We reached out to Roosevelt on a friend's recommendation because we had a leak from our master toilet into the unit below us and a problem with the toilet flushing inconsistently due to an apparent clog. He was responsive on the phone and able to make an appointment to come out the following morning to assess the situation. Unfortunately his responsiveness is where my positive feedback stops. A few issues that I have explained in more detail below: (1) He was unprepared; (2) He did not finish the job; (3) He got in over his head and charged us for work he ultimately did not complete. 1. HE WAS UNPREPARED FOR A FULL SERVICE PLUMBING CALL, despite assuring me that he could address all issues I described on the phone. I explained to him on the phone that we had trouble with a leak AND that our two toilets were not consistently flushing completely. When he arrived on site, he did not have the equipment needed to do anything other than fix the leak. We had to arrange for him to come back the following morning with more equipment. 2. HE DID NOT FINISH THE JOB. When Roosevelt came back the following day to address the problems he proscribed the previous day, he spent 7 hours in the bathroom (apparently rooting it, resealing it, and then telling me we needed to buy a new toilet which he then installed), declared victory, got paid $430, and left. When I flushed the toilet shortly after he left, it still backed up to the point of overflowing. He was not available to come back and reassess it until 2 days later, despite telling me he would be returning the following morning to pick up the old toilet he had replaced. 3. HE GOT IN OVER HIS HEAD AND CHARGED US FOR WORK WE DISCOVERED HE COULD NOT COMPLETE. It became quickly apparent when Roosevelt returned for the third time that he had no solution for the problem at hand. He should have admitted this problem early on in the process on the second day rather than continue trying new fixes, including advising us to buy a new toilet which I now question whether or not we needed. He wasted more than 12 hours of our time and $430 of our money. We have been left with a new toilet that still does not flush. For as nice a man as he was, I have come to the conclusion that Roosevelt lacks integrity and sound judgement as a service provider and does not provide responsible customer service. He should not have accepted payment for work that did not produce a real result that he was confident in. When it became apparent that he had not completed the job and we demanded to be returned money for services not rendered, he grew argumentative with my husband and refused to refund any portion of what we paid him. Shame on us for paying him in cash and shame on him for taking our money for poor quality work. I will not hire Roosevelt for another job in the future because I do not know that we could trust him to be forthcoming about what he can and cannot accomplish.
Description of Work: Roosevelt was hired to: 1. Replace the sealing ring under the toilet in our master bathroom. The old ring was causing a leak from into the bath below. -- COMPLETED. 2. Assess and repair two toilets that would not consistently and completely flush. -- FAILED.
