Promise did a great, quick job. It's very expensive, but worth it if you have photos or other files that you simply must try to recover.

I scanned and loaded 50 years of professional photography work as well as family photos into an external drive. It contained the only file of about 5,000 raw and jpeg photos. Later nothing was there so I thought I'd formatted the drive. Looking to have the data restored, I researched and contacted a number of data recovery companies and selected Promise Data Recovery in Chicago because of Sara Khan at their Peterson office. She was the most knowledgeable person I spoke with and provided honest answers, realistic expectations and timelines and explained how data is recovered in my situation. No one I spoke with at any other company came close to her regarding customer service or knowledge. She also was sensative to my worry. Their price was a reasonable $450.00 whether all, some or none of the data was recovered. R. Samuel was the Data Recovery Engineer who did expert work on the missing data. I am completely satisfied with the work and people at Promise and will absolutely use them if I ever have a problem like this again.

The vendor missed the original estimated target time due to unforeseen complications with data recovery, but did work overtime to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Were unable to recover the names of the files, but did recover most of the raw data.

They will look at your drives and tell you whether they think they can help or not, before charging you. Once you engage them for recovery, they have three pricing options based on how soon you need the data. They stayed in contact, got the job done, and were very affordable considering the options we reviewed

I did a google search to find 'deep data recovery' in Chicago, and came across Promise Data Recovery. I was impressed that they would not charge anything if they could not recover your data. I gave them a call, saw them the next day, and they felt I had a 50/50 chance of success with a dropped hard drive, but they emailed me later that day that they could get to my data and the charge. I was thrilled...through digital forensics, they were able to capture all of the important data I had from my business on an external hard drive. They offered me options of how to do this, and DVD's seemed the easiest. They did all this in only 1 week.
