After hiring two decorators and letting them go because I was not satisfied with their services, I came across Kelly and immediately thought "this is what I really needed all along". Kelly was absolutely wonderful. On the first appointment, she was patient in listening to me talk through my several room inspirations I found online and talked with me to understand what I was trying to do with my space. Once we figured that out, she had wonderful paint colors to suggest and even what accessories to put in my space to really make the room come to life the way I imagined it to be. The first session we picked out paint and the follow up session we literally sat on my couch browsing online together to find accessories that would make the space complete. After ordering everything, the items took a few days to come in and as they did I would communicate with her about how everything was coming together and double check that she still thought everything looked ok and flowed well. Her response was always timely and upbeat! Kelly is an absolute gem! Worth every penny for sure. Not only does she have an amazing eye when it comes to color, she is very professional and very caring. She really has the heart of gold and wants to ensure that you love your space. If she picks something out that you don't love, she is far from offended... she wants YOU to love it, which is key. I highly recommend her!

The job went beautifully. Kelly and her crew arrived right on time, for the agreed upon date which was planned far in advance. Almost every room and ceiling in the entire house was painted, as well as the front porch. There was a considerable amount of drywall repair also, because it's a 115 year old home, and because of major electrical work done to add outlets and light fixtures. (by my electrician). Kelly's crew was great. Very professional and a pleasure to be around. Their work was first rate. Kelly also served as my design consultant and designer. I'm thrilled with the end results. The color choices are perfect and I couldn't be happier with our choices for rugs and furniture. She was invaluable in the entire creative process. Kelly has a rare gift, and she made me aware of aspects of the design process that I hadn't considered, which created a beautiful overall look and feel for our home.
Description of Work: I had most of the interior of my two story house painted after converting from a two flat to a single family home.

We bought a house a year ago and just hated the paint colors in almost every room. Because we planned to go ahead and repaint almost every room (in a fairly large bungalow), we were a bit overwhelmed by the myriad of paint colors and shades out there (uhg), and so the project just sort of languished and stalled. We finally decided to call in a color consultant, which led us to PTTR. Kelly (the owner) was very responsive and came out within less than a week of me contacting her. She walked our house with us, asked a lot of questions to get a feel for what we were looking for, and then systematically went to work showing us paint options. Our month's-long and utterly maddening struggle gave way to our selections being made all within the two-hours we met with Kelly. What a relief. Kelly then quickly ordered large samples of our selections (which offer a better representation), and when we didn't like one after seeing it in large format, she quickly got us alternative shades/colors. We finally decided on that one room (dining) that we were still hung up on. As part of the consultation, Kelly offered to then correspond and advise us on anything and everything for two more weeks and she continued to help us with our tile selection (another maddening process--we're picky!) for the kitchen. She even offered to walk us through by phone while we were at tile stores. She was always prompt when we did contact her for advice. PTTR also offers actual painting service too, and their prices are competitive (with actual reputable companies--you get what you pay for!). We went ahead with them and had five rooms and hallways done. Rodek did an excellent job and is obviously quite the perfectionist. The paint looks beautiful and we are quite pleased. We got all the aforementioned painted in less than 4 full days. I highly recommend PTTR for both consulting and the actual painting. Kelly is great to work with and good at following up. She has the vision! Also, Kelly offers additional decorating services/consultations if you want to take your interior to the next level.

Paint The Town Red is an impeccable interior painting company. From start to finish the quality of work, service and professionalism was truly exceptional. The foreman and the painting crew are top rate. I was impressed when he took pictures of my home in order to return all to the exact spot in which he found them! The crew is truly old-world, talented artisans who take great pride in their interior painting. When I rehired them after replacing windows I was once again so impressed with their precision in painting the new trim to perfection. Of course, no one likes to have painters in their house for an extended time...but I have to say I didn't mind as they were personable, courteous and extremely tidy! I can't say enough about Kelly and her company. I highly recommend them!!

Kelly is truly gifted in her ability to walk through your home and intuit what your needs are, both functionally and aesthetically. She is different from other designers in that she is not only considers what looks fabulous but she also takes into account the rhythm and routine of your life. She?ll share her insights and lead you forward.. but she?ll lead you toward your vision. She is not a designer who wants her signature on your home but rather she is intent on guiding you to your signature. Don?t worry, she will steer you away from design mistakes and push you to take risks but the process is a collaboration. Her background in color lends a third dimension to the design process. She has an array of colors in her memory and she is astute in guiding you in this area, not in terms of simply beauty but also the atmosphere and the energy of each room. In summary, Kelly?s real gift is creating a room which makes you feel a certain way and you get to decide what that feeling is. It goes deeper than design..I would call it artistry. Her work is exquisite and you get to live in it.

