The Service from Sir Grout on Clybourn was amazing. First the sales person was efficient and answer all our questions. The technicians who did the work were neat and clean. Since we had two bathrooms they had to come out twice. Each time was done in a professional manner. After 16 years our bathrooms look new and we are now ready to paint. We are looking forward to using them to clean and seal the granite on our fire place and kitchen counters.

All work was completed in accordance with what was discussed with the salesman. The employees showed up on time and completed the work within the original time estimate provided. The results were excellent. They turned dingy grout into what looked like the original grout at tile installation. The employees were professional and the job performed was neat and clean. It's only been a month since the job was performed, however, it appears that the grout is truly sealed and continues to look new. We purchased the cleaning solution they recommended. Unfortunately, the bottle had a small split which leaked on the counter. No big deal except when I tried to get this replaced. It's been approximately a month since I reported the issue with no replacement cleaning solution provided. I called Sir Grout twice and was told that they would drop off a bottle. Yesterday, I sent an email to Ann requesting a refund with no response. It's too bad that the fine job they performed is being over-shadowed by poor customer service over a $40 bottle of cleaning solution.

They were suppose to be at my house at 8:30. There was a glich in the scheduling and they did not arrive until about 12:30. They were very apologetic. I spoke with the owner of the company the following day and he could not have been nicer. My floors looked AWESOME and are much easier to take care of.

The work on this job was more than anyone anticipated at the start. We had a leak underneath our tile. We had to remove and replace all of the grout in the shower, remove and replace 1/2 of the tiles on the floor. We had a little issue that the sales rep, Ann, smoothed out. She was there on every detail, making sure all issues were covered, as agreed. All involved did a great job to make our bathroom look beautiful again! We would use them again and we would recommend them to others.

We did not engage them as $300 was excessive for re-caulking a bathtub
Description of Work: Very pleasant woman answered the phone but informed me that they have a $350 minimum and so my minor bathroom caulking would be best handled by a handyman. Just wish their website and their angieslist page stated that. I would not have called them. Wish they could have pointed me to a handyman ! They had great reviews so I was hoping they would do my small job.

[removed member name] Thank you for your review. I am not sure why you have given my company a bad review. Your only experience with my company was a pleasant phone call in which you were notified of our minimum price. We do this to keep customers from wasting their valuable time when they have projects that fall outside of our scope. Simply re-caulking often is only one step towards cleaning and repairing a shower. If you chose only to re-caulk a single shower, a handy man would be your best choice. We do not have recommendations of handymen because our referral handymen are completely booked right now due to the busy time of year of home repairs. Please let us know if you have a grout and caulking project in the future. I assure you we will offer much longer lasting solutions than re-caulking alone.

I received a message the day before the scheduled service, informing me that they had to return to a different job the next morning to finish a job that they didn't complete that day. I called to confirm that a delayed start would be fine. The appointment was originally scheduled for 9, and the delayed start was to be 10. I called and spoke with Dan the morning of to confirm that the job could still be completed in one day, and that the delayed starting time would not necessitate another day of work. He assured me it would be completed in one day. I left to run an errand, and when I returned at 9:15, I was surprised to see a technician waiting outside. He was waiting for the second technician to arrive, and was surprised when I informed him of the delayed start time. Thus began a back and forth of lack of communication between the techs, the office, the owner, and me that would last all day. I repeatedly asked if the job could still be completed by 5, and was either assured that it would be (by the technician), or informed that they would gather more information and get back to me (by the office), but received no return call. By the time the second technician showed up between 12:30-1:00, I again asked if the job could be completed by 5. Technician one nervously answered that yes, it would, and he said they'd perform a sample cleaning area, and have me approve it before going any further. After the went to work, I heard him on the phone with Dan, the company owner, stating that they couldn't finish the job by 5. As they continued cleaning the sample area for the next hour, my frustration grew. By the time the sample area was ready and I approved the work, the technician apologized and told me that they couldn't complete the job by 5. I told him that I would have needed that information before I made the decision to have them begin, seeing as I had informed him that I wanted the job completed in one day, as had been originally schedulws. By this time, I felt uncomfortable having them in the house, and asked them to leave, and I would hire another company to complete the work. The technician sheepishly informed me that he doesn't like being yelled at, that he had enough of that growing up from his parents. Of course I hadn't yelled at him - how do you even begin to respond to that? I honestly could not believe how unprofessional the entire operation was. I hired another company that I found on Angie's List to complete the work, and it was done in 4 hours for half the price. And the technician showed up 5 minutes early.

