with color samples for the color seal of grout lines and all the necessary equipment for measuring and giving the estimate. Dan had his laptop and a small printer and was able to give us a printed estimate on the spot.On the day the work was to be done, Alex, the technician arrived on time to begin cleaning. He also had various examples of color seal for the grout, and put some of each on the floor so we could choose the one we liked best. It took us a while to decide, but Alex was patient while we made our decision. He also had a paint like covering for repairing any nicks in the tile. After choosing the appropriate color, we left Alex in the condo to complete the work. Alex had a lot of area to cover and it was a warm day prior to the time the air conditioning was turned on in the building. Despite that, we arrived back at the time Alex told us he would be finished, and I was very pleasantly surprised at the excellent results. It looked like new tile with a nice clean grout. I didn't have to feel bad about ugly tile any more. Alex also provided us with some grout sealer and explained how to keep the tile clean. The final bill was exactly what Dan had given us on the estimate. Having no basis for comparison I don't know how the price may have compared with other companies, but I was so happy with the results that I feel the price was worth it.I would recommend Sir Grout to friends.

In my case, exremely well, and I would certainly use Sir Grout for a full project any time in the future.
Description of Work: I have a ceramic tiled bathroom that had developed some tiles damaged at the bottom of the wall and I wanted to repair the cracked sections (small cut tile segments at the very bottom of the wall). I did not know the original installer, so I proceeded to shop for several pieces of matching ceramic tile to the job myself. I found a good match at a retail tile outlet and bought several pieces, then I had to find someone to cut my pieces into several narrow strips that could be sed for replacement. Retail tile specialists were of no use; they use outside installers and don't give out their names. I looked up ceramic tile contractors with similar results, they either don't cut tile on their premises or the job is too small for them to be interested. I called Sir Grout on a Saturday and, unlike the others, received a courteously response; my message was taken and I was told my call would be returned. On Monday morning I received a call from the owner of Sir Grout, I explained my need and he said I could go to a location nearby my home where is crew was working that afternoon and they would do what was needed. I drove to the location and there was the Sir Grout truck; one of the crew almost immediately trimmed the two ceramic pieces I needed for patching. They even provided me with the small amount of grout powder I needed, when mixied with water, for my small job. I asked how much I owned them and they said "Nothing, compliments of Sir Grout." The patching went perfectly and I couldn't be more pleased. A well performed finished job is of first importance in any contracted project. But installers who exhibit a cooperative, friendly attitude and go the extra mile to insure complete customer satisfaction is equally valuable. The Sir Grout crew certainly demonstrated that kind of attitude, even when there was no significant payment for them involved.

Very good, did an excellent job. They were right on time; showed up when they said they would be here. Very professional. It was one individual that handled everything. He did not harm the surroundings of the work. Showed additional color selections as options, but we decided to go back to original grout line. When the work was done it looked like it was brand new like when the house was built.
Description of Work: Clean and color tiles in kitchen and bathroom floors, tile repair on 7 tiles that had to be replaced; shower steam clean and dry and color seal the grout line; caulking the shower joints and killing off any mold and mildew.