Kelly's Color Consulting and interior painting saved us so much time and money! My husband and I had frustratingly and very unsuccessfully tried to choose paint colors for an entire house repaint. I felt like we were bumping our heads against the wall never getting the paint color right. We had paint color samples all over the walls. We finally decided to call a paint color expert and the moment Kelly came into our home I knew we had made the right decision by hiring a color specialist! Within two hours she had recreated our space and vision of our are home beyond our ability. Then we hired her to paint and her painting team was exquisite. So polite so neat and now our home looks bigger and newer than it ever has before! Everybody comments about how awesome our home looks now. Even the kids are amazed. Thank you Paint The Town Red! Thank you Kelly!!!

I loved getting Kelly's ideas and help on colors, and she was very respectful of my taste and desires, but also very helpful in identifying the right shades and helping me picture the options. The painters were prompt, on schedule, absolutely meticulous in prep work and painting, and very considerate and quiet. I found the whole process and the result super, and I have high standards --especially for prepping the walls, which is absolutely necessary to get a professional-looking and long-lasting paint job.

Kelly felt like an old friend even at our first meeting. Our design consultations where easy, fun and efficient. Though I was a bit skeptical about the paint "consulting" process initially, I will say that it was one of the best decisions I've made! Kelly was extremely knowledgeable about the colors and undertones which was essential for me because I was looking at shades of gray. At the end of the day, I implemented every one of her suggestions and my house looks amazing. Thanks Kelly!

I hired Kelly to help pick out paint colors, but got much more. I wanted bright, invigorating colors and got a color scheme that was very lively and inviting. She was able to integrate two existing colors so that I didn't have to re-paint two rooms. Prevailing wisdom suggests that brightly colored homes do poorly on the real estate market. But, not if they're done tastefully...the house sold after just two days on the market. I could not be more pleased with the outcome and am looking forward to working with Kelly on the new house. Kelly also offered some interior design advice, which was more than expected. I was not able to use all her advice, but the pieces I did worked out great. I did the work myself over the course of a few months and exchanged emails with Kelly a few times asking for her advice and input. She was always gracious with her time and always helped, even though our "business" had been completed long before. I invited Kelly back to see the finished project and she saw some paint chips that were out for a separate project. Again, she freely offered her input without any thought of compensation (and I am very grateful, because none of those colors would have worked out like the one she suggested). Overall, Kelly was worth every penny...and I got more than I paid for.
Description of Work: Picked paint colors. She also offered advice on furniture, artwork, rugs, and accents such as pillows.

Description Of Work: Color consultation, painting, furniture & rug selection, and design consulting and for a 1 bedroom condo. Member Comments: My condo needed a complete refreshing and a more mature feel. The single guy look was wearing thin. Kelly made the process painless. She put a design together with color and furniture and texture that while masculine doesn’t have leather on every surface, scream frat boy, or be off putting to my female friends . While the colors were not something I was considering before I met Kelly, I’m very happy with the result. The condo looks like a new place. Kelly worked within my budget choosing new items were needed, reusing my existing furniture were possible, and searching out “slightly” used piece were it made sense. As someone who could be considered design impaired, I couldn’t be happier with the service I received from Kelly. She did everything for me. No shopping. Kelly would send pictures. I would choose what I like or identify what I didn’t and she would take care of the rest. What more could a guy ask for. I highly recommend Kelly and will definitely use her again.

I find Kelly to be one of the most creative people that I have ever met. She is also very open minded and listens to her clients. Together we really worked on a vision for my house. She helped me with every single room, and they all came to life. Her work helped me feel so much happier in my home. Kelly's crew was always on time, professional, and neat. They cleaned up after themselves and they were incredibly corteous. I let my kids work with Kelly to help choose the colors for their bedrooms. She was very attentive to their visions but helped direct them to make a better choice for the long-run. She introduced the kids to a creative process that was fun for them. My whole family was very happy with the outcome. Thanks to Kelly and her crew I now love my house and how it feels like a home.
Description of Work: They painted the interior of my whole house.
Kelly is great and you should go with her ideas! She has a great eye for how something will look in your home! Best experience with a painting company ever!
Description of Work: We just were moving into a new house and Kelly came over and gave us great ideas on how to paint and wallpaper our FR, LR, kitchen, master bed and one guest bed room, plus a new outdoor cedar fence that needed staining. She organized the painters and the wallpaper teams and was very much in contact throughout the project. Very high quality work. Wallpaper was aligned perfectly on all walls and corners. That is rare. We also had a tight timeline and she delivered. Best experience with a painting company ever!