Thank you for your review. I will use this space to give our side of the story. We called the customer the day before her appointment to let her know that we would need to complete a job from the prior day. The other job had unexpected water damage which needed additional work in order to get the customers shower ready for use. Our company policy is to do our best to not leave customers out of their showers (especially if it is their only shower) before moving on to the next project. When we spoke with the customer she insisted that this was the only day that she could have us out to do the work so I let her know that we would do our best to complete the first job and get to her home and complete her shower but it may be a late day. When my crew arrived on site to complete the work the customer decided that she may not want all of the work done. She asked my crew to clean and prep the area first to show her what it looked like just cleaned before she decided if she wanted to "color seal" the grout lines, which is our process to guarantee uniform color throughout the grout lines. Normally one crew member preps as the other applies the color seal to be as productive as possible with time. This was especially difficult when we were already pressed for time. Now the crew was left in a situation where they were less productive due to the customers indecision on her project. Once they finished cleaning, she decided that she was not happy with the results of just cleaning. We told her this would be the case when we quoted the project and when my technicians arrived, based on our experience, but she insisted that we clean the whole area before she made her decision. Now the cleaning was complete and the customer was very upset with the results, and my crew for being behind schedule. My crew was nervous that they would not finish. The combination of the late start and the extra delays, meeting the customers demands caused more delays. This is when my crew called me for advice and help. I made a few calls and opened up my afternoon to come to the job site myself and help the crew finish the job. I let them know I was on the way that way we could make the customer happy and complete the job as promised and give her the results she wanted with color seal. When I was about half way to the job site I called my crew to see if they needed any additional supplies. They informed me that the customer had kicked them out even though they had told her that I was on my way to help with the job to make sure it was completed by her deadline. I was unable to reach the customer the day of our scheduled work. She would not return or answer any of my calls. The following day I spoke with her, and offered to come back for her to finish the project and clear our schedule any day to make up for the issues on the prior day. She said there was nothing we could do and I offered to part ways and give her deposit back. I never want customers to leave any experience with my company with a bad impression so although we had prepped the whole area as she requested before she asked my team to leave, I decided it would be best to offer to return her deposit to make amends with the customer. As a side note, the company that came after us was able to finish quickly and for a lower price since the job was already entirely prepped. While I try to be as fair and understanding with each customer I am not sure that we could have pleased this customer. We jumped through several hoops trying to meet her demands. I rescheduled several other appointments just to have her kick out my crew and not let us finish our project.

Great. They did a great job sealing everything up and the service guy gave me some tips on how to seal my tile. About 8 months later one small area of grout had shrunk and pulled away leaving a hole for water to get through. Sir Grout came in and fixed it the same day I contacted them - free of charge! I truly appreciate that they stand behind their work! It has now been over a year since the initial service and no further issues to speak of. I will definitely use Sir Grout again.

