Reliant Construction

Let me first say that the work that was done was of good quality and this company is very cost effective. However, the biggest complaint that ruined the overall experience was the hounding needed to get the work done. I originally contacted Reliant in Decmeber of 2010 with the intention of starting the work in the beginning of the spring. The estimate took two months, and I should have known at that point that it would be difiicult getting them to work on the job. They quoted me a great price though, and so I ultimately chose them based on this. The contract was signed in late Feb., and they started on March 22. The job was supposed to take 5 weeks, and admittedly the spring was rainy. However, many days when it wasn't raining noone came out, and it took until the middle of September for them to finish. I was calling them every day at that point to make sure they were coming to work. If I wanted to do that I would have been my own General Contractor! 6 MONTHS for a 5 week job! The subs that Reliant hires are talented, but in general work fairly slowly, and this is a huge issue when you are trying to get things done on a schedule. Also, when we had an issue with water where the new foundation and slab were going, they needed to saw cut the existing slab and install a drain tile to our existing sump pump. They used a gas concrete saw in the house and did not adequately vent during the work, and my house was filled with CO2. When my pregnant wife came home to a house full of CO2 with the detector going off, she had to call the fire department and ended up staying in a hotel that night. I would not hire them again for anything because I couldn't rely on them to adequately schedule the work or the subcontractors. Fail.

It went great the representative were professional. They finished in the time expected. There was a slight delay from the cabinet maker but that was my choice. They worked and did all they could while waiting. The cost was on target and really reasonable. After the job was done there was a very slow drip from one of the joint of the new copper tubing they came in repaired it right away at no extra cost and were vary accommodating. I had a family of raccoons in my attic. I had a pest removal company trap the raccoons and remove them. Reliant construction repaired the attic and a raccoon must have been in there hiding and died. As the property was being remodeled I wasn't living there at the time so I never knew it was there. The workers realized it was there and dealt with it. I never saw it, and didn't have to deal with it at all. I can't thank them enough for that.