I had interviewed 4 company's to paint my place and I needed to "get out of my box" as far as what colors to do. I interviewed her company and she was $1000 over the bids of other company's. On her website it mentions she is a "color analyst". I figured I would hire her to go over colors and use someone else to do the painting. Kelly had 2 appointments with me and she was late both times. The 2nd appointment she didn't show because she had been on vacation and in her head she thought saturday was friday. I set time aside for saturday and had to set time aside on Sunday for her. We decided on a "metal" wall for an accent wall plus other colors. It turns out that their aren't too many painters that do "faux" walls. Her company does and she said she would do the accent wall for $2500. This was way over my budget plus everything else that had to be painted. I feel she should have told me "that metal color" would have an additional cost. My other painter was $1700 for the kitchen, dining room, foyer, 1 bedroom. The $1700 plus $2500 was too much to spend. Because I couldn't find someone to do that wall - I had to disregard her colors and come up with others. The painter that I hired helped me out with new and different colors. All and all I wouldn't hire her as a color analyst. I I think it's probably best to hire her to paint and have her pick the colors. Hiring her to do colors ended up being a waste for me. I don't feel that the $250 that I gave her for 1 hour was worth it. I won't do that again. Patti

Response from Paint the Town Red
The member hired me to select color for her living room, office, kitchen and dining room. She did not hire me to paint as she found a cheaper painter. We selected the colors together and she was thrilled with the "out of the box" options as the main wall was to be painted a metallic copper. I use metallic frequently and just painted a silver metallic in my own home. Yet the less-expensive-painter that she hired to do the actual work did not know how to paint with metallic. She requested a bid from me to paint the wall yet she thought that was too expensive-even after I lowered it to $500 to help her out so that she could enjoy the colors that we selected together. I explained to her that in order to paint the wall properly it required 1 coat of solid paint and 3-4 coats of metallic. We can't simply 'splash and dash' if she would like it done properly. Unfortunately, she decided not to paint with the colors that we selected. I am still not sure why the hired painter could not paint with metallic. It is not considered a faux paint and is actually common practice. I am sorry that she ultimately did not get what she wanted by the painter as she was misinformed.

I received a few painting contractor bids, but chose Paint The Town Red because their Angieslist description said they worked in high-rise buildings, I chose them because in reviews I read they thoroughly protected areas, and thoroughly prep'd areas to paint with patching and sanding, and had full insurance including Workmen's Comp. Some painters skimp, skip, on caring WC. This is what I read, I will get to what I experienced later. Of the bids, they weren't the most expensive, but not the cheapest. I can understand why many Angieslist reviews rate their pricing a "B", I thought to do the same. I thought PTTR would just cover some my kitchen cabinets, shelving areas, etc. "some", and just patch nail holes and paint, like most other painting contractors do. However, PTTR prep work was way beyond that. They really do cover with plastic everything they're not going to paint. And, they really do thoroughly, entirely, sand whatever they're going to paint, then patch, then sand again. After they paint, they look for painting surface imperfections, patch, sand, and paint. They continue this process until the painting surface is perfect, as perfect as reasonable with previously painted by others surfaces. After seeing what PTTR does, unlike many other painting contractors, the concientous of protection and perfection, I can understand why their not the cheapest, but not the most expensive. I also chose PTTR because they do faux painting. Other positives from my painting experience, Juan, her crew leader polite, professional, and bilingual in fluent-English and -Spanish. Other painters of PTTR, Rene (sp ?) bilingual. And, another positive, after all painting was done, owner Kelly and me and my wife did a Final Walk Thru. A Punch List was made and items improved. Here is the real "positive" ! on this point. Days later, after all was improved from the Punch List, my wife and I didn't like something. To our satisfaction, PTTR touched it up. We would definitely us Paint The Town Red again, even though they may be more expensive. You know the old saying, "You get what you pay for ! " Give 'Paint The Town Red' a try ! I believe you'll be very-pleased as we are, thanks to Kelly, Juan, Rene (sp ?), and the other painter gentleman.
After purchasing a 5 bedroom home we needed to paint every inch and do some work around the house. She came in full of ideas and we worked for hours to make sure all the colors would flow. I had always had white walls and was a bit afraid of color but no longer! Kelly's crew was amazing, they were very detailed and respectful of our house and our family. They were at our home for several weeks so I got to see how they worked and I fully trusted them. Yes, the price is more than most painting companies but so is the quality. Kelly went over every inch of my house before we signed off on the project so I was very happy. Also since there are always things in a home that aren't quite right I needed an electrician and she had one in immediately (who was great!) and he installed lights, cans, etc. Kelly's crew also did a day of handyman work for me which was wonderful. Kelly has a natural eye for design so we did flow over into a bit of that with curtains and general home ideas.I would and have hired kelly again!