First, the salesman, Joe, was very knowledgeable, generous with his time and provided a very detailed proposal. The technician who came to do the work a few weeks later was very prompt and professional and did excellent work. He worked very hard for several hours without any breaks, and thoroughly cleaned up afterward. (He also finished the job in less time than had been estimated.) We are very satisfied with the results. Everything looks great. A few months later, Dan Lundstedt, the owner, followed up with us to ask if everything had gone well and if we were satisfied. I assured him that we were, but mentioned that a very small section of caulk was starting to come off due to the pressure of the water hitting it. (I don't think this is the fault of the technician, but suspect that we will need clear silicone in that particular spot rather than caulk.) Dan indicated that we could call the office to arrange to have someone take care of that, which we will do. I was impressed by his follow-up.
Description of Work: cleaned and sealed kitchen tile and grout; cleaned and sealed tile and grout in master bath shower; recaulked in shower also.
I learned of Sir Grout through advertising that arrived in the mail, and couldn't be happier that I placed that first call to Dan Lundstedt to discuss my various flooring, tile/grout, and stone needs. Dan scheduled a site visit soon after my call, and was very thorough, both in asking pertinent questions on how my surfaces had been maintained previously, as well as offering suggestions on restoration and ongoing maintenance. I was impressed by Dan's choice to use proven top quality, non-toxic products, rather than the harsh commercial brands others employed. My biggest concern was an entire level of my home having cork flooring, that had been so poorly installed, followed by failed attempts by other contractors to correct the discolored, scuffed, drab surface, that I was to the point of considering replacing the entire floor with hardwood. Dan reassured me that he would research the best products for cork, and returned with 3 sample finishes of matte to glossy, to apply in an inconspicuous area of the closet, for my approval. Sir Grout's technicians arrived on time for our scheduled appointment a few weeks later (as I requested), moved furniture as needed to work area by area, and achieved remarkable results after an initial cleaning and just a single application of the high traffic protective floor coating we had agreed on. The crew leader chose to apply 2 more coatings, for the best results. Now, 4 months later, I am reminded of Sir Grout's expertise each time I look around at my beautifully restored cork flooring, in a rich, deep brown satin finish, with not a scuff in sight. On the same day of work, the tiles and grout on my shower walls and ceiling were steam cleaned, and a perfect match for my original grout color was blended and applied before sealing. Any evidence of mold/mildew was scraped out from the seams along the floor, a mold resistant product was applied, and the seams recaulked. I wanted to preserve that fresh, clean, disinfected state of my shower forever, though totally unrealistic, so it's just good to know Sir Grout is always ready to come back, not because the work will need to be repeated, but only because I will want the work to be repeated. At the end of the day, I was so convinced of Sir Grout's exceptional workmanship, that I asked Dan to schedule me for another challenging job, that several before him had attempted with no success. My white limestone flooring, looking like freshly poured cream the day it was installed, began discoloring to a mottled grey, dingy surface soon after. Natural markings hidden deep within the stone are known to rise to the surface once the stone is cut, unbeknownst to me (or my Architect, apparently). Again, Dan calmly reassured me that I could celebrate the beauty of my original stone, after a thorough cleaning, followed by his recommended diamond hone and polish process, to the level of sheen we both chose, and proper sealing. He was right - my limestone looks (almost) new again. I will continue to recommend Sir Grout without hesitation, and those who know my standards know my recommendations are few but exceptional.
Description of Work: 1. Thorough steam cleaning of tile and grout on master shower walls and ceiling using non-toxic cleaner; colorsealing all grout lines, followed by hand buff; 2. Recaulking seam along glass walls after eliminating mold and mildew; 3. Restoration of cork flooring, removing scuffs and applying 3 coats of high traffic protective floor finish. 4. Thoroughly cleaning and preparing limestone flooring and counter surfaces in multiple areas of my home for diamond hone and polish process, followed by protective sealer. Work included moving small furniture and masking/protecting surrounding areas.

Results are excellent - the tile is like new, and there were significant issues with staining and mildew. I could not be happier with the results. Service is expensive - it was well worth it in my case, but be prepared for this to cost more than you think it might. There was a snafu with the original appointment for an estimate - this was very frustrating and almost caused me to not continue with the vendor. However, once we got past that, I was very happy with the responsiveness, timeliness and professionalism in all subsequent encounters. Dan was on time and did a good job of communciating all of the options and providing an estimate and scheduling the work on the spot. The tech who did the work was very professional, cleaned up thoroughly after the job and did everything to make this a painless experience (except for the cost). Also, I asked about cleaning the tub itself which this vendor does not do. However, they gave me a tip for using Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, which worked out very well - I appreciated this. Overall a very positive experience.