PTTR painted my condo five years ago, and we hired them again to repaint our main hallway, which has very high ceilings, a staircase, and various chair railings and mouldings. They arrived on time and did a great job painting and cleaning up. Our hallway was looking really rough, and now it's so fresh and clean! PTTR is not the cheapest company, but you get what you pay for! Their main talent is in helping you choose colors, which is what they did for us back in 2006. We will use them for that again in the future.

We had originally called Kelly to come out to do an estimate to paint the entire interior of our newly purchased house (2,400 sq. ft). The walls were all in bad shape, and we needed everything painted (including trim, ceiling, all walls, etc.). She came out just as promised, perfectly on time, and we had a terrific conversation about the skills of her painting crew. She showed me a powerpoint slide that demonstrated her recent jobs. I was floored by how beautiful the paint jobs were. She explained that they don't just paint the wall, they do a ton of repairs to perfect the wall surface first. In addition, she doesn't just come in and slap on color... She consults with the homeowner to design the entire color experience throughout the space. Unfortunately, her skills and the skill of her crew exceeded our budget, and her painting estimate was literally twice as much as the painter we ultimately chose. HOWEVER, all was not lost with Kelly, as I was dying to work with her in some way, shape, or form, She knew that my husband and I were completely overwhelmed by the process of choosing colors for our house. We are not very good at it, and we tend to always default to the same color palette. Kelly said that she could offer to be our color consultant for wall colors for $250 per hour. Although that seemed expensive to me, I was so impressed by her, her ideas, her presence, and her work that I agreed. We were not disappointed. Kelly spent well more than an hour with us walking our house with ginormous color sample stacks to help us talk her through what we wanted from each room. I felt that it was truly a collaborative process, as she really listened to us talk about how we would use the room, how we wanted to feel, what type of furniture we had, etc. At the end of the day, she chose bold, delicious, amazing colors for us in every room. There is not a single room that I can say I would have thought to have chosen that color, tone, or shade, but we are thrilled with every suggestion (we followed every one!). We were so impressed, that when it came time to choose colors for window treatments (and I, again, froze up in fear), we called Kelly and she spent another hour with us going over window treatments. It wasn't just her time with me on the phone, though... She also worked with the store where we were purchasing the window shades from to guide them in terms of what types of fabric, print, and color I wanted. She probably spent more time on the phone with us and the store than an hour, but she kindly only charged us for 1 hour. My only ONLY minor complaint was the cost, but you do get what you pay for. I would highly recommend Kelly for all of your color consultation needs. And if you have a generous budget, you should hire her to paint as well. I am sure she is amazing.

I wasn't going to post a review, but every time I open a window I am reminded of my less than satisfying experience with Paint The Town Red. I hired them last fall to paint my whole condominium. Paint the Town Red did use a beautiful paint (Benjamin Moore Aura) but in grading them on the actual painting job, I would give them a C. Their painting in the corners, edges and baseboards was sloppy, they didn't sand the surfaces, they didn't use a sealer on a water-damaged area and they painted my windows shut. When I mentioned the corners and edges issue to the owner, Kelly, she sent someone back to do the final touch-up to catch the areas they missed. I appreciated that. However, when I asked her why they didn't fix the surface flaws before they painted, she said it would have taken too much time and she didn't fix old paint jobs. (I didn't need major repair work, but her painters did things like paint over old paint drips rather than sand them down so the glob is still there.) Her estimate states "Repair includes scraping, caulking, plastering and sanding to achieve a smooth surface free of blemishes." I did not have an opportunity to discuss the water-stain and windows because I didn't see that the water stain had bled through until about four weeks after they had finished and I didn't find out my windows had been painted shut until I tried to open them this spring. (I managed to get the windows open but not without a fight in which the new paint did not survive.) The ceiling and windows will have to be re-painted but I'll find someone else. The actual paint job aside, we also had a problem when I discovered they had broken my vertical blinds. A week after they finished, I went to open my blinds and 2 slats fell out. When I went to put them back up, I noticed that the connectors had all been broken off and the slats were glued back on. I called Kelly to ask what happened and she did not respond. I called 3 times over the next 2 days and never got a response. I asker her employee when he came to do the touch-up work and he told me that they broke the blinds when they took them down to paint the window frame. He said I needed to talk to his foreman who told me he would talk to Kelly. Two more days go by and I still had no response from Kelly so I sent her an email in which I suggest that the balance of what I owe her be wiped out to cover the cost of the blinds. That got a response from her in which she accused me of just wanting to get something for free, that I kept asking for discounts and that they were not responsible fo rthe blinds because the blinds were old and should have been replaced anyway. She then sent me another email saying she doesn't believe her crew even broke the blinds. I pointed out to her that I was not making wild accusations. I did not know what happened until her employee told me they broke the blinds. And, the only discount I ever asker her for was because her crew completely failed to show up one day. (She gave me $75 off). She also gave me an incentive discount before I hired her because she wanted the job to start immediately to keep her crew working. However, I did not ask for it. Also, she adjusted the cost of the materials and paint, but only AFTER I asked for an itemized breakdown. In the end, I found a company who could repair the headrail for under $200. I sent Paint The Town Red a copy of the estimate and they took it off my final bill. I was upset the the blinds were broken, but I was not angry. I understand that accidents happen. What did make me angry and what I found more disappointing was that 1) I was not told of the incident but only found out by chance; 2) that they tried to hide it and 3) that rather than step-up and admit the mistake she accused me of trying to cheat her. For me, the quality of a company is measured not only by their actual capability in providing a good product, but also by how well they handle things when something goes wrong. In that respect, Paint The Town Red failed.

Response from Paint the Town Red
I always address client's issues when they come to me to discuss them directly. I have emailed this client to help resolve her issues and she has not replied. To clear up the misunderstanding here I have stated what I accurately told her: 1. We inherit the work completed prior to us. So if there are brush marks or drips simply sanding and painting will not remove these. We must skim coat the wall which adds time and money to a job and was not included in the bid. This client did not want to pay for the addition repair work that would be required. 2. the windows were painted almost 6 months ago and were left open to dry. What happens 6 months later is out of my control especially if there are water marks indicating a leak. Finally, the blinds were old and brittle and there is no proof that my crew broke them. My crew reports all damages directly to the client then to me and we handle the repair appropriately in order to mitigate any issues. Regardless, we paid for blind. Thank you.

We were pretty sure about the color we wanted for the bedroom, but spent some time with Kelly to decide about the colors for the bathrooms. Kelly was able to accommodate our request for quick turnaround and within 10 days or so of my first call to her our rooms were beautifully painted. The crew was the same that had done quite a bit of work for us four years ago and they were clean, courteous, and skillful. It is such a pleasure to work with Kelly and her staff. Once again, we couldn't be happier with the results.
Description of Work: We asked Kelly to return to our house to paint a large bedroom/office and two bathrooms.

I had purchased a new condo and was interested in both color consultation as well as painting, and ultimately hired the company for both services. A friend who lives in the same area as the company's owner had seen the car/advertising and suggested I check out the website/contact the company for more details. After speaking with Kelly (the owner) on the phone, I requested an estimate (she came out personally to view the space and provide the estimate) and, ultimately, hired her. I had a couple of different consultations on the color selections, which turned out really well. Kelly's style was very collaborative and we ended up wtih a palette throughout the condo that works well in the space and complements my furniture and artwork nicely. Four months later, I'm still really pleased with all of the colors we selected and the creativity that went into deciding which walls would be which colors. She also helped me pick out fabrics for a couple of pillows and a 3-paneled screen, and I've been happy with those decisions as well. She worked with a contact of hers to have them made and even managed to get them done in a tight timeframe so that I could have everything done by a specific date. The painting was completed by her crew (led by Juan - who was extremely professional and helpful throughout the process), who did a very good job. The actual painting took a little more than a week. A few months later, the paint job still looks great overall. The only issue is some chipping that has occurred in the trim areas, but the 2-year guarantee on the paint job should take care of these issues for me. They have already been out once to touch up a few areas post-moving in (not unexpectedly, there were a few touch-ups needed then but that was due to the movers not the paint job), and that worked well. I would definitely recommend purchasing the additional 2-year guarantee for touch-ups on the paint job -- worth it to have the guarantee and the flexibility for touch-ups when things happen.

They did an amazing job, the project management was just superb. I have had several bad experiences with other companies but I was very happy with this service. It was an amazing experience.