I moved into this condo at the end of April. The previous owners had trashed the shower and the tile was very stained and corroded. I obtained 3 estimates from various firms. Sir Grout was the least expensive and also the most reassuring. They promised the tile could be repaired and cleaned without needing replacement. They were very accommodating with my work schedule as well as scheduling the work soon after I moved in. The owner showed up and explained the process and expected time/work on the first day. It was an expected two-day job and that is what it took. He worked late the second night but I'd have to say I wouldn't have minded if he stayed until midnight to finish. The work was that great. The shower was completely restored and looked brand new. They were also helpful with tips to help prevent such tile damage in the future. The owner followed up to check on the status of the shower months later. It still looks brand new and I could not be happier with the work and service provided. I was quoted by several people upwards of 5 times what Sir Grout estimated and charged. I'm so happy I kept looking, and I would absolutely recommend their services (from minimal grout upkeep to complete tile renewal in my case) to anyone in the future.

Sir Grout initially came to our home to evaluate the shower stall and provide an estimate. The explanation was thorough and detailed with the manager spending as much time as was required to answer questions. On the day of service, I was not home but my friend Fred was there to observe and provide assistance. Fred advised that, as Sir Grout had indicated, the repair work required 5-6 hours. The process was thorough and the result was impressive. The tile and grout looked new - better than I'd imagined. Not quite one year later, the shower still looks amazing.
Description of Work: Sir Grout completely re-grouted our upstairs bathroom shower stall, which was in need of repair with cracked grout, especially along the base of the shower. The shower looks like new after Sir Grout regrouted and re-surfaced the entire shower. The result was excellent.

Owner, Dan Lundstedt, came out and gave us a very detailed breakdown quote, as well as what to expect on the day the work was to be done. We were told work would take 8 to 10 hours. That we did not have to stay home the whole day (just let the worker in & be there upon completion). I was contacted via email to confirm the appointment. The appt was scheduled for a Saturday and Eddie promptly showed up at 8 a.m. ready to go. We previously pulled all items out of the bathroom the night before, so he was able to get right to work. I cannot stress just how conscientious Eddie was. We were able to come & go during the day. Each time Eddie went to the next step in his process, he invited us in to view what he'd done & was going to do next. Being the 3rd owner of this particular condo unit, we were well aware of the cracking grout, trace amounts of mildew & mold. What we thought was a darker grout on our floor turned out to be ground in dirt. Eddie was able to clean & color match our grout. The other impressive thing about Eddie was his insistence that the job wouldn't be done or right until he & we were happy. We were so impressed with the final results. For us, the most impressive thing is our master bath looks like a brand new bathroom remodel! The tile is amazing. We could not be happier with our experience with Dan, Eddie & Sir Grout. We highly recommend Dan & his crew for any tile needs.

My earlier review is below but I would like to make an update. The owner contacted me by email and phone to make an apology and assure me that he would refund my deposit plus extra $ for the aggravation that was caused. Due to the owner's quick response to make amends, I updated by grading by several grades. Wish I could give them better grades, but I cancelled the work after having trouble scheduling. Older review: I scheduled to have two bathrooms cleaned by Sir Grout. Dan was very nice on the estimate, but from there the service went downhill. I had to reschedule my date to clean the bathrooms in June, called and got a new date on July 12. On the original date in June, I got a call that they were coming over. Called to say I had changed it to July 12, but there was no record of the change. So I rescheduled the date to July 26, but then the crew arrived at July 12 (we weren't home because the date had been changed!). I called and they assured me that the new date of July 26 was on the record and somehow they had mixed up. Well, July 26 arrived and no one showed up. When I called the woman said there was no record of any dates scheduled except the June date!!!! What gives with these people? Don't they talk to one another? Don't they keep records?
Description of Work: Was scheduled to clean grout in two bathrooms. Did not show up nor acknowledge change of date.

Response from Sir Grout Chicago
[member name removed],. I am so sorry the scheduling has been so poor on our side. I was out of town for 2 weeks to Europe then came home and moved my home and business upon my return. It has been a very overwhelming time for my family as well as for my support staff to cover for me in my absence I am very sorry that you were effected on multiple occasions with scheduling issues. I completely understand your frustration and disappointment in our communication. I assure you that this is not how we normally conduct business otherwise we would no longer be in business. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to change your opinion about my company. I am happy to send your deposit back to you. I am willing to send additional money for your inconvenience since I am so embarrassed that you were handled so poorly. Please let me know what you think is most fair and I will do exactly that. Thank you for your time and sorry again for my companies short comings, I look forward to speaking with you soon.
